I can't bootcamp my macbook to install wnidows!

I’m using Yosemite OS and trying to bootcamp windows 7 on my macbook pro, when I restart my mac with alt, and choose the usb to install widows, I don’t have the option to choose bootcamp from installation windows, also I tried to using partition option in Disk Utility, but I could’t, because + option is not activated. so how can I fix this problem?

Apple's explanation: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106227
A kernel panic is a type of error that occurs when the core (kernel) of an operating system receives an instruction in an unexpected format, or that it fails to handle properly. A kernel panic may also follow when the operating system is not able to recover from a different type of error. A kernel panic can be caused by damaged or incompatible software or, more rarely, damaged or incompatible hardware.
So they don't really give too much information on this subject.
Here's another (much better) link explaining kernel panics:

I don't think you can actually download the install DVD. If you call Apple they can send you the install DVD for a nominal fee +S&H. You will need to provide them with the serial number for your Mac to see if it's registered to you.

  • Can I bootcamp snow leopard after installing Lion

So I got a macbook pro 13 inch. in July (it came with Snowleopard) so I bought lion and installed it. My question is whether I can use the snowleopard disk that came with my mac and make a bootcamp with it. Because I downloaded a few games that are not compatible with lion (powerpc) so I was wondering whether that disk that came with my mac was a recovery disk or if i can use it and make a bootcamp without losing everything

While the subject is open, please verify/deny ...
BootCamp requires a 1-partition internal disk to make the partition.  If one creates a second partition for SL, then BootCamp for Windows will not work.
I would like to know for myself at least.

  • Can I set my macbook to install updates at a specific time? My internet is limited through the day but between 2am and 7am it is unlimited?

My internet is limited through the day and I want to know if I can set a specific time for updates to be carried out to make sure my macbook is working efficiently.

Yes. When you get a notification that an update is available, select "Try Tonight". That will constrain the update to occur between 2:00 and 5:00 AM.

  • I can't use my MacBook after installing snow leopard

I have just installed snow leopard. I have been using it briefly but after re booting I cannot get beyond the log in. It shows the desktop but then sends me back to log in again. I have booked into the genius bar but that is in on Friday afternoon. Any suggestions as have 5 days to try and resolve it .
    Thanks in anticipation.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • Can my early 2008 Macbook running OS X 10.6.8 and Bootcamp 3.0.4 run Windows 8?

I need to use Windows for my business but I have an older Macbook (early 2008) with Snow Leopard and Bootcamp 3.0.4. I purchased a copy of Windows 8 today and the Best Buy salesman assured me that it would work  on my computer. However, I cannot seem to figure it out and I'm getting a lot of conflicting information. If Windows 8 will not work on my computer, can someone tell me the latest version that I can run on my computer? Thanks!

These are the Windows Support Software for your MacBook according to Apple.
    You can download them here:

As I already had Windows 7 x32  installed on my MacBook and just upgraded to Windows 8 x32 it is difficult to say whether you can directly install Windows 8 x32 or have to do the upgrade Windows 7 x32 route.
I would read this thread that applies to the installation of Windows 8 on non supported Macs.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4897066
This is for getting Windows 8 x64 installed but it may work for Win 8 x32 using the switching of the CD's from Windows 7 to Windows 8.
I initially used my Windows BootCamp 3.0 drivers on the my Snow Leopard disc after using BootCamp 3.0 to install Windows 7 x32 so I would try using those 3.0 Windows drivers first and then upgrading to the Bootcamp 4.0.4033 drivers after you have booted into Windows 8.
Also you might want to read this thread as well...

    Hi bodegakc,
If you have the serial number then please use the below mentioned link to download the product you are looking for .
    CS5.5
Also before installing Please go to Applications-->Utilities--> Adobe installers and if there is any uninstaller for CS5.5 , you can remove it and do a fresh install.
You can also use creative cloud cleaner tool before installing.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

How do I partition my MacBook Pro so I can keep Snow Leopard and also install Mountain Lion?
I want to install the latest OS, but I already know that I will lose a lot of my software unless I can partition the hard drive and have two "bootable" drives.
How do I retain everything I have, partition the drive, then reloa the software I own according to which OS it will work under?

