I can't activate tabs in safari on ipad3/ios7.04

Hi, I have an ipad3 and an iPhone4. Both are operating on ios7.04 but while safari on the iPhone is very useful, having the "Rolodex" style of selecting previous pages, and an active +sign to open new pages! None of these are available on my ipad3. On my iPad, the +sign is greyed out and the icons that become visible at the bottom of the iPhone screen don't appear. What am I missing?

settings- safari- clear cookies and data and clear history
if persists
reset all settings
settings-general-reset-reset all settings (note no data loss)
now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persists back up and restore as new via iTunes

In Safari, if you press command (apple key) T a new tab will open up.
I use this feature a lot on my MacBook but this feature will not work on my iMac.
I have to press "command N" and that opens up a whole new page. I would like to just have all of my pages in one window instead of having 3 or 4 different ones.
Any ideas how to get the tab feature to work in Safari on my iMac?

Can't close tab

I can't close tab from safari. you know how when you open a new tab, and if you wants to close it, if you click on it, it shows a "x", so you can click and close the new tab. But from today, it doesn't appear, and I have to close each tab by right-clicking. HOw do i get back the "x" to close tab ?

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Can't use tabbed browsing since Safari update

Ever since I downloaded the update today I can't browse using tabs. If I go to preferences and changed to tabbed browsing Safari constantly quits.
If I delete my Safari .plist file everything is back to "normal". This is a pretty obvious bug. Anyone else having this problem ? I feel that there are a lot of people out there that do not know to delete their .plist file as a troubleshooting method.

I don't see any non Apple applications listed in the crash log near the top of the Binary Images section and I have not installed anything related to Safari but Windows media player.
Further down in the crash log it shows the following....What do you make of this ?? It is not causing a kernal panic, just makes Safari quit. Below this I have listed the info under Binary Images...

Are you tapping the blue + sign in the upper right corner of the Safari toolbar? That is what you do to open a new tab.

You can't, Safari on iOS 5 on the iPad uses tabbed browsing. You can try leaving feedback for Apple and maybe in a future update we'll get the choice of tabs or thumbnail/paged browsing : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
In the meantime I think that the (free) Opera browser and the iCab Mobile browser in the app store offer thumbnail browsing to some degree.

I can't activate my Apple one-to-one account that I purchased with my computer. I want to reserve a time to bring my computers into my local Apple Store for Personal Setup/file transfer (my old G4 Powerbook can't communicate with the OS Lion MacBookPro). I have an Apple ID and when I login my ID and Activation code are recognized, but when I accept terms and conditions in step 3, nothing happens. No error message, just stay on the same page. I get the same response whether I use Safari or Firefox.
What gives. Is there no way to reserve an appointment? Do I just need to bring my stuff in and hope I have to spend hours waiting to see someone?

They are stored in ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist.
To get to the library folder you need to hold the Opt key while hitting Go in the drop down menu in Finder.
To keep the library visible, run this command in Terminal
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
I see an item called "Last session.plist" which may still contain your's, but probably they are gone for good. I suggest some backup strategy in future, Time Machine or a clone.
Also make an archive copy of your bookmarks, by going to File>Export Bookmarks, an save it somewhere safe. (I do this for my Contacts and Calendars too, and keep them in a backup folder).

I'm logged into iCloud on all my devices, I can see tabs from my iMac on my Macbook. Just not from my iPhone.

The Safari tabs feature with iCloud will not be available until iOS 6 is available for iPhone.

Can't Close the Tabs in Safari

The X at the top right of each tab in Safari have dissappeared and I can't close individual tabs that I have open.
I would have to click FIle and then Close tab for each tab that is open. I like the other way better. What happened to it and how do I get the 'X' back? Thanks for your help!!

No there is no other icon besides the X to close the tab.
I don't think anyone installed any new software, extensions or plugin for safari. I share this computer with three other people so might be a possibility but I highly doubt it. I was trying to see if I can fix this issue by customizing my toolbar but there is no option for the tabs. Thank you for taking the time to help me with this!

I am aware that pinching out activates tab view in Safari, but is there a keyboard shortcut that also does this? I am aware of cmd+shft+arrow to go left or right a tab, but is there a keyboard shortcut that will activate tab view as an alternative to the pinching out gesture?

Hi Satish,
Your requirement sounds very un-usual to me. Sales area data will only be seen when sold-to is maintained.
I don't see any requirement why a prospect is to be maintained in a sales area, especially when he/she is not yet started any relation with sales organizational data.
It is better to promote a prospect as customer as and when required, rather than implemeting a complex code changes. Give a try to convience your business.
This is my general comment and not debating on your requirement.
