As above, iv tried Vlc but im a mong and cant work out how to get the dvd to play after downlaoding the software, iv gone to settings and changed the Cd DVD setting to Vlc but i still wont work, please help

That's normal. Blame the MPAA for being so uptight about broadcasting copyrighted video. Some DVDs come with a specially formatted video that will work on iTunes. Otherwise you are left with hardware only connections, such as described below: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2821

Optical discs are prone to read errors, particularly when finger prints, fluff, etc. get on the reading surface, so redundant information is added in such a way that minor errors can be corrected. I bought a cheap commercial DVD that had a serious pressing error, causing the movie to jump. Windows explorer failed to read the DVD but I did find a program (forgotten which) which made 10 attempts to read the faulty sector before carrying on. The following are the basic steps to transfer your iTunes Media folder from your MacBook Pro to the Time Capsule (TC). Note: You will leave the iTunes Library, and its associated files, on the MacBook Pro as you will only be moving the media files.
Be sure to shutdown iTunes before starting.
Next, move the "iTunes Music" folder, located in ~/Music/iTunes/, to wherever you want on your TC's internal hard drive. Remember to leave the Album Artwork folder, as well as the three individual library files where they are on the MacBook Pro.
Wait a while. If you have a large library, this will take a bit of time.
Once the iTunes Media folder has been transferred, open iTunes. Note: It will still be looking at your local iTunes Library on the MBP. As such it will think that the iTunes Media folder is still on the MBP as well. However, we just relocated it to the TC. If you attempt to select any song, you will get an error that the song is "missing." Not to worry, we will correct this in the next step.
We need to tell iTunes the media has moved to the TC's internal HDD. To change where iTunes "looks" for the media, open iTunes and go to the Advanced > General tab and use the "Change..." button to tell it where your new "iTunes Music" library is located.
Once this is done iTunes will likely pop up a progress window telling you that it's re-analyzing your library. Let it complete this step.
As a final check to make sure everything when as planned, click on any library file from within iTunes and press cmd + i (or View > Get Info). At the bottom of the Summary tab in that window is a "Where:" section that tells you the actual file path to that piece of media; be sure that path begins with the name of your TC's drive, and not "Macintosh HD."

I have created files within the mail app and want them to be the same on my mac and iphone.

You need a mail server that supports this then. Hotmail premium I believe does, but the free version does not. Gmail supports it, and any ISP that offers IMAP supports this capability. iCloud definitely supports it, so if you create a free iCloud email account and switch your primary email to it you would have this capability.

Appears essential to keep resource-forked data off Lion disk:
First attempt with Eudora on SL VM was sharing data on Lion disk. Error messages on open like "can't find Table of Contents" suggest Lion ate resource forks crucial to Eudora.
Found success by transferring data from SL Mac to thumb drive, then mounted drive in SL VM so Lion couldn't touch.
While Michael warns against storing data in VM, appears there's no choice with Eudora. At least She's enthroned on a mirrored RAID.
There is Nothing like Eudora! (to tune of "There is Nothing Like a Dame" from South Pacific -- Oops! my gray hair is showing!)
(It's amazing Parallels can force Lion to store taboo resource forks. Thank God for code warriors!)

You need to establish if it was 1080p or 720p HD you downloaded.
If it's 1080p it will not play at all on AppleTV1 - the hardware is not powerful enough to decode 1080p h264 (or 720p above 25fps). When AppleTv1 came out most items were SD only and with time more 720p HD stuff became available. 1080p content cm after AppleTV 1 and 2 were replaced by AppleTV 3.
AppleTV2 can process but not display 1080p - it is stuck to 720p output.
AppleTV1 could only process 720p max, but could always upscale on output to 1080p!
Your iTunes Preference should determine what quality you are downloading/renting.

Be sure nothing is on top of the Mac Mini. BT and Wi-Fi antennas are just beyond the top. If something is onto the Mac Mini, wireless job will not be OK.

Slowness...First Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them. Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job.
After that Repair Permissions. No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.

The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that nothing could be further from the truth has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That worked for some, but is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple. Also, you can complain bitterly here, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between using iCloud and burning DVDs:

Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD.
You could also Roxio Toast.

Why can't I print from my Mac 10.6.8 to my newly purchased HP CM1415fnw (supposedly air print enabled) but I can print to it from my PC? I thought mac's we're supposed to be easier and this printer is not discoverable wirelessly on my mac or iPad/iPhone/Ipod, but it is from my PC? I can only print from the mac/iPad/iPhone/iPod to this printer IF the wired cable is installed. Seems like HP has the problem, but the mac can't even pull up the printer's web page unless there is a wired ethernet connection. Yes, it is working just fine wirelessly with my PC's on the network.

Like the question, I've connected my ipad to my Mac & my Apple TV but I would like to listen to music from my Mac in a different room and have the sound come from the iPad, I can control itunes and Apple TV from my ipad what is useful if I'm in the same room but what I really want is to know how to control the sound to come from the iPad, I can listen to stuff from cloud but the internet has a nasty habit of cutting out so airplay would be cooler.. Does anyone have any ideas?

Though I find it a bit misleading to say you can stream what you want to any device around the house.. Why would I want to sit in another room playing music in another, I can't exactly carry my mac around the house.
If you don't want to store loads of music or films on your phone or ipad that couldn't store all what I've got on my mac I'd say that would be the most useful feature, so you can play it on another device.
I live and work in a bar and sometimes DJ or just like to just pump music round the bar without messing about taking stuff on and off my ipad.
There just seems to be a lot of needless limitations, like you can't even get all the content you would watch ether... When you can get everything on a laptop and plug it into a TV and watch what you want and have a 500 to 1tb hard drive on it.
I really like the idea's their coming up with but their not quite there yet.
I often wonder why they just don't do a Full HD TV with a mac inside it and doubles up as a stereo and you can just stream everything from it.
Maybe in the future.
