I can't add music to my itunes.

Everytime I try to add/drag mucis on my itunes nothing happens.... can someone help me please? thanks -V

What format files are these? mp3? AAC? What is their source? Even if mp3, there are any programs that generate m3 and not all of them make them in a way iTunes will accept.

Since 10.4 I can't add music files to iTunes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
iTunes seems to scan and add them in gray, but fails to add the files to iTunes.

How can I add music from my Itunes to a slideshow?

I am having trouble adding music to a slideshow I created. When I click on the "add audio" it takes me to a screen where I can open my itunes but then it says the folder is empty. Does it not recognize the itunes format?

It’s always been a bit hit & miss. Often you need to remove Album Art in iTunes, from the music file.

Apparently I wasn't clear. The music on my ipod is but a subset of all the music on my external hard drives. I want to import only the songs and playlists from my existing ipod into the itunes library on my new computer, which currently has no music or playlists. How can I do this?

have you check to make sure your songs are on your computer http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391? you can transfer purchases http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848. you can also use yamipod or music rescue to get data.

Can't add music to ipod touch even though computer and itunes recognize it

I have an ipod touch 4th generation that has suddenly stopped allowing me to add any music to it. It worked absolutely great with no problems for about a year and suddenly when I load it up on itunes I can't add any music to it at all. if I try and drag any music from my computer on to it, I get this no icon as you can see
Same if I try and add music from my itunes library.
I've done pretty much everything I can think of to try and fix this, I've completely wiped itunes from my computer and re-installed, I've made sure that my ipods ios is up to date, I've reset my ipod, I've completely erased my ipod and restored it to factory settings. I have an old backup but it fails every time I try and restore it, saying that the backup session failed. I've tried resetting the lockdown folder as recommended but when I delete it, itunes can't connect to my ipod, so I ended up restoring the lockdown folder back to where it was from my trash can. I've made sure all my drivers are up to date and my computer is AMD so i know its not an intel chipset/ipod issue. I've turned off my antivirus and computer security programs and that made no difference at all.
These problems are the same when tried on another computer and I'm sure I've done other things as well but I'm drawing a blank trying to think them up.
I have an old ipod mini that has absolutely no problems at all using the same itunes and computer so I'm pretty sure this issue is located just on this ipod. I bought it used on amazon so the warranty and service coverage have already expired, so I kinda have to figure out how to fix it myself..
Anybody help at all with this would be greatly appreciated

I don't see how it could be windows causing the issue since my other ipod works fine with this installation of windows on this computer and I don't at the moment have anyway to back up what I have on my computer in order to re-install windows, but maybe if nobody else has another solution I'll look into it. Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me. Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

Yes. Import it into the iTunes library, convert it if needed, and sync the iPod with that iTunes library.
iTunes will not import or convert protected WMA or WMV content.

Can't add music to iTunes Library

As the subject states, I am no longer able to add music to my iTunes Library. If I try to add a song, it tells me that I do not have permissions to write to my Music folder. I went to the Music folder's Get Info window, and under Ownership and Permissions, this is what it said:
You can: Read & Write
Details:
Owner: admin (lock is locked)
Access: Read & Write
Group: admin
Access: Read & Write
Others: No Access
By the way, 'admin' is my short name. I have tried repairing my permissions with Disk Utility, but it did not correct anything in my Music folder. I have looked at permissions for other folders, and some say 'staff' as the group. Should I change the group to that? This is becoming very frustrating. If anyone knows what may be going on here, please _do not hesitate_ to tell me.

Have you tried authorizing your computer? In iTunes go up to Store, then Authorize Computer. Type in your user name and password and click "Authorize". You will then get a pop-up window stating if your authorization was successful or not. Hopefully this will give you access to do as you please with your Music Library.

You can give the person a copy of the song files, which they can then add to their iTunes library.
