I can't add mp4s to iTunes

Earlier this week, I converted a file the other day using Jodix iPod Converter and it worked fine. Later that same week I downloaded a video off video.google.com in mp4 format but it would not add to iTunes. Today I proceeded to convert another .avi video using the same converter, but it would not add to iTunes. I've tried dragging&dropping, File---->Add File To Library and have tried opening it with iTunes. None of which works.

first you open itunes and go to the library now in a different window open up where your video is nowq you drag and drop and if it does not go into your ipod it is because it is a file not capable of going into your ipod

Can I add to my iTunes library from my iPod? How? If I sync my iPod what happens to the music that is on my iPod but not in my iTunes library? If the music dissappears then how can I ever put more music on the iPod without losing songs on it that are not in my iTunes?

  • HT201209 Can I add to my iTunes account using my credit card?

Can you add to your iTunes account total with a credit card, or is a iTunes card the only way to add money?

If you add a credit card, it won't count towards the total; instead, it'll be charged after the gift card balance is used up, or when buying gifts.

  • My sons have shared an iPad but had just one iTunes account. How can we add a second iTunes account?

My sons have shared an iPad but had just one iTunes account. How can we add a second iTunes account?

There is no reason to add a second iTunes account to the iPad unless your sons want to use their own credit cards for purchases and somehow I don't think is the case here.
Anyway.... Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap that ID and sign out. Then tap sign in and tap Create new Apple ID.
If your sons sync with one iTunes library on a computer, it can get a little confusing with two IDs. If either of them has their own iPod and they have been sharing purchased content with the one Apple ID, it gets a little more complicated as well with two IDs.

  • Why can't i add mp4 to itunes?

On my mac (OSX 10.7.5) I'm running iTunes 11.0.1 and attempting to add to my iTunes library an mp4 video created by others. The mp4 file opens fine in QuickTime 10.1. In iTunes I select add to library, select the file, and receive no error message. But nothing happens. I've checked each of the options in my Movies library, and searched my entire library, with no luck. I don't see that the file was added.
I understand that iTunes does not accept some mp4 files, but it's my understanding the criteria is whether or not QuickTime can handle the file. Since QuickTime displays the video, I would assume iTunes would accept the file. Am I missing something?
    Thanks for your help!
    George

I had the same issue. In my case the solution was simple. On top iTunes (in my case 11.4) has five selections: unwatched, movies, genres, home videos and list. I alway had movies selected, not know it would only show watched videos. Select the pane "unwatched" and you will see all the movies you have added. Selecting "list" will show all - watched and unwatched videos. For some reason have never paid attention to these selections. However, I still think just displaying watched movies under a pane called "movies" is not very intuitive.

  • Can not add movie to itune

    Hi,
I just set up new itunes for ipod touch but i just can not add movie file (mp4) to library in itunes. Please help! Thanks so much!

Make sure you're looking for it in the Movies or TV Shows libraries, or do a search for it by name.
Did you check if the format is compatible with iTunes (QuickTime plays more formats if you have add-ons)?
"but when I open that file with itunes"
This statement confuses me as your point 1/ says you can't find it in iTunes.

  • Can only add mp3s to itunes by dragging individually, not through "Add to iTunes"

Obviously this poses a problem when you have 350GB of music to transfer..
Some background: I am a former PC user who sought a technician to recover files from a crashed PC hard drive. The technician recovered all files all transferred to an external HD (unfortunately not Mac formatted) and I connected to a new 4GB Mac mini. After transferring music files to a desktop folder, I can see my entire former itunes folder but around half of all files are grayed out. Sometimes it's the band names, sometimes the album or track names. My understanding is that these are hidden files, but after using the "killall finder" in terminal it does not change anything. If I go to "Add to itunes" I can pull up the folder but none of my music appears for me to sellect. I can individually drag any files (black or grayed) into itunes and they will work - they'll populate and back up in the mac's music files. This is the kicker, though - the grayed out mp3 are now black. They appear normal. The frustrating part is I can't shift files en masse, i can't only shift them by drilling down the file tree in my music folder and dragging groups of mp3s one album at a time. It would take me months and months of doing this to get everything onto itunes. PLEASE HELP! I cannot find any other examples of this on the net!! Is there software that can make itunes "see" the files again and enable me to import all at once?

Okay, never mind. I unchecked the 2nd box. :/ Doh...

  • Can't add vids to Itunes with windows vista

Can anyone tell me why I can't add any vids from my computer on to Itunes. I have tried dragging video file on to Itunes but that doesn't work. Any ideas?

Heres the fix.  I had to manually download iTunes 10.5.1 from Apple's website.  For some reason it wasn't auto updating.  After i finished installing, I opened iTunes, went to Store>Turn On iTunes Match. It prompted me to add my computer, and it went through the process.
Here's the link for the current version of iTunes (10.5.1)

  • I can't add music to iTunes with latest software and updates.

I just updated to Mavericks and I have version 11.1.3 (8) of iTunes.  I still had music in a folder that was not in the itunes media folder and now I can't add this music to iTunes or even play the music.  Is there anything I can do to fix this so I can add the music to iTunes?

Just try to downgrade to older ITunes version, there's serioud problem with lastest ITunes upgrade.
Time machine can fix this problem is ur latest backup was a few months ago and contains an older ITunes version.
Version 11.3 doesnt support iPod classic & 3th gen Ipod & Iphone anymore.
Its a matter of Apple politics.

  • Can't add mp3s to iTunes libaray

    Hi,
I've been having various issues with my iTunes library and duplicate tracks, so I decided to wipe everything and start fresh. Before I uninstalled, I was having problems adding songs to my library. I don't typically store the songs in my library, they stay on my server. It doesn't seem to matter though, I tried monkeying with the settings using both scenarios and have the same problem.
I followed the complete uninstall directions offered by support. After reinstall, I can't add any of my mp3s. The application literally does nothing when I try.
Any ideas? I'd rather not have to go to my PC to use iTunes. Or, I suppose I could dump it altogether and use an alternative.

    Hi,
Sorry, this won't be any help to you, but I'm having the same issue so don't feel all alone. Purchased a Sony digital audio recorder for live sound, plus external stereo mic. Very pleased with what it picked up. Saves files in mp3 format on internal flash mem. Then used WavePad to edit the file. Tried saving as mp3 and AAC but neither one can be moved to iTunes, either by drag and drop or "Add to Library." As in your case, nothing happens. No help found in this forum so far but will keep on looking. Good Luck!

I am having the same problem, got new iPad2 but becuase of this I am bit frustrated, can anyone help me. iTune version 10.5.0.142 windows XP. Before that it was working fine with iPod, but I think I updated the iTune and its not playing vedios even in iTune!! :s

  • Can't add music to iTunes 10.6.3

    Hi there,
I am running iTunes 10.6.3 on my OSX 10.5.8 . All of a sudden (well, maybe I just noticed it, but definitely within the last three weeks) - can't remember if I updated in that time period), I am unable to add music to iTunes. I can't drag and drop, can't do file --> add music to library, nothing. If I get music by converting youtube to mp3, THAT opens in iTunes, but I've just downloaded an entire album and don't really want to go converting fifteen+ songs one by one.
I don't have Cloud, don't have match.... can anyone help me?

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes, then select library.  Your library is stored in your Home > Music > iTunes > iTunes Library.itl file
iTunes can be picky about mp3 formatting and not all mp3s files are created the same.
