I can't automatically set date

Since we just changed time, I thought my iPad would automatically update.  It didn't, so I checked the iPad users guide.  It said that I could select "Set Automatically" but this option is not available in my settings.  Has anyone had this problem?  What did you do?  I don't want to always have to manually set the time.

In what part of the world did you purchase your iPad?
I have read where some users have had settings missing on their iPads but I cannot remember what the cirumstances were in those cases. It would make no sense for this setting to not be on your iPad - at least in my opinion. You can try these basics ...
Quit the settings app. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Apple Mail: How can I automatically set a signature, depending on the sender (have several for one account), NOT on the account?
I have some comma-separated senders in my Apple Mail accounts, some for business, some for private (using the same account). When I'm sending a business mail, I would like to append my business signature, when I send a private one, either nothing, or a fun signature.

  • Automatically set date and time in PDF file

    Good Day to all
I use LiveCycle to create a PDF template so my users can fill up reports with out printing, the problem is the "time/date" field changes every time the supervisor open the file, so there is no way to track the date the report was created.
I'm looking for a way (any trick) to make the automatically set but only when I save the document instead when I open it, I hope I'm explaining myself.
Or maybe I just need to use another software, if you can recomend me one, or a trial just to be sure is the one I need.
    Any help would be great!!!...
    Thanks!!!

You probably might have placed the code to populate the Data/ time value on the initialize event. Before you assign the current system date, check if the field has a value already. If it has then do not assign a new value.
    Thanks

  • Automatically Setting Date and Time - How often does it occur?

Can anyone tell me exactly when Mac OS X retrieves the date and time from Apple's time server? Quite often, the time on my Mac is several seconds out from the correct time. When I open the "Date and Time Preferences", it seems to sync up with the correct time and everything is good.
Is there any way to schedule when Mac OS X automatically sets the time, or how frequently over the course of a day it sets the time? Or, alternatively, does anyone know of a utility that I can use to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    Hi Barry,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have a wristwatch that receives a radio signal which transmits the correct date and time from an atomic clock in Fort Boulder, Colorado. The watch automatically picks up this signal three times a day (in the early morning so as to get the correct time once we go on/off DST) and sets my watch to it. So my watch is always accurate (so long as it can receive this signal). I have an alarm clock that uses the same principle. It's actually kinda nice...I can look at my watch and KNOW I have the right time!
At any rate, that's how I know my Mac's clock is out a few seconds...I just check it to my watch.
The real reason I would like to be able to schedule this function (or, at least have it occur more often) is so my Palm TX gets the correct time from my Mac each morning. I automatically sync it to my Mac every morning, and one of the conduits actually synchronizes the Palm clock to the one on my Mac.
I'm just curious to find out when exactly Mac OS X sets the clock. Does it happen once a day? Once a week? I haven't had my Mac for all that long, so I do not know what will happen when we go off DST this spring. Will OS X (based on the date) just bump up its clock by one hour, or will it actually get the correct time from Apple's time server and sync the Mac clock to it?
And, if there's no way the change when this happens or the frequency with which it occurs, is there anyone out there who has written a utility which can do this?
What about Automator? I'm new to the Mac world, so I am just learning about all this stuff. When I open the Date and Time System Preferences, the clock seems to sync up at that point. Could I use Automator to do this?
As always, any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks again for your reply, Barry!

  • Automatically setting date and time

Is there any way to automatically set the date and time on an iPod Touch? I don't think so, but I thought maybe there was a third-party app or some other work around to do this. I don't see why this isn't built into the OS. I know the iPhone can do this by getting time information from the cellular network, but why cannot this be done also over a wireless network? My computer can connect to a time server over the internet.

  • Can i automatically set the timestamp of a file based on part of its filename?

I have a bunch of files (approx. 500) with the same name pattern, that is : name_CreationDate.pdf. For instance: invoice015_2013_06_25.pdf or invitation035_2012_11_30.pdf. The last 10 digits are always the creation date. The original timestamps of the files have been messed up by a batch application which set them all to the same day; therefore they mean nothing anymore.
Is there a way to automatically set the timestamp (for instance the "Creation Date" one) to the date indicated in the filename? I was thinking of Automator or some kind of shareware/freeware. Does anyone of you have an idea about this? Ideally as a batch rather than individually.
    Thanks,

Thank you for your script. I made a test based on your script:
    a) I copied a PDF file on my desktop and named it "URSAFF 1er trim 2012_1998_09_19.pdf". The date component I want to set ultimately is therefore 1998_09_19.
    b) I created a service in Automator and pasted your script in a "Run a Shell Script" command. I added the Get Specified Finder Items at the beginning to be able to test the script on the file from Automator. (See screen shot of Automator below)
    c) The script appears to run successfully but I don't see a change in the timestamps of the file after I display Get Info from the Finder. (See screen shot of Get Info after I run the shell script)
I wonder if my Region settings (I am based in France) do not interfere with the date/time string layout compatible with touch in your script. Just in case, I have added a capture of these settings.

