I Can't access Internet outside of my house??

As the title says, I am having trouble accessing Internet outside of the house on my Ipod and Laptop. Both work great in the house, I have signed up to BTFON as I have the unlimited broadband package and have free access to btfon and bt openzone. I just cant get them up and running as I would mostly use Internet on my ipod when out and about. I can access internet via BTFON while in my house?? cant access internet with bt openzone anywhere??
How do I set up my laptop/ipod to gain access to Internet when out??
Thanks for you time
John

You need to log into FON or Openzone using your bt email address and its password to gain access

  • New Ipod Touch 5g can't access Internet in home network (using Linksys E4200 router). But, OK with other Wifi.

Just bought new Ipod Touch 5g. I found out it can't access Internet in home network. not really cannot access, but very slow to open any web page, App Store failed to access, etc. But, OK with other Wifi (office & starbucks). Others existing iOS devices (Iphone4 & Ipad2) have no problem like this. I'm using Linksys E4200 router at home. anyone has any idea why?

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>GeneralReset>Reset Network Settings

  • IPhone 5s can connect to wireless WIFI router but can not access internet.

iPhone 5s can connect to wireless WIFI router but can not access internet at work. The admin says the router lets my iPhone connect to LAN, but the iPhone does not have server IP to access the internet. I entered the server IP and port number in the HTTP PROXY fields but I still can not access the web. Any ideas?
    TIA
    Rich

You IT person should be able to sort this out.  But, they seems to be too busy or disinterested to do this.  Suggest you provide the it person with an iPhone to get interested.
Any could be lots of things.
The best you can do is to get access to the admin setup for networking on a pc?  The internet settings are all the same.  Only what names the manufactures change from OS to OS. Check and compare parameters.
Phone works to internet at home, I assume?

Reply: I spent about an hour last night doing all the things that you suggested including moving the lan cable from my desktop to my laptop which worked fine. When I hoover over the connection it says;  Network3                                                                                        Internet Access   no error messages. When I unplug the cable at the router a red x covers that connection icon.Plug it back in red x goes away.It is seeing the router, just does not appear to be providing selected web page info.Computer thinks it is working fine.

  • I installed a new airport express and made it part of my existing home network...  now the PCs can't access internet through the airport extreme or the cisco access points

Everything works perfect with Macs, iPhone, iPads but I have 2 pcs that now can't access internet. The PCs connect to the airport and my other access points but no internet- The PCs sent an error of DNS

Yes, as we already said, it will do all of this if you have a good wireless signal reaching the bedroom.
Remember that an extender or repeater or whatever you want to call it can only extend the quality of signal that it receives.
The Ethernet signal that the Express delivers will only be as good as the quality of the wireless connection between the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express.
If you have doubts, make sure that you understand the store's return policy before you buy.

  • ASA 5505 Anyconnect VPN Users can't access Internet

Vpn user cannot access the internet but able to ping the lan network (192.168.1.0).. it seem like im missing a lan or nat rule.. Possibly allowing the vpn subnet 192.168.2.0 /24 to pass through to the internet.  Im looking to accomplish this without split tunneling.. Thanks

on 8.2.5 version or lower:  Let say your inside hosts are accessing Internet by using dynamic nat index "1" and now you can use the same nat index "1" allow your vpn-pool range to be part of the same dynamic-nat index "1" to access the Internet.  Note I am natting source interface is be outside for vpn-client users because they (vpn-users) are physically coming off the outside interface.
    nat (outside) 1 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
    on 8.3 version or greater:
    object network vpn-user-subnet
     subnet 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
     nat (outside,outside) dynamic interface
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod Touch - where can I access internet - hotspots, or do I need Cloud?

If I want to use the Touch to browse the internet outside of my home (which has wireless broadband), do I need to subscribe to a provider such as Cloud, or would I be able to access the internet in places that are hotspots, such as airports etc?
Sorry - total newbie to all this stuff so please be kind!

You can connect to the internet anywhere there is a wi-fi signal (hotspot) as long as the hotspot is open (i.e. no username and password required), or you have a username and password from a paid-for service provider, such as The Cloud, or BTOpenZone.
In some locations you may find open networks that you can connect through. These are either provided free by places such as McDonalds, pubs, coffeeshops etc to their customers, or in some cases, are private connections that haven't been properly secured by their owners.
Using someone else's wi-fi connection without permission is usually illegal, so best not do that!
The Cloud do a special discounted monthly subscription especially for iPod touch users for £3.99 per month (instead of the usual £6.99) here: http://www.thecloud.co.uk/page/3615

  • VPN - can't access internet over VPN

    Hi,
I have an issue with VPN.
For my work I need to be able to log into my office network remotely and then access remote desktop connection from within my work network.
This won't work unless I am accessing the internet from inside the VPN.
I have got this working on a PC, just had to select "Use default gateway on remote network" and now when I access the VPN on a windows laptop I am accessing the internet over the VPN.
When I connect to the VPN on the Mac I can access the network, email server, file servers etc, but can not access the internet through the VPN.
    I have tried:
    - changing the service order
    - ticking and unpicking the send all traffic over VPN setting
I can get to the point where I can access my work network over the VPN while also accessing the internet over my wifi but cannot get it so I can access the internet over the VPN connection. It is a PPTP VPN.
Does anyone know how I get my Mac to use the default gateway on the remote network?

If this server is behind a (NAT-) router you need to turn on "ipforwarding only" in Server Admin NAT configuration otherwise the server wont route packets beyond it's subnet.

