  • Why can't I add Google Mail account since upgrading to ios8.3?

Tryinh to add Google Mail account to iPhone 5c with ios8.3
it asks for email and password sign in and then goes back to the add account page.

If you have two-step verification turned on for your email account, you'll have to get instructions from your provider on how to set up your account on a mobile device.

I hate to add a third entry but this one will end the speculation about this problem.
Apple mail is not designed to create a new mail account! WIndows mail, all forms, is designed to create new mail accounts. If you are new to mac, and you try to create a new mail account and the account you try to create already exists because it belongs to some else, the a return code for an error is returned from the mail provider. Apple mail unfortunately trys to handle
the error but does not bother range checking the return code for validity. This results in what I said above and the mail crashes. Nothing that happens should ever cause a crash! There are a number of software errors in Apple mail that need attention. To fix this problem, just go to your email provider and create the account. Then add it in apple mail.
    This will work without error.

  • Can't add Yahoo mail account

I'm trying to add my 2nd Yahoo mail account, but the iPhone will not allow it. I always get the message "The username or password for imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect."
The username and password are both correct. The Yahoo mail account that I set up when I got my first iPhone back in 2007 is still working fine, but this new account can't be added. I can access the account just fine from the web.
I've seen this issue show up a lot in various forums, but I haven't found a solution yet. Does anyone have one?

For what it's worth. I have a pacbell.net account through at&t/yahoo. I have set up my email on my iphone 3G using the yahoo mail option. MY email is working and pushing just fine. I cannot, however, set up my daughters account on my phone, nor as the only email account on her iphone 3G. I get the message username and passoword incorrect. These are BOTH sub accounts and both have address as:
    [firstname]_[lastname]@pacbell.net
It is befuddling to me why one works and the other doesn't, they are set up identically through att/yahoo. I contacted yahoo and they told me its an iphone issue so I don't know where to go from here. I have not tried resetting network settings on the phone as I have a lot I do not want to loose plus I do not see any reports that this process actually works.
The only thing I can think of is the number of characters in the email address as my first name is only 3 letters and hers is 7.

  • HT4436 I want to Change the Full Name on my ICloud Mail Account, but I cannot Change it. Any Solution ?

    Dear All,
I need to change the Full Name on my Icloud E-Mail Account, but I cannot change it, Any Solution ?
    Tanguy

Go to icloud.com >> mail >> gear in the upper right >> preferences >> accounts.  You can change it there.  In my testing, I had to close and reopen my mail.app for it to take affect.

  • Can't add Icloud mail account to Yosemite

I upgraded to Yosemite when it launched. Mail app had been working fine since then, but yesterday it started giving issues with my ME account on the mail app. After much investigating, I decided to re-add the account and after deleting it from my internet accounts now it won't let me add it. Says it can't connect at this time.
This is getting infuriating. It works "fine" on my iphone 4 that obviously I haven't upgraded since iOS 8 won't work on it, but I can't be offline on my computer.
It is the correct password, I'm doing the proper procedure, this is ridiculous.

    Hi,
You say it's your iCloud ID  but then you refer to Internet Accounts as if it is a separate Mail ID.
Do you mean you are going to iCloud after you use Internet Accounts or is it a separate mail ID ?
If this is the iCloud ID  can you log in to the Web based version of iCloud in a Browser ?

  • I'm trying to add another mail account to T-bird but keep getting an "Incoming server already exists" error.

T-bird was hanging when trying to get email from my elitemail.org account (sub-domain of Fastmail.fm) so I tried deleting the account and starting over. I "thought" I cleaned out all instances of the incoming/outgoing servers and passwords, but apparently there's still a file that is hanging on to them somewhere. Before doing anything though, I 'did' .tar.bz2 the .thunderbird dir so I wouldn't lose any mail. Heck, I even went so far (after getting the above error the first time) of removing T-bird from the system, and deleting the .thunderbird dir! So I'm still getting the error, even on what is effectively a new install. What I want to know is, what file do I need to edit or delete (even AFTER backing up then deleting the .thunderbird dir) so Thunderbird really IS starting from scratch? Migrating my old email dirs is easy - but apparently getting rid of the mail servers takes an act of Congress.
Running Thunderbird 3.1.9 on Salix 13.37.

As far as Thunderbird is concerned, you can keep the profile (and any existing mail in that profile.
In any case, it should work with a new profile. Deleting the .thunderbird directory would cause Thunderbird to create a new profile when starting the next time. It would then come up empty, and you'll need to create an account again.
    Is this what you did?

  • Can't access my mail accounts since updating

On my iPhone, when I try & access my email accounts a new page appears "welcome to mail". When I select the account I want (hotmail, gmail or apples me.com) I am told the account already exist. Never had a problem before. I sure I'm being an idiot, but could someone please help.

    Danny and BDAqua,
Thank you for introducing this problem.
I have been having the same problem with a twist. I have 6 active email accounts that are normally checked by Apple Mail. After installing the most recent security update this morning, 4 of the 6 accounts stopped connecting to their respective ports. Two of them are POP accounts (both on port 995), two are IMAP (ports 993 and 143), all four use SSL in the advanced settings. Of the two accounts that still work, one is an IMAP account (port 143), the other is a POP account (port 110), both without SSL. Firewall is on.
    Mail Connection Doctor says:
"Could not connect to this POP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Accounts preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, uncheck the "Use SSL" checkbox in the advanced tab of Account preferences."
All four accounts require use of SSL.
I have tested their connections on two different wireless modems and an ethernet connection to the same network as one of the wireless setups. No change.
I have tried turning off my firewall. No change.
I have tried adding a Firewall Port connection for ports 995, 993, and 143 as both TCP and UDP numbers (independently and together). No change.
    Any other suggestions?

  • I can't add a mail account.

When i go to settings --> mailaccount it jumps back to the startup screen. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
    Regards

Have you tried to reset the device? That often cures little glitches. HOld down the home and sleep key until you see the silver apple and then release them. It's the equivalent of 'control/alt/delete' for the iPad.

  • Mail won't send/ download with BT yahoo pop mail account, constantly asks for password... any solutions?

I have a problem with Mail at the moment - it wont log into / send with a BT yahoo pop account.  Hours of uninstalling and reinstalling/ checking it hasnt changed servers etc... any ideas ?  This is a recurrent but intermittent issue.  Thanks!

Replying to my own post. The problem was in the Mail.app Preferences file (com.apple.mail.plist). It had become corrupted. I compared this file with a recent backup and discovered an inconsistency. I quit Mail, deleted the problem (two) lines from com.apple.mail.plist, restarted Mail and all was well. Used BBEdit to so this. Simply deleting com.apple.mail.plist and reentering all server info, etc. in Mail would also have done the trick—though with additional work.

Did you check your restriction settings on your ipod for changing accounts in Settings/General/Restrictions?

  • Can i add another email address to account

can i add another email address to my  account

Your best bet would be to try resetting the password to the account that you would like to use via iForgot
Once you log in to that account change the email address to anything, it can even be fake its just a placeholder
After you do that you will be free to change your old email address on your appleID to the new one that is now free to be used as it is no longer attached to the other account.

  • HT204053 we have moved over to iCloud but now we need a another email for a blog we are doing can we add another email but not alias

we have moved over to iCloud but now we need a another email for a blog we are doing can we add another email but not alias

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You can add an alias but not a second email address to your iCloud account. You can however add a second iCloud account to your iOS device (which will come with its own email address) at settings> mail, contacts calendars.
