I can't access my router's settings

I am trying to set up a chromecast and it was having trouble connecting. I checked the Chromecast router compatibility and it says my Actionnet router should be able to work with chromecast if I enable UPnP through my router settings. A quick google on how to get into the router settings led me to this .pdf http://www.actiontec.com/products/datasheets/How%20to%20change%20your%20wireless%20settings%20verizon%20fios-1.pdf It gave me a link to a website where I had to enter my Verizon account username/password. I did but every character I type for the password, it added a few more. By the time I entered in my password, it appeared to be ~40 characters long. I tried putting in a letter, deleting all the other letters added, and entering the next but that doesn't work.
Now I'm stuck wondering if Verizon is for some reason, not allowing me access to my router settings. Help would be appreciated.

    cam2014,
It's definitely important to have your router's information, we're happy to help as much as possible. Is this router through Verizon Wireless or Verizon Communications, like internet at home through land line? If it's residential services, you can contact them here http://vz.to/QrJ593 . If it's wireless, please let us know the device model you have.

  • Can't access my router's setup page (wrt54g)

I can't access my router's setup page (wrt54g) after setting it up. The router is working fine, but everytime I try to log on at 192.168.1.1 it says the password is incorrect. The first time I set it up I changed the default user name and password and I thought I had just forgot it, so I reset the device. This time I didn't change any of the defaults and I still can't log on. I already had to reset it several times, and it's just annoying. Does anyone knows how to keep it from happening? I thought it could be a firmware problem, but I can't find any downloads for my route'rs version (V8). I'm using a macbook pro, osx 10.9.2.
    Solved!

I had the same problem.. After trying the userid and password from my previous WRT54G2 without success and admin admin multiple times, I used the "router name"  ==> Linksys as the user name and the security code that I used to set up the new router  as the password and it let me in..  I was on the phone with LINKSYS technical suport during this 1 hour process and they were as much surprised as I was that this worked..  After gettin on and changing the config, (thanks to Honey), I was able to access the internet from the new E2500 THAT i HAD JUST INSTALLED..  success

  • Can't access iCloud, Facebook, Messages settings on iPad 3 after ios 6 update

Once I updated to ios6, I went to post a pic to Facebook from my camera roll. It told me I had to add a Facebook acct and directed me to my settings page. Half my settings are GREYED OUT AND UNAVAILABLE!. Facebook, iCloud, Twitter, Messages, FaceTime, plus other settings under Mail/Contacts etc are also unavailable. I reset my iPad, then the Internet stopped working where it had been fine before! Came up with an apple login page and would disconnect me-- fixed that by setting http proxy to auto-- still can't access the above mentioned settings! Anyone else, any suggestions?!

I had this problem too. But I remembered I was playing with the restriction settings just right before it greyed out. I disabled restrictions and it came back. I would try to disable renewable a few times to see if it comes back.

Does anyone know how to get the full gmail experience on iPad?

Scroll to bottom of page in safari, hit the little link for desk top instead of mobile.

When ever I go into an application that requires me to use the key board the app just closes down and takes me back to the home page.  I can't even get into settings.  Also if I bring up the key pad it just sticks after I press a couple of keys?  Help?  I can't get into fb/pages anything!

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • Power LED flashes, firmware updates good, and can still access the router

I have a wrt54G first version as there is no version number. About two months ago, the power led started dropping out and with a reset worked for a day or so, then, it became worse, every hour, and now only a couple of minutes. according to the help side of this site, the router will not be accessible, but it is. I upgraded to the 4.7.1.1 firmware, the problem continues, un plug and start it up. Any ideas? Could it be the 12 volt power supply going bad or over shooting the power?

yes, that is the level, verified at the router. the help side of this site says that if the led flashes like this that it would be corrupt an un accessible, but a restart of the router stops it, and it is accessible, moreover, the upgrade fails since that is the level at the router. just that it is happening about every 15 minutes (8/3) - could it be that comcast is sending packets of ??? to blow out routers? Thee state they don't like people using routers - that you are not supposed to use more than one computer with their broad band connection. Yes - serious, the e have said this twice in the last 6 months. Don't know what it could be, Saturday - Sunday it has not dropped out at all

  • I can't access my wi-fi settings

my wi-fi worked for a while, but my touch froze for a minute. when i turned it off and back on, i didn't have a signal and when i go to settings it is gray and says no wi-fi. what happened?

    Hi all,
Had my touch for about 3 weeks now and very happy with it (especially with 1.1.2 having the ability to actually enter appointments!). However, this morning I turned it on and there's no wi-fi (which is why I'm on this topic, of course)!!!
Like the first poster, the touch says "No Wi-Fi" in the settings page, all greyed out. Done a few reboots (hard and soft) and resets (although not the sort that loses data) with no success. What I'm wondering is if this is an actual hardware problem. It was cold last night and when I took the touch out of my bag indoors it got covered in condensation. Has moisture got in and messed it up? I've been trying to keep it warm to force out any moisture, but no change yet. Anyone else had this and it's magically recovered, or is this a one way street??
    Cheers,
    Ian

  • Suddenly can't access my router! This has never happened before.

I reset it but still only get the text box message:  "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."  Have tried to reboot the pc, I guess I'll try that.  Any help would be appreciated!

