I can't add music to iMovie HD from iTunes

I think I have read all the posts on authorization that seemed relevant to me, but I cannot get iMovie to accept any content from iTunes. It keeps me in the "not authorized" loop. As recommended in some of the posts I have: 1) Trashed my SC info folder and restarted 2) de-authorized my computer then re-authorized it. 3) made sure I have the most recent version of iTunes. 4) Cursed like a sailor.
I bought a song from iTunes to try new content, didn't work. My password or account name has not changed. I am desperate because I am on a deadline and have to make this work.
HELP!!!
thanks

There seems to be a problem with the latest iMovie and purchased iTunes songs. The work around until Apple fixes iMovie is to put the song you need in a playlist, burn them to an Audio CD. Now in iMovie either try adding them directly from the CD, at which point they would be copied into the iMovie project as AIFF files or if that doesn't work (I ca not recall if you can add directly from a CD or not) then reimport the songs from the CD to iTunes (AIFF will work for sure and I have never had issues with music in MP3 format with iMovie projects) then use the reimported version in iMovie.
Cheers,
Patrick

  • Can't add music to iPhone 5 from iTunes 11

I am trying to manually add music to my iPhone 5 from iTunes 11. After dragging and dropping music onto the device, it appears under the music section of the device, except it is greyed out. I can't play the music, and when I check on the phone, the music isn't there.

    I figured it out...
Go to the playlist on your computer that you want to add to your device.
    1. Hightlight the song so you see the arrow and click on it.
    2. Click "Add To" and select the device and playlist you want to add it to.
You may have to create a new playlist on the device first and THEN add the music from your computer to the device.
Or highlight all the songs, right-click on the selection, and tell it to add to the playlist on the device...

I'm having the exact same issue, but still haven't figured out what it is. I note that at the top of this thread it indicates that there are two "helpful" entries and one "solved" entry, but I can't find the solved one, so maybe someone will repost it here or kindly link to it.
There is one icon missing though.
As I read through the excellent tutorial at http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/imovie_09stone.html I scroll down to the point where he talks about dragging music in from iTunes, which is what I'm trying to do. I can see, in his screen shot, the extra little icon that is a red oval and a white "1" in it. I don't get that icon when I am trying to drag my music into the video. I do get the green and white plus icon when I try to drag my music in. Also I DO get BOTH the red 1 and the green plus when I try dragging in a sound effect, which I can do with no problem. But why not the music?
I've been able to drag in music with no problem in other productions, so I can't figure out what is going on with this one. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere that got flipped, but I can't figure out where.
In desperation I also tried adding an extra title slide at the end of my video just to make sure there is more video time than music time in the production, but that didn't help at all.
    Any help guys?

    Hi
Due to some kind of copy protection in iTunes - I don't copy directly from this in iMovie
to my projects. (Most often the result of doing it in iMovie is a DVD without any sound)
    I do
    • In iTunes - collect needed audio into a new Playlist
    • then burn this out as an Audio-CD .aiff (NOT .mp3)
    • This CD I copy into a folder on my Mac (often containing other material that's connected to the project)
    • And then I drag and drop these .aiff files into my movie project in iMovie.
This works Greatly and even more so when I do my DVD.
    Yours Bengt W

  • I can no longer manually add music to my iPhone from iTunes; what happened?

Recently I have been unable to add new music to my iPhone from iTunes. I used to be able to just select the songs I wanted, then drag and drop them onto to the phone by hovering over the iPhone icon. Now I get a crossed-out circle icon when I try to do this. Why is this happening, and how can I work around it? I'm pretty frustrated, as you can imagine!

Thanks for the judgmental response, Dave. My favorite part was where you told me how to manage the space on my computer. My second favorite part was when you accused me to stealing music.
I have only synced my iPhone with one computer and its iTunes library. I download music legally to that computer, from mixtape sites, Bandcamp, Amazon and---GASP---other none iTunes sites, load it onto my iPhone, then delete some of it, because I don't listen to music on my computer. I listen to it on a device I purchased to play it. That device is called an iPhone. It's supposed to play mp3s.
    Have I blown your mind?
But if I am hearing you right, you are telling me the iPhone is literally the only mp3 player in existence that doesn't and shouldn't have the basic functionality to have new mp3s loaded to it from a single authorized computer. That I should be happy now that I cannot load new music onto it, and I should just live with the music that I have already loaded, since I can't load anymore.
And that I should be happy that this basic functionality that, until the most recent software update, I have always had has magically disappeared.
How foolish it was of me to be upset about this! Thank you for showing me the light, Dave.

