I can't access "Advanced Options" in my User Account for Mac OSX

I cannot access the "Advanced Options" menu when I right click on my user account in System Preferences. When I right click, the option shows up, but nothing happens when I click on it. It does allow me to access it for other users, as I am the administrator.
I think I have a problem with my login shell, because I also cannot access Terminal. I was trying to access the Advanced Options to select a user shell. Any ideas?

You would simply need to create a new user account (with a different name) and then transfer all of the data from your current user account, to the new one.
You could try a permissions repair first, or resetting the ACLs for your account.
Open Disk Utility, and choose Macintosh HD, then 'Repair Disk Permissions' and let that run.
For the ACLs:
Insert the OS X install disc, restart and hold down 'C'. Once booted to the install disc, choose Utilities -> Reset Password. In the bottom of that window, you should see "Reset Home Folder ACLs", click 'Reset', then click the Mac OS X Install DVD" and choose 'Quit Installer'

Certification test for OS X 10.7 Lion are not available yet. I assume they will be nearly identical to the test of 10.5 and 10.6. Hopefully, the reason the certification website has been down for a while is that they are updating it with the new information. Though I really wouldn't expect any 10.7 certification test to be available for 2-4 months. Peachpit Press didn't publish their training material for 10.6 until October even though 10.6 was released in August.
As far as the 10.6 Certifications:
Certified Support Professional, 10.6 requires the 9L0-403 exam.
Certified Technical Coordinator, 10.6 requires the 9L0-403 as well as the 9L0-510 (Server Essentials) exams.
The information for the Certified System Administrator, 10.6 is "hidden" on the integral7 website but according to this Wikipedia entry, you need to pass the 9L0-510 Server Essentials exam as well as these three:
Directory Services
Deployment
Security and Mobility

How can I access advanced settings during initial email account setup?

Having just bought an iPad Air, I've tried to setup my email account (with John Lewis) on it during the initial startup process and repeatedly failed, both with SSL on and off. I imagine that I need to change the port settings or some other advanced parameter, but I can find no way of accessing them. It looks simple once you have the account set up but obviously that is of no help here. I apologise if I am being dopey but this is my first experience with an Apple product. Thanks for your help. When I click on help on Adobe Reader 11.0.07 and select "Adobe Reader XI Help". I receive an error message:
"Online help content cannot be displayed. Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the internet."

Sorry to hear you are having issues with this. If you are having troubles receiving the verification code via SMS when setting up iCloud Keychain, you may find the information and steps outlined in the following article helpful, in particular this portion:
If you didn't receive the verification code via SMS
Make sure that you have a strong cellular network connection on your phone.
Make sure that your phone number can get SMS messages. To check, ask someone to send you a text message.
Make sure that the correct phone number is associated with your account:
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, tap Settings > iCloud > Keychain > Advanced. (In iOS 7, tap Settings > iCloud > Account > Keychain.) Make sure the phone number under Verification Number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Options next to Keychain. (In OS X Mavericks or earlier, click iCloud, then click Account Details.) Make sure the phone number under Verification number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.

There is no solution. You have to provide the ID and password. There is no way around it. If the person you bought it from can't provide it, return it and get your money back.

In order to reliably save the info and be able to restore at a later date, you would need to use his AppleID.
Switch to it on iTunes, back the iPad up and confirm the backup exists (Preferences / Devices), then switch to yours, wipe the iPad and start afresh. Will also wipe his apps, as they are tied to the AppleID as well.

Which keyboard layout you were using? German, French ... I suppose your layout is reset to the default: US and you are unable to find the "?" or "/" ...
Please have a look into the keyboard viewer, to see how the layout of your keyboard is actually.

In Mail you can select Import Mailboxes... from the File menu. There is an import from Entourage feature.

Can't access Adobe After Effects CC - being asked for serial number

Hi there,
I've just spent an hour on a very slow customer chat box, and then it cut off.
The guy gave me one suggestion: delete the database file from AppData > Local > Adobe > OOBE
It didn't work.
So, I'm not sure what to do. I can't access my product as it keeps asking for a serial number, but I'm on CC so I don't have one, as far as I know.
Very frustrating.
I appreciate any help you could provide.