  • WRT54G v6 - Can Connect to wireless network but can't access internet

Ok, this is my last resort for help. I spent two hours yesterday with linksys "chat" support to no avail.
    First the techincal details:
OS for all machines = Windows XP
Laptop w/two adapters - one wired, one wireless
    WRT54G v6 upgraded with 1.00.9 firmware
    SpeedStream modem from DSL provider
I have manually set the IP, subnet mask, gateway, primary and secondary DNS for my wireless adapter (using the Alternate Configuration in the Internet Protocol Properties of the Wireless Network Connection). When I connect to the wireless network I see that the IP, subnet, gateway and DNS server IPs are all correct (via ipconfig /all).  I see that I am connected to my SSID (11.0 MBps, signal strength Excellent) however I can't access web sites (the server not found message appears in the browser) nor can I ping the router IP or any other IP (LAN or WAN).
My wired PC works fine with this router. My laptop works fine with this router when wired.
Anyone face a similar situation and have a solution?  Thanks.

    A new discovery...
When I disable the wireless security on the router, I am able to connect to the wireless network, ping the router and access the internet.  So, there is apparently something wrong with the WEP security (although I am able to connect to the wireless network when WEP is enabled).
I am thouroughly confused. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    3. Microsoft router MN-500:
Tried this old router (the one I used before purchasing the LinkSys). It is an old (circa 2002) Wireless B base station with WEP Security. The iPhone was never able to connect to the Internet using various settings, many of which were duplicates of the LinkSys tests above.
On both routers my wife's Dell laptop and my HP printer connect without incident, using the same network/security settings.
I have always been able to connect to various unsecured WiFi networks; I have never been able to connect to a secure WiFi network (although the only one I've really tried has been my own).
I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any suggestions?

    SUCCESS!!!!!
I visited my brother-in-law yesterday and attempted to connect with his secure network. By sheer luck, he is using the exact same model LinkSys router. My iPhone connected first time--so the iPhone was eliminated as a source of the problem.
I didn't do a lot of troubleshooting at his house, but I did notice that his network was set for both dynamic DHCP and dynamic DNS. I know that either or both of Windstream (my ISP) and my broadband modem requires a pair of static DNS addresses.
Sure enough, delving real deep into Windstream's support site, I discovered a LinkSys router DNS help page, specifying how to set static DNS addresses in LinkSys routers. I then accessed my router, enterd the known static addresses, saved the router settings, then rebooted the iPhone and connected to the network.
    SUCCESS!!!
Thanks to Jane, who suggested it was an ISP issue, Jason, and all at Apple support. dumonj, I'll email you directly. Try this suggestion and see if it helps.

  • Mac mini server - Can't access Internet

Hello. Using a Mac mini server as the media server for my house. Not really using any of the Snow Leopard Server services though. Wanted the larger hard drive and didn't need an optical drive so this was perfect for me. At any rate, recently noticed that the Mac mini can't access the Internet. It talks to the other Macs and Apple TVs in the house fine but it can't load a web page. I looked at the preferences and everything and can't see anything wrong. Plus, all my other computers get on the web fine. Any ideas? Is there a specific setting I should check? Thanks in advance.

Can you describe your LAN and how it connects to the internet, as well as how the device that acts as your router is configured to interact with the computers on your LAN and how the individual computers are configured to connect to the routing device?

  • WRT54GS V4.0 Laptop Connects But can't access internet unless I am in DMZ mode.

This is recent. I've changed no settings or otherwise done anything to block access, but I've had this problem 2 times now, and I'm beginning to think the router is crapping out on me.
Here's why I know it is not the laptop Wifi that is the problem... When I am connected to the router, I CAN access the router administration pages, but I can't access anything on the internet itself unless the modem is in DMZ mode(I have to put it into DMZ mode and then power cycle the router). If the modem is in DMZ mode, I have no problems.
This only happens with the Wireless connection. On my desktop I have no such problems either way.
I have been using this router since January of this year and have not had any issues until recently when I would occasionally have to reset the laptop's connection to this router, and now this issue.
Note: after it happened the first time, I took my laptop over to the in-laws house and I had no issues for the entire day that I was using the laptop. I come back here to my router and start having issues again.
P.S. I use Ethereal (wireless security monitor) to determine what channels others are using within my range and have set mine to different channels that do not conflict with others, but still no change.

Hi.. What are the DNS serves that are assign to your laptop when you have this issue? Are they public or private? Are you able to ping to any of these DNS server?
You should have public DNS server assign to your laptop. and you should be able to ping to that DNS server to make sure that you have internet connection. If you dont have public dns server, try to ping to 4.2.2.2 (a very common dns server) if you are able to ping to this, then assign this dns to your laptop. you should be online.
Also try to upgrade the firmware on the router.

  • Laptop connects to wireless network via a WRT54G but it can't access internet

I’ve got a WRT54G cabled to my desktop, I set up a WEP-secured wireless network for my laptop, and the laptop connects to the wireless network and receives a strong signal, but it can’t get Internet access. I know the problem is not with the router because the laptop CAN get internet access when it's cabled to the router.  (So the problem isn’t an IP address problem—which I knew because I had to reconfigure the static IP of the laptop to get it to connect to the network in the first place.)  I turned off the Windows firewall, Symantec virus protection, and Internet Explorer’s pop-up blocker on the laptop. The laptop connects perfectly to the wireless network and receives a strong signal, so why can’t it access the internet??
Linksys tech support couldn’t figure it out, so I really need your help.  Thank you!

(because I wanted it to have the same static IP address as the router).
Just wanted to clarify what you meant in this post. If you entered the router's IP address as the static IP for the laptop, you would get the symptoms that you are describing. Try entering a IP that isn't normally used like 192.168.1.142. (That is assuming that your router IP is the default 192.168.1.1.)
If that isn't the issue, please tell me what ipconfig is returning on both the laptop and the desktop.
