I can't access my email account - I am not mobile so what is SMTP server?

I can't send from my email account.  It is not mobile me and I don't know what the SMTP server should be help please?

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transport Protocol. It's used to sending email. This would be a server that your ISP or mail provider defines. POP or IMAP is usually the protocol used by your mail provided to receive email.

  • Can't access yahoo email account on my mac

for the past month I haven't been able to access my yahoo email account via my ibook. I can access it from any computer accept for my mac. I've written yahoo and they sent me a six page document that's completely useless. I can log into my email account but I can't view the emails or compose a message.
    Please help!

Are you trying to set up your Yahoo Mail account through the Mail application or login via the web? If you're trying to login via the web, try downloading and installing another browser and see if that lets you login.

  • How can i access an email account on TB from a separate computer without deleting/modifying how the other account is setup

I want to be able to access another email account that is set up as a POP account on TB, but I do not want to modify how the other email account is set up. My co-worker and I often need to access each others emails. Is it simply a matter of adding the email account on my computer as a POP, without moving his emails? Or would this require changing his account to IMAP? When i set up his TB account, I made it a POP so there are no messages on the server at the moment. What I don't want is for his emails to move from his computer to mine.
(He's new to TB and that would drive him crazy - I already did that when I switched him from Outlook)
    Thank you

''Is it simply a matter of adding the email account on my computer as a POP''
Yes. And make sure to check the option to leave messages on the server prior to accessing the account.
Having said that, I think it is a very bad idea to share an account that way.
Note that this will give you permanent access to your co-worker's account.
In addition you're not only storing your own messages on your computer, but also all your co-worker's messages.
The same is true for him if he does the same.

  • Email Push for an email account that is not mobile me

Hi There; I have an iphone 3GS where I use 4 different email accounts and calendars. I use 2 mobileme accounts, I use a gmail account and I use a private server account. I used to have a Blackberry Bold and never had any problem. Everythong works fine except for the private server account. Sometimes I get the email in my iPhone even a day later, sometimes I don't get them. But I always get them in my iMac. Can somebody guide me in how to fix that issue or if there's any push email software that really work for the iPhone...I'm getting emails way tooo late compare to the mobile me ones. By the way, I have it set the same way I have set in my computers, POP. Please help, I really don't want to go back to Blackberry, I like my iPhone sooo much!

Different from the Blackberry's email application, the iPhone's Mail application communicates direct with the incoming mail server for an email account - no different when accessing an email account with an email client on your computer.
RIM provides a dedicated email delivery service for the Blackberry which provides Push access regardless the account type.
With the iPhone's Mail application, the email account provider/email account must support Push access. The following email accounts support Push access for received messages.
    MobileMe.
A Yahoo account created with the Yahoo account preset, which creates the account as an IMAP account with Push access for received messages.
An Exchange account accessed via ActiveSync with the Exchange server for the account.
A POP account does not support Push access when accessed with an email client that communicates direct with the incoming mail server such as with an email client on your computer or with the iPhone's Mail application. The only reason Push access is available with a POP account with the Blackberry's email application is due to RIM's dedicated email delivery service for the Blackberry.
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. Do you leave the email client used on your computer for accessing the POP account launched and running actively checking the incoming mail serve for new messages while your iPhone is doing the same? If so, this is likely the cause of the problem. Different from an IMAP account, only one email client at a time can access the incoming mail server for a POP account. If two email clients are actively running checking the incoming mail server for new messages and downloading new messages received at the server with a POP account, the 2nd email client will be temporarily locked out by the incoming mail server for the account when another email client is doing the same.

  • Can I access my email account on a second computer at a different address?

The email account is used for a company which trades from my home address. Someone who lives at a different address will shortly need access to the email account as well. Is this possible?

As you have not stated what type of mail account you are using - I've given info on both:
    '''POP mail accounts:'''
by default POP mail accounts can only get access to the webmail Inbox and download from that Inbox to the pop mail account in Thunderbird.
Usually, it downloads and deletes off the server, so if you want to create POP mail account for the new user, you would need to mke sure the settings are to 'leave messages on server' on both your computer and the new user.
Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for pop mail account
The main issue here is that the Inbox should not be used as a general store, so you create folders to store emails. Unfortunately, this would mean constant monitoring to make sure both computers actually were using the same folders, as the user can manually create folders, you could end up with emails stored differently on each computer.
    '''IMAP mail accounts:'''
see a remote view of the folders on the server.
So, you could enable IMAP forwarding via the webmail account and then in Thunderbird create IMAP mail account.
If you currently have a POP mail account in Thunderbird on your computer, consider creating an IMAP mail account, which can be set up on both computers, then each can see folders on server.
Move all emails from POP mail account into Local Folders first.
When you are certain all Pop emails are stored in Local Folders:
Then remove the POP mail account.
    Tools > Account Settings
    select pop mail account
    click on 'Account Actions'
    Select ' Remove account'
    click on OK
Then create an IMAP mail account.
Subscribe to see folders. Synchronise subscribed folders to get a copy of folders in your Profile folder.
Make sure you create regular backups regardless of whether POP or IMAP mail account.