  • Error while importing music in iMovie 09 from iTunes 09

    Dear All,
I need you help to solve a problem that drives me crazy. I have been working on a new projects for countless hours and had a lot of fun so far. This morning I updated the iTunes software and since then adding music seems impossible. The "+" icon appears when I drag a title in the project frame, but either I drop it in the grey zone and nothing happens, or I drop it on a clip and it is not a background music anymore...
    I am desperate! Please help!!!

  • Can't copy music to iphone 4 from iTunes after re-imaging laptop

I used to be able to copy music from iTunes (latest one) to my iPhone 4 wihtout any issues.  I re-imaged my laptop due to performance issues and then updated iTunes to the latest version again.  When I tried to copy music from it to my iphone 4, I get the little denial symbol (greyed out).  The laptop is authorized.  What's the problem?  Thank you for any help you can give me.

Update:  I backed up my music, and then did a sync with itunes.  I still can't copy any music to my iphone.  Any ideas?

  • Can't delete music that was downloaded from itunes wirelessly.

If I download music from itunes app, it seems to be permanent.  I have tried syncing with "manual" and "only checked music" options (and without) and I simply cannot delete those songs on my phone.  Anything that I've ripped from CD or downloaded from iTunes to my laptop are removable via syncing.
thanks for any help with this.

Ok, I figured it out, sort of.  I mentioned that I had "sync only checked songs" and "manually manage" both checked.  I went to the iTunes music tab and the "Sync Music" checbox was unchecked.  I checked it again, which of course unchecks "manually manage".  I told it NOT to transfer purchased items and synced.  the songs are finally deleted but I have to say this iTunes is not as intuitive as it should be.  I still don't get what I just did.  Trial and error.........

  • HT201272 How can I recover music I've purchased from iTunes store when my iTunes cannot find the file

I cannot re-download music I purchased from the iTunes store.  I followed the instructions from iTunes support but that did not work.
When I find the music in the iTunes store under purchases, it states "downloaded" and will not let me re-download it.
What other tricks are there to use.  I do not have the music on an iPod or CD because I always thought that once you bought it on iTunes, you could always re-download it if you got a new computor, etc.

If they appear under the Purhcased link as 'downloaded' then do you still have them listed in your iTunes library (where you would click on them to play them) ? If youdo then iTunes assumes that you still have them somewhere, and that there is no need to re-download them - try deleting one of them from your library and it should then get the cloud symbol for re-downloading.

  • Can't add music to iMovie '11 Slideshow!  Help!

I just installed (updated) iMovie '09 to iMovie '11 through the Apple Apps Store about 3 hours ago.  Then I started dropping/dragging pictures from iPhoto '11 to my New Project in iMovie '11, but now it will NOT allow me to drop & drag a song from the lower right-hand corner (of iMovie '11) like iMovie '09 allowed me to do many, many times in the future.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks!

I had the same problem.  It was because I had maxed out my iPod's capacity.  Once I deleted some things off my iPod to free up space I was able to drag my songs onto my iPod without any problem.  Good luck.  Hope this solves your problem.

  • How can I add music to my mini from an MP3 CD

I have about 800 songs recorded on a CD and I'm trying to add them to my iPod mini, but iTunes does not recognize the data. Is there a way for iTunes to allow me to do this? I can record music from a CD that is not MP3 format, but nothing that is already MP3 format. Please help...
    I am using Microsoft.

The CD music needs to be 'Added' into iTunes, not 'Imported'. There is a difference.
    Within iTunes:
    - Place the CD in the drive
    - File==>'Add folder'
    - Browse to the CD drive and select it
You will need to have the 'Copy files to iTUnes Music folder' box checked within the Preferences to have the MP3s copied to your PC HD, otherwise iTunes will just add the song references and leave the MP3s on the CD.