I do not currently own OS X ML.
I am currently running OS X (10.6.8 Snow Leopard) on my MacBook Pro. It has a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. I want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but many of my software titles will not operate with ML and I cannot afford to replace some of them (Adobe Creative Suite, for e.g.)
After I back-up my HD and then partition the HD, how do I use the back-up to reinstall what I want to the SL partition, and then place the rest on the ML partition.
I have not done what you want to do, so can only offer some general thoughts in support. Take value from the following where you can. No guarantees.
If it was me, I would use a disk clone utility (e.g. Carbon Copy Cloner) to image the existing Snow Leopard disk to an external drive. Then verify that the external drive would boot and run Snow Leopard normally.
I would then purchase and download the Mountain Lion upgrade installer, but not run it. Use Lion Diskmaker to make a bootable USB stick, and perform a clean install of Mountain Lion, replacing the Snow Leopard on your MBP. This way, you make absolutely certain that no third-party drivers or other SL cruft remains to make Mountain Lion unstable. Update to latest ML point release. Fix permissions. Let TimeMachine make a full backup of your ML installation to a different external drive. Then turn of Time Machine.
In Disk Utility, use the + sign at the bottom of the ML partition to add another GUID, HFS+ Journaled partition for Snow Leopard. Resize to taste. Name it differently from your ML partition. Exhale.
Now ideally, you would like to reverse the external clone and put it back into the new SL partition. Then fix permissions. And demonstrate that you can boot into individually stable OS X installations. This would save you alot of work. Resist copying your home directory into ML just yet.
If you cannot successfully achieve the preceding paragraph, you will be faced with a full SL and application reinstall.
The ~/Library contents for SL and ML are sufficiently different that you do not want to mix them. You may want to salvage Safari bookmarks.plist. And, ML created folders in the home directory may have different permissions or ACL settings than in SL. So, my rule of thumb would be to copy folders that you created in SL, and only the contents of matching named OS created folders such as Music, Pictures, Downloads, etc.
For each operating system, you probably want the Time Machine settings to exclude the opposite OS X partition. If you use the same host name in Sharing prefs, then you will mix SL and ML backups on the same Time Machine back up drive. If you use different host names, they will be distinct folders in the Time Machine backups.backupdb and allow discrete restores per host. You may also want to gag Spotlight from indexing the opposite OS X partition.

My MacBook Air lost mac os x. So I would like to reinstall mac os. But I can't select the disk to install mac os x. Only Recovery HD is shown and I can't select it. How can I reinstall my Mac os x? Thank you!

you can download the mac os x recovery hd and run the setup to a flash drive using another mac computer running os x 10.7,(so that while installation the os x setup can varify your computer's serial no. and provide you the installation setup through internet)
or the time machine backup(if you have)
Now boot through the flash drive and follow the steps to install mac os x

To fix your issue is too complicated and lengthy to go into all of it here, it will require the services of person very familiar and experienced with Mac's to first recover your data and then restore OS X back to a functional state, then hopefully achieve the goals you were attempting.
I advise you hire the services of a local Mac computer support technician experienced in these matters.
Have them look at your Wifi and computer backup proceedures in the process.
    Good Luck.

Yes you can install it on your new Macintosh.  If it does not have an optical drive then you can copy the contents of the installation media to a USB drive and then install the software from there.

  • HT5639 Can I use Boot Camp to install Linux on my MacBook Pro?

Can I use Boot Camp to install Linux on my MacBook Pro?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Boot Camp wasn't designed to install Linux. Apart from that, the Boot Camp version included in OS X Mountain Lion will ask you to insert a Windows 7 or Windows 8 DVD in order to run Boot Camp, as far as I know.
Apple doesn't support Linux on Macs, but it works properly on Macs. There are a lot of how-to's in the Internet about the steps to install Linux and the different possibilities you have. Also, what distribution do you want to install on the computer? You should also consider the option to install Linux on a virtual machine
