I can't add music to my new iphone 5.

So I can't add any music to my new iphone 5. When I have dragged all the music I want to my iphone, it's all greyed out and wont play it. I have also tried to check the box in "sync all music".
Thanks.

Is it purchased music? If so, have you tried logging in to the App store from the phone using your Apple ID? Sometimes it needs a kickstart to know that the phone is authorized by using the ID and password from the phone.

  • I need to transfer playlists from my old iphone into itunes so that I can then add them to my new iphone 6.  However, none of the playlists on my iphone appear when I connect to my macbook.  I have read other threads but have not found answer.  help!

I am a group exercise instructor and rely heavily on my playlists.  My old phone is an iphone 4s and I just bought an Iphone 6.  I also have a macbook where I keep my itunes account, but I create all my playlists on my phone.  I need to transfer those playlists from my old iphone into itunes in my computer so that I can then add them to my new iphone 6.  However, none of the playlists on my iphone appear when I connect to my macbook.  I have read other threads where the suggestion was to attach the old phone to itunes, find the phone in itunes and click the little arrow to the left to show the playlists.  Then right click on the playlist and export it, saving it to the desktop, to then import it into itunes.  However, in my case, the playlists do not show up when the phone is connected to itunes.  I have clicked on the little arrow and all I get is "music", "purchased", etc., but none of my playlists.   I'm sure some years back I probably deleted something in my itunes library and now none of my playlists show.  Please help me.  I would hate to have to recreate all of my playlists.  Thank you!

I know it sounds weird, and that is the reason I posted my question.  Because my case is not like all the ones I've found online and it's confusing.  I added a screen capture of my itunes with my old iphone (the one that houses my playlists) connected to it.
My playlists "ARE"  in my iphone 4s.  They are still there even though they do not show up when I plug in to itunes in my computer.
When connecting my phone to itunes on my macbook, the playlists do not appear anywhere in itunes.  I have found my connected iphone icon, I have clicked on the arrow next to it and it does pull up the standard lists that come with the iphone/itunes:  Music, Movies, TV shows, books.  That's it! below that is "Genius" and below "Geniuns" is "PLAYLISTS"  but the only playlist of mine that shows there is one that I created several years back titled "90's music" and that one I created it on my computer, not my phone.  Under "90's music" there are also other standard playlists that itunes automatically adds.
Does anyone else have this issue or know how to get around this.  I am starting to think that I am going to have to recreate these lists on my computer

  • I'm running a Windows 7 and I keep getting the error message:Apple Mobile Device failed to start. How do I download iTunes to add music to my new Iphone 5 :c

I just bought the new Iphone 5 and i cant get itunes to download, I keep getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I have no idea what that mean my iPhone connects to my computer and charges and i can import pictures it just iTunes that won't work.
PLEASE I NEED HELP FROM ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • HT202213 I have a new computer we set up with itunes home sharing. Can I add music to this new computer sync my iphone and ipod to it instead of the original computer. I'm not sure if it makes a difference if I have a different apple id than with our orig

I have a new computer that we set up with itunes home sharing and I need some assistance. I also have my own apple id and would like to make the new computer the one I use for my music. Should I set up a whole new itunes library/account or still work with the home sharing?

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
    As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books.

  • 16mm movie transferred to dvd - now how can i add music and burn new dvd?

Hi, Sorry...I'm totally a newbie with the software and of course my boss wants me to make magic and fedex her old movies which were transferred to dvd by Helix, a professional photo joint. I don't need to change any thing on the movie itself but would like to add a music loop. I thought I could do this in IDVD but doesn't seem so. I was able to make a copy through disk utility but now stuck. Any helpers out there?!

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

  • Can't add music from itunes to iphone 4

Stop shouting, it simply does not help your cause or make others want to assist you.
Has the content been moved from the old computer to the new computer?  If not, copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
iPhones are designed to sync to one and only one computer, attempts to sync to a second computer will cause iTunes to want to wipe the device.  It can also prevent the user from manually managing content on multiple computers.

  • Help, I can't sync music to my new iphone 4S

I just got a replacement iphone and upgraded to a 4S (from a 4).  Everything else synced just fine, even my podcasts!  But not my music?  Can someone please help?

    Check these items:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings check "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library check all the songs you want to sync to your phone
Make sure there are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
Authorize your computer for all Apple IDs used for any purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize This Computer)
Check "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
After all these look correct, try syncing your phone.

Basically, my old laptop was stolen out of my car, so bought a new one. I've put all my backed up music onto my new laptop, but can't add music from my new laptop to my iPhone. I've deauthorised my old laptop and authorised my new one, but iTunes wont let me drag music across into my iPhone. What do I need to do to add music to the phone?

iTunes Match is a subscription system that allows you to upload your own music (e.g. coped from CDs) to the cloud so that it shows (in the cloud) on your devices and computers without having to sync/copy it.
Automatic downloads allows to, for example, buy an app on your computer's iTunes and have it automatically download on your phone without having to connect and sync it or go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your download and download it yourself - but doing that, going to the Purchased tab and redownloading an app, should get it associated.
But no, I'm not aware of any problems that not having it associated causes.

  • Can only add music with Autofill from Library (not working with playlists)

I can only add music using the Autofill feature and it will only work when the main music library is selected. Autofill does not work when a playlist is selected and I can not add music directly by dragging songs from a library or playlist as described in the owner's manual.
Is there something wrong with iTunes, the iPod or is this user error?

    Hi Steve,
You're right it's the same for me.
I don't know as you mentionned whether it is an user error or not but I've got 2 iPods now, one is 60 Go color display (60Go) and the other received yesterday is 2G iPod Shuffle (Clipod). I can't drag songs from 60Go nor to iTunes Library neither to Clipod Music. The autofill function works only from iTunes Library where I've got 5 songs only (new MacPro), somebody knows how to export 60Go music to iTunes Library ?
    Thanks,

  • After updating to iOS 7, I can't add music to my 4S.

I had no problems upgrading to iOS 7 yesterday, but afterwards I couldn't add music to my phone. I add everything manually, and tried to add an album last night, but when I dragged the album over to my phone, it just blinked twice and then the album sat on my iPhone unsynced. Then today, after plugging my phone in to my computer, iTunes sat on "Waiting for changes to be applied." I figured this is what was keeping my music from syncing onto my phone, so I looked up some solutions (none worked) and the only thing that happened was all of my music on my phone got deleted for whatever reason.
I still can't add music and this is what happens every time I try to add any song to my phone:
I really don't want to have to restore my phone to factory default, although I'm thinking that is what I'm gonna have to do.

I've spent the last two hours trying to get some new mp3's onto my iPhone 4 from iTunes!
It just won't work no matter what I try!
I pay for Match but it's pot luck whether or not it decides to sync your music between devices in a timely manner. Normally it takes a few hours before my song finally shows up on my iPhone!
    That's absolutely no good!!
I make music and constantly have fresh, new tunes that I need to put on my iPhone to listen to in my car, on a walk, in the shower, on a stereo system, etc, etc.
I don't want to be waiting a random number of hours before I can hear my tunes!!
I turned off Match so I could add tunes to my iPhone manually, but every time I drag any songs over to my phone, iTunes says "preparing to update" and then gives up after a few minutes, having tranferred absolutely nothing over to my iPhone!!
I'm seriously pulling my hair out here!!
It's so pathetic that I can't help but laugh every time Apple's products fail with such simple, basic tasks. It's ridiculous and farcical. A joke.
    Help!

    Hi Gregg,
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.
    Cheers,