  • Can't Access Router Settings via 192.168.2.1

I have recently changed modem/routers as my connection speed was increased recently and the old modem wasn't up to the task... The previous modem/router was preconfigured and I did nothing to it, however the new one requires settings be fixed by accessing it via a browser at 192.168.2.1
When the technician came to check my line and set up the new modem, we encountered a strange situation. Despite being connected by Ethernet cable, my machine could not access the IP address reserved for the router.
The reply is: "Safari can’t connect to the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://192.168.2.1/” because Safari can’t connect to the server “192.168.2.1”."
We tried Firefox and the same happened.
I have deactivated my firewall, rebooted, changed cables, restarted the router, got Safari to pretend to be Explorer, got the neighbor's dog to bark at it, everything except make a blood pact with the devil, and the two browsers on my machine think that 192.168.2.1 is an external address- which it isn't, and of course fails to connect.
The technician used his laptop to configure the thing, so I can access the internet (obviously) but I must find out why I can't access the router/modem's settings, if only to find some logical reason for this illogical behavior.
I've tried looking this issue up, and I get lots of bad wiring, wireless connection, windows proprietary shenanigans, but none that explain my situation.
I'd appreciate it if someone could help me make sense of this.
    My setup:
Computer Model Name: Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics)
    Model Identifier: PowerMac3,1
    Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
    Processor Speed: 1.35 GHz
    Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 2 MB
    Memory: 832 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.2.8f1
    Sales Order Number: M7827LL/A
    Router: "2-Wire Gateway"

Your advice did the job quite nicely and it seems this is the "natural way of things," but I was totally unaware of it since my previous modems were preconfigured and I never had to muck about with subnets and such things.
What irks me is that this is basic, bare bones information that the Tech support people should have given me right off the bat. Why do they assume I have all the right numbers input into the Ethernet or PPPoE settings? They seemed totally perplexed that I couldn't connect, and frankly so was I- since my old Mac, as decrepit as it is, is still able to kick it with the modern way of things better than most computers I work with.
If they had asked me if I had set the right IP's in the right slots, it could have been fixed in 2 minutes.
Thank you very much for solving my problem, it saves me a lot of stress and confusion.

  • I can't access router address. "404 not found"

With my Linksys cable modem and wireless router hooked up and running properly, I can't access the router address. I get "File 404 not found" and "The requested URL was not found on this server. " It is the same address as in the Network Preferences window. The wireless router works great and all computers in the network have fast internet access but my boys want to "tweak" the port settings on the router and can't get to them. I've tried resetting the router every way possible but to no avail so I'm wondering if I don't have something
set properly on the network page of OSX. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, sometimes routers go weird...so, unplug the router for at least a minute, then plug it back in. When it finishes the startup sequence, try logging in again.
If you ever do get in, there is a firmware update available for your router. The firmware might be corrupted (happens a lot).

  • Can't access router configuration

I have a wireless router WRT54GC.  It worked fine until I got a new linker.  Now I can neither connect wirelessly from my laptop (although the laptop says the connection is fine).  Nor can I access the router configuration; the URL for the configuration program has changed since the new linker was installed, and I can ping it  successfully, but via browser does not connect.  Hard to do much without getting to the router configuration.

When you are trying to setup page of your Router are you getting any kind of error message?
Try to Disable the Firewall and Antivirus on your Router and then check if you are able to access the setup page of your Router, If still not then you can Hardwired a different computer to the router and then try to login to the setup page of your router, if still doesn't work then you can unplug the power from the router, wait for 30sec and then replug the power to the linksys router and then check if you are able to access the setup page of your router.
If still you are unable to access the setup page of your Router then you can Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Help: can't access router's config page

Hi, Anyone else having this issue? Whether is via WiFi or Wired, I can't access the router's config page. Thank you.

hectorresto725 wrote: ... I can't access the router's config page. ...What is the device model number? If it's a Comcast gateway try pressing the (probably recessed) Reset button (use a toothpick or similar), and then log in to http://10.0.0.1/ with userid "admin" and password "password". • How can I access my home security DVR from the internet?

My Time Capsule (as a router and not a bridge) blocks me from accessing my home security DVR from the internet.  I can access it from other computers connected to my LAN but not from the internet.  I guess it's a firewall setting issue.  I can't add the home security application to the list of firewall allowed incoming connections since it's a Windows app that I cannot install on my Mac.  On the other hand, the app is installed on my old PC but I can't access the Mac firwall settings from the PC and add the security app (If that's the problem).
My DVR is connected to a Netgear switch which is connected to the Time Capsule which is connected to a Cisco modem provided by Comcast. I thought one of the modem ports had to be opened by Comcast. That was not the issue.  After spending 2 hours on the phone with Comcast going in circles talking to 10 different overseas agents, they concluded the Netgear switch was blocking me from accessing the DVR.  I think they are wrong and that it's a Mac firewall problem.  HELP!!!  Does anyone know what could be the problem and how to solve it?

Did you forward the required ports in the TIme Capsule? If not it won't work.. it has nothing to do with firewall unless the DVR is plugged into the Mac. If it is plugged into a switch you need to lock the IP of the DVR and find out what ports are required.. usually just port 80, ie html.. but it could be some others.
Since Apple do not use upnp to open ports.. the TC will have to manually be provided with the ports.. Apple use PMP-NAT that is not used by the rest of the known world.. Just to ensure you stay in the camp.