  • Can't remotely connect to my server if I automatically set date and time

    Hello.
I have configured my OS X 10.6.2 server and am able to remotely manage it.
The only ports I have opened on my router is for Mail and VPN services.
Things work perfectly because I can connect using VPN to iChat, iCal, Address Book, Server Admin, Workgroup Manager, AFP, FTP and such.
The problem is that on my laptop from home, or wherever, if its time is set to update automatically from an NTP server (I have tried with Apple's as well as my server for the NTP Servers) then I cannot connect to my server at all...
The moment I turn off the auto date and time and reconnect to the office's VPN, I am able to use Server Admin, AFP, FTP, Workgroup Manager, Screen Sharing, etc, etc, etc.
It's utterly frustrating because I have to open system preferences, disable the automatic date and time update, connect to the VPN and do stuff on the server. Then I have to disconnect from VPN and re enable the auto date and time.
Could someone explain why this is happening and any possible solutions I might be able to try?
    Thanks in advance,
    Felipe.

OK, after some testing things seem to be working now.
I opened the NTP port for my server (So I don't have to be on VPN to update the time)....But regardless of that, Server admin and my corporate site work fine.
Here is my problem, I don't understand why it's working now when 30 minutes ago I was having trouble connecting to my server regardless of what NTP Server I used.
The only service I can't access is Workgroup Manager, but I don't know if that is supposed to be accessible only locally (though it doesn't matter since I can screen share but I would still like to know).
    Thanks in advance,
    Felipe.

  • Can no longer set Date and Time to Automatic

anyone else having this issue. Initially I turned it off because the iPad always ran about a minute slow.
After I got the 3.2.1 update I thought I'd switch it back on to see if things had improved but the option is totally gone.
Have restarted the device, restored from iTunes but still had no luck.
    Any ideas?

Yeah they must've taken it out. I see there are few discussions here about the iPad losing time when set to automatic. I was usually about a minute out from all my other devices. Now that it's set manually it does seem to hold time better.

  • I have an apple tv that wont stream video and wont automatically set date and time

Would like help setting up apple tv
I can stream netlix with no issue with my  iPad and on both a notebook PC and desktop
The apple TV says its connnected to the internet when I check internet settings however it will not set the date and time upon initial power up and I cannot view any internet content

This sounds like a port issue. Somebody (possibly wjosten) posted a list of ports that need to be open in order for the ATV to work correctly.
Check your router set up and see if there are any services that are open for your iPad but blocked for the ATV

  • Ipad will not automatically set date and time

My ipad drained and when I recharged it the date read 31 Dec 1970.  Now it will not automatically connect and update the date and time, and cannot connect to itunes.  I can recieve emails on this device but I can's send emails.  So it must have some kind of connectivity...would appreciate any comments or help.  Very frustrated.

Try resetting it.  Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

  • Can Mail automatically set a certain email account to reply to business contacts?

I have two gmail accounts enabled in the new Mail client. One for business and the other is my regular. It is crucial that I reply to business clients using my business email.
In Mail's reply window, it gives me the option of choosing which account to reply with, but this is cumbersome and tedious and I have already replied with the wrong account a few times. For professionalism, this cannot happen again.
I'd like to use the Mail client for all my accounts but for now I am forced to split my email workflow up by using a single email account in Mail and the other in a web browser (gmail.com, logged into a single account) and so on .
In iOS, I have to use two apps for email.
It would be glorious to have seperate contact lists for each account so that when [email protected] sends me an email or I list her as the recipient in an email my professional email address [email protected] is automatically the account responding or touching base with her.
Maybe Automator or a type of action could remedy this.

For the gmail accounts, do you have separate ID and Login, or is one an alias?
In Mail preferences under the composing tab, set it to send from Account of Selected Mailbox.
In the Accounts tab, set the correct outgoing server (should have different IDs) to the correct account and check the box to use only that server with that account.
Setting the outgoing server to a specific server will not swap servers when one fails. Instead, you will be prompted to select another server if it fails.
If you have the main inbox highlighted, replys should come from the account it was sent to. You can also expand the inbox to reveal the separate accounts under. If you have the business account highlighted, then any message sent will be from that account.

  • How can you  automatically disable data on a phone when the user hits the limit?

One Verizon phone rep said she would take care of it for me.  Obviously that didn't happen so Verizon robbed me of $50 in overage fees.
Next Verizon store rep told me to go online and do it.  Still haven't figured it out.  So, anyone know the answer?
Not Thrilled at all with the amount of time I've spent trying to get this accomplished.

That gets trickier, you can install apps to monitor but stopping usage may require FamilyBase from Verizon at an additional monthly cost.

  • How can I automatically changing date in my strip when I sign on?

My big flower power iMac had an article in my monthly Mac magazine, and I was able to some how change my settings, so upon log on, date changed in my bottom strip. Have updated to 10.4, and wonder if there is a way to change in this program? Thanks for any help I might get

    bingo351,
    Your post is slightly cryptic.
Do you mean that the iCal date on the Dock is incorrect?
Do you have a link to the article in your Monthly Mac Magazine?
    ;~)

  • How can I automatically set iCal delegates?

I have everyone in my office set up as a Open Directory user.  I'd like everyone to be able to see each other's calendars that are on the iCal server.  Is there a way to have everyone in the same group be able to read each others calendar without having to manually add everyone as a delegate?  Thanks in advance.

You'd have to devise a script to do this.
Server-side delegation is handled via calendarserver_manage_principals
On the server (or logged in via ssh):
    man calendarserver_manage_principals
    for more info.
