i am trying to activate my facetime but it's always "error" why?

What country are you in. Some don't allow FaceTime.

I'm not that familiar with how FaceTime works. I know how to set It up but I don't use it. I just know that you can't activate in the UAE. I believe that you can activate in any country that permits it's use. Whether you will need a new ID or not, I can't confirm.
You can Google this and get all sorts of articles on workarounds. Apparently if you set up a VPN you can use it in the UAE. Here is one article that I found.

Where are you, what network are you on and where did you get the phone?
If you are on an unsupported network, Facetime may never be able to activate. If the phone originated in a different country, facetime is probably trying to send an International text message to activate. If you don't have International text messaging, it will fail.

I just activated my phone yesterday and can't seem to activate my FaceTime. I even called Apple and spent an hr on the phone with them and got nowhere. Anyone had this happen?

In NJ, when I go to my settings and select FaceTime its toggled on and says waiting for activation I try to sign in with my Apple I'd and it says could not sign in error, check network and try again. I have access to my iTunes and have downloaded things, I've reset the network settings, reset the setting back to original and nothing.

I have the same issue too i tried going through support online providing them my serial number for my itouch and it was telling me that my itouch doesnt have any insurance and what not... i have been using facetime for months and the problem just occured last night... couldnt use my facetime or imessage... tried changing password and it still shows the same error...

Now at iMessage screen where I set how people will message me. I have my iPhone's number, my email address I use for Apple ID, and my @me email address
I leave them all checked and I hit "Next"
"Verifying" with the spinning wheel at the top of the screen...
Pop up message says: "iMessage Activation" + "Unable to contect the iMessage server. Try again." (this is about the 6th time I've tried this)
What have I done to try to make it work?:
Retied as directed by iPad
Powered iPad off & tried again
Turned airplane mode on, off, and tried again
Verified that the iPad DOES have network access by browsing the web with Safari (not using 3G/4G, wifi only)
Please suggest something...someone.... anyone?

Why can't I use FaceTime on my ipad2 using cellular network

I can not successfully use FaceTime over my cellular network as advertised by the ios 6 upgrade. I even got I message stating I had to use FaceTime over a Wi Fi network. What's going on?

Can not activate Imessage & FaceTime

Since I update my iPad to ISO6 can not login to imessage and FaceTime , error message " user or password are incorrect".
I just update my IPad to 6.0.1 and can NOT activite my imessage & FaceTime , I was able to use both application before ISO6, while they are working on my iPhone!!!
I have tried many things, rest setting, chane apple password ,.....etc but never help!
I hope someone could provide me a solution.

Are you messenging to someone who also has an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, who has updated their software to iOS 5 or higher? For facetime, you can only facetime to someone on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch as well and the person you are trying to facetime with has to also have Wifi on at the time you try to facetime them.
