Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your particular Graphics Driver ( AMD, Nvidia, Intel etc ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
Recovery Manager - Windows 8.
Recovery Manager - Windows 7
Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • How can i adjust my screen brightness? HP ProBook 4530s

I cant adjust my screen brightness. Fn+f2, f3 show the brightness bar at the dimmest point and doesnt make any change. The manual way of going through Control Panel then display, personaisation also doesnt work. I am running Win 7 Pro registered version. This si really annoying and strains my eyes to the point that i just cant work. Please give me a fix. Thanks for reading.

    Hi:
Did you install the Intel chipset driver and the applicable graphics driver for your model?
Normally the reason you can't adjust the brightness is due to one or both of those drivers not being installed.

  • Sometimes the function keys stop working (can't adjust volume, screen brightness, keyboard backlighting), and at the same time I'm unable to restart, log off, or shut down in any way.

It's quite inexplicable, as I'm not able to access some system functions — I can't even open the force quit dialog to see if something has crashed. I can't open my Mac information (via "About this Mac"), but I can open System Preferences. Maybe all these functions share a common underlying process, I don't know.
I haven't found a way to fix this other than to hard restart the MacBook Pro by holding down the power button. I don't like doing that! I wish there was a workaround. Anyone have an idea?

This entire thing is a hair over four months old, I don't think it should be acting up this much. Plus, this problem happens only once out of every 40 or 50 times I start this thing up. It's very infrequent, but it's there, and it just bothers me, I guess.
That said, I would try reinstalling, but I wouldn't be able to tell if it'd worked unless the problem never cropped up again in a long, long time. Sadly I also don't have access to my OSX discs at the moment (I'm out of the country).

  • The scale to adjust my screen brightness has disappeared.

I have a HP Pavilion g6. It runs Windows 7.
I use to be able to click the battery icon on the bottom right of my screen and select the Adjust Screen Brightness button.
It would normally bring up the battery control panel screen and at the bottom would be a light scale that allowed me to adjust my screen brightness. Well I don't know what happened bt the scale has completely disappeared and even when I press the adjust screen brightness button, the scale still doesnt show up.

Either you can enable it with a RMB at a symbol on the right bottom (battery?) or you maybe have to re-install some drivers.
    You can go here:

Enter your product number and search for HP lauch button or similar.

  • [SOLVED] Can't change laptop screen brightness.

I'm using GNOME and can't seem to change my laptop screen brightness. The slider in settings will work by changing the value in intel_backlight between 0 and 4882 but the actual brightness of the screen will not change.
If I use the kernel line acpi_video = vendor all it does is create another interface called dell_backlight alongside intel_backlight which changes from 0 to 15 by changing the slider or pressing fn  + f5 and fn + f4.
I have nouveau and intel graphics drivers installed and I'm running arch on a Dell XPS15 (L521x).
    Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Solved this by adding the kernel parameter video.use_native_backlight=0

Yes I have tried this, unfortunately GDM will not start if this is enabled.

  • My 2009 iMac is making a very loud, rapid pulsating electronic noise. It stops temporarily after adjusting the screen brightness or using certain apps. But it always returns

My 2009 iMac is making a very loud noise. It sounds like a rapid, pulsating electronic noise. It stops when the screen brightness is adjusted or when using certain apps. But it always returns and is getting louder. The unit was shut down for 4 months and the house temperature was set to 5C. It was powered up 2 weeks ago and ran fine for a while. Then in the last 5 or 6 days the problem started. 5 days ago I did watch a bike race for 3 or 4 hours from a quasi legal stream. I am not tech savvy. Just very confused as I've had a trouble free run so far. Ditto with my iphone5.

I would recommend taking it in immediately to your local Apple Store or AASP to be loooked at by an Apple Genius. I suspect you made a goof somewhere but diagnosing noises without seeing it is really difficult.

  • I can't reduce my screen brightness

this happened after i deragraded my system Hp 15-r005nia Notebook Pc from windows 8 to windows 7. ever since then i can't seem to reduce the screen brightness. please i need a solution to this problem.
Thanks i will be anxious to get a souution to this because it really affects my eyes each time i'm working.

    Sorry that driver didn't work.
It is for the Celeron N processors but I was hoping it would work for the Pentium N processors too.
Unfortunately, there is no solution to your problem other than to install W7 64 bit if you want to install W7.
There is a W7 64 bit driver for the Pentium N processors.

  • Can't disable auto screen brightness on M92z even after using power manager

I find the auto screen brightness annoying and have been trying to disable it.  When I go into power manager and turn off "auto" it works, but once I reboot, it's back on again.
I've gone into the sensor section of power manager and disabled the sensor but that too does not stick.  I've also checked that "magic brightness" setting as well.  Nothing seems to stick after a reboot.  Things work until I reboot.
I have installed the latest power manager, but 2 things seem strange.  website says latest version is 3.40.0002 but when download and install that version it reports 3.40.0001 (notice the 1 vs the 2).  Also in control panel it says power manager 32 bit but my OS is Windows 7 64 bit.

Alright, so this is ridiculous. Back to square one with nothing booting. I managed to get it booted up once fully, and another time booted off the OS10.3 disc (froze during disk repair in Disk Utility).
I don't have another hard drive to try, and I've taken it apart and reset everything.
    Any ideas?

  • Can I adjust the screen size w/o causing playhead to jump and reposition?

I have been used to Ableton Live, that lets you adjust the size of the screen on the fly WITHOUT causing the playhead to jump and reposition itself. Does anybody know what I mean? This may seem like a small thing or hard to understand concept, but it's the most simple of behaviors that I find hard to adjust to in Logic. I am committed to learning all the ins and outs of the program, and have already started to migrate over. It would be helpful if someone could let me know if there is something I can do to approximate what I can do in Live.
    Thanks a million.

Hi treetopstudio. I'm pretty sure what you're describing is the need to zoom in and out of the arrange view so that you can see upclose what is happening or have a view of all the tracks if needed. I've not used live much so cant really comment on the process involved using this program. If I use live and I need to zoom in or out I simply click and drag on the timeline.
In logic I use zoom key commands for doing such a thing. I found this pretty easy to master and use them all the time.
The default for this (on my imac) is the command key plus one of the arrows (up, down, left & right).
You can also hold down the alt key and use the scroll ball (if your mouse has one) for doing this but I find the keys far better.
There are most definately other options available too but this works fine for me.
    Hope this helps

  • Why do I get a loud hum when adjusting the screen brightness?

I am getting an annoying Hum and the loudness depends on the how bright I have the screen, as I turn it down the hum becomes quieter.  This is super distracting as I like to run my sound through external speakers, but the hum is just enhanced.  I brough my unit it for service, they sent it out and said nothing was wrong with it.... Any ideas?  None of my other computers make this hum!

Sounds like the inverter, which powers the screen is going bad. I'd bring it back.

    Go to http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-w-series-laptops/thinkpad-w54...
    Run the downloaded executable/installer.
Then when the installation files have been extracted, just uncheck the checkbox that asks you if you want to run the installer right now. We want to install the Intel driver manually, because the installer made by Lenovo doesn't overwrite the already installed Intel HD Graphics driver if it is newer than the one you are trying to install.
You will find the extracted setup files by default at: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\VIDEO\
The driver you need is located here: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\VIDEO\INTEL
Run setup.exe in the Intel folder to install the Intel HD Graphics driver manually. If it notifies you that you already have a newer driver installed, just continue the installation.