  • How can I access 2different email accounts?

How can I access 2 different email accounts. I thought when I selected mail it would give me list of email accounts. Am I doing something wrong? Please help...

Have you set up both accounts in the Mail settings? If so, then you should be getting mail from both accounts.
I'm not sure what you're expecting to see by a "list". As of iOS 4.x on the iPad, all mail appears in a single Inbox, so you won't see two different accounts as such, if that's what you were expecting.
If that doesn't answer your question, please post back with more details as to the problem you're experiencing.
    Regards.

  • Can't access old email account to reset security questions

I have forgotten my security questions (or haven't set any up - I can't remember)  and am told the reset information will be sent to an old email address I no longer have access to.  I have reset all contact email addresses that I can see.  The one it tells me it will send the reset link to was the original one I used to set up my apple id.  Anyone know if there is a way around this  ?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Can't delete old AppleID from iPhone because I can't access old email account

I can't remove the old iCloud profile because I don't have either the password or access to the old email address.  How can I remove it when it insists on me entering a password that I don't know and cannot reset?

I have had the same problem and I was able to delete all but one.  The one that won't delete is the one that is currently playing.  It cannot be swipe deleted.  I had another song that I was having a similar problem so I connected to iTunes, synced that song to the phone and then it would let me delete it.  So, I synced the entire album that contains the song that I can't delete.  Doing so allows me to swipe delete all of the songs until it says "No Content".
However, if I select the "Now Playing" in the upper right-hand of the screen, the song is still playing and when I go back to the Songs list it is back like David F@#king Copperfield with no option to delete it.
I don't want any music on my phone (that's why I have an iPod) because every time I get in my car and the phone connects to the radio it starts playing over Bluetooth audio automatically.

  • Hi there I lost my password for my original iTunes account I can't recover it because the email address it is registered under is not longer valid How can I access my old account?

    Hi there.
I did a factory restore and then restored it with iCloud back-up. I have been using lots of Apple products and i have used three different email adresses. Almost all apps restored perfectly but everytime i try to play a song in the Music app, i asks me for a Apple-ID i had no idea i have used.
    Hence:
I lost my password for my original iTunes account
I can't recover it because the email address it is registered under is not longer valid
How can I access my old account?
Can't find a place to change the email address to my new one without the password which I no longer remember.
There is no way to just erase Apple-ID's on my device either.
What to do? Should i ju give up and start from scratch and delete 2 years of stuf?
    Cheers!

If you can remember the answers to the security questions when you set up that account - I think that you can reset the password without needing email authentication. You can try it here. Read it and see if it's possible. But if you can't remember the answers to the questions it will not work.

  • I can't access my email.  I have joined iCloud.  The phone asks for my Apple ID and Password.  I put them in to be told the account already exists, but that's as far as I get.  What do I do?

I can't access my email.  I have joined iCloud.  When I press mail I get a series of providers.  I click iCloud.  It asks for my Apple id and password.  I provide these to be told this account already exists and I can get no further.  What am I doing wrong?

Sorry everyone - I have solved my own question - needed to go through Hotmail account of course.

  • I am having trouble, my icloud is using an old Apple ID, and i can no longer access that email account, or know the password to that, how do i switch it?

I am having trouble, my icloud is using an old Apple ID, and i can no longer access that email account, or know the password to that, how do i switch it to my new Apple ID?

Having the email address is not necessary. It is just the username for the device. All you need is that Apple ID and password. Now, if you forgotten the password, then you have more work to do. Since that email is no longer active, you would need to send the reset to your rescue email, if you remember that. Or you will need to contact Apple Security for help. I have just installed Snow Leopard, (10.6.3) onto my Macbook Pro and so far it seems to be working fine except that I can't access my gmail account. I can sign in but the blue opening indicator freezes near the end and I can get no further. I'm a bit of a novice at this stuff - help please!

I would run the combo update to get to 10.6.8 in order to get the latest security updates and so forth. Then run Software Update until you system is current.

  • My ipad4 went into restore mode, cause was software crash. Genius rebooted it erasing everything, now I can't access my email. When I try to sign in it says account is already added

Genuis had to reboot my ipad do to software Crashes unfortunetly deleting all my apps. Now I can't  access my email, when I attempt to sign in it says account is already added to iPad. I cannot receive  any mail,or even access my account. I have gone thru the troubleshooter, with no resolution .

I would go to managing your Apple ID at this website and see if your information is all correct, first ...
    https://appleid.apple.com/
You'll see if you can sign in on managing your Apple ID, and then if you can, you can see if your information is all correct, and then ... you should be able to go back and do it, since you've verified your information.
