I can't burn a second CD

Please Help Me! I have had my iPod nano for 3 days and have successfully downloaded ONE CD. When I put the second CD in it won't recognize the CD at all. There is no option to listen to or import the CD. I'm now trying to load it into windows media player and import to iTunes. Any suggestions?

I need more information about your hardware configuration. If you haven't already, go get iTunes 6.0 and install it. Run the iTunes Help menu -> Run CD Diagnostics... command and post the results here.

Fixed. /Users/x/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/AirKeysInputManager.bundle got corrupted by a badly installed safari extension. Deleting this, then reinstalling adobe air did the trick. I wasn't thorough enough on my first try, it was tricky to find everything associated. I had to look for files in the console log then search for them. Spotlight was missing some deep files, EasyFind worked better for me.

  • Help! i upgraded my itunes to 7.0.2 and I can't burn my mp3's?????

I am having the same problem like many other posts as to burning mp3's on the latest version of itunes.
my itunes was working fine till i downloaded the latest version and i tried to burn some songs that i even downloaded from itunes. i am having 2 major problems:
    (1) when i try to burn a playlist that i purchased from itunes it starts off like it's going to intitalize the burn then a warning pops up stating that 'none of the files can be burned to mp3 cd' then i click on the arrow to see the reason why i can't burn and it states 'itunes store files cannot be burned to an mp3 cd'. this has never happened before i have downloaded music from itunes before and never had this problem.
(2)the second problem i am having is the songs that my itunes will allow me to burn ( mostly transfered from my personal cd's and other downloads) burn in the usual manner but the don't play on my cd player....at all. i am using the correct cd's and my stereo is playing other burned cd's fine. the stereo is not old and i don't have any problem burning other files to cd. i tried everything...i even bought new blank cd's and i'm still having the problem. what is it? and how can i fix it.
please help if anyone has any advice!!!!

No version of iTunes has ever allowed you to burn songs from the iTunes Store to MP3 CD.
I think you need to change your burning setting in Preferences > Advanced > Burning to Audio CD.

  • How can I burn more than 1 movie to a DVD when there is room on the disc for it. Premiere wants to overwrite once 1 movie is burned to the disc

How can I burn more than 1 movie onto a DVD? Once 1 movie is burned successfully to the disc, I try to burn another movie and Premiere wants to overwrite the first movie. One movie is 1.2 GB, second is 2.3; so there is room on a 4.7 GB DVD-RW.

What you report is what it is.
Each burn to of Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc results in the disc containing one OpenDVD Folder and one VIDEO_TS Folder.
Only one VIDEO_TS Folder can be put on a DVD-VIDEO disc even when Premiere Elements is not involved. I have seen that written about online, and I have
never found a way to overcome what seems to be basic behavior description of DVD-VIDEO..
Premiere Elements will allow you to write to a disc with content already on it, but only after you give the OK for erasing the disc content before going ahead
    with the burn to.
If you have several movies, one possibility is to build a Timeline with the movies, use stop markers, and setup disc menus according so that the viewer
can selectively watch the movies. More on that later if wanted.
Any questions or need clarification, please ask.
    Thank you.

    Hello deneye2112,
Thank you for providing the details of the burning issue you are experiencing.  I found some resources that I think might help:
First, I recommend resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac (I wasn't sure if you had a removable battery or a built in battery, so I listed the steps for both):
Resetting the SMC on Mac portables with a battery you can remove
Note: Learn about removing the battery on MacBook and MacBook Pro.
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your ownNote: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • Can't burn CD's - "Interface error 5"

Hello, I haven't used my old firewire LaCie CD burner (LaCie 1394, blue front with the slide out tray) in a while but recently I needed to put some graphics files on a CD. The sw I'm using is Toast 6. No matter what I tyry to do I get the following message: "Interface Error: 5 The connection is not stable"
I tried different CD brands, no effect.
    This is the setup.
Machine Name: Power Mac G4 Cube
    Machine Model: PowerMac5,1
    CPU Type: PowerPC 60? (1.1)
    CPU Speed: 1.3 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 2 MB
    Memory: 1.25 GB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.1.9f1
    System Version: Mac OS X 10.4.2 (8C46)
    Kernel Version: Darwin 8.2.0
Looking for answers I found an (unanswered) message on a macosx.com forum. I'm reposting it because it provides more info about the same problem:
    [quote]
"Burning the disc failed because communication to the disc drive failed. (Error code 0x80020022)" -- Is the error code when I attempt to burn any disc using the Finder or Disk Utility.
"Interface Error: 5 The connection is not stable.
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = Illegal Request
    Sense Code = 0x210x02
    BUFFER UNDERRUN" --
Are the errors when I attempt to use Toast Titanium v6.x and v7.x.
I'm using an iMac G5 running 10.4.2. I have two burners, both of which give me the errors and will no longer burn to CD's or DVD's (cheap or expensive media, I've tried many different types). The burners i have are an internal superdrive that came with the mac (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-825) and an external LaCie Firewire DL drive (_NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG). Both drives started giving this error at the same time and I can't think of anything that I installed that could effect these. I don't have any speed tools installed.
I have tried all that Apple suggests in the articles http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25750.
I've experienced the same errors twice before, though not both drives at the same time. What fixed it the first time was simply upgrading the firmware on the burner. Second time, there were problems on the hard drive that I was burning from (directory issues if i remember) and running a combination of Tech Tool and Disk Utilitity fixed that.
But this time, I'm at my wits end and can't find anything helpful online. I'm hoping to find an answer before I end up trying a complete system reinstall.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem using Toast 7 to burn a Video TS movie I made. I'm using an external Lacie 16X DVD-R DL drive and an iMac G5 2.0, and Mac OS 10.4.3
After several failures with Interface Error 5, I tried copying a DVD movie I made from another DVD. This was created with the same Lacie drive using Mac OS 10.3 and my old iMac FP 15 inch. I got the same failure message.
I then switched my Lacie Drive to the USB port and everything is working fine. I switched it back to FireWire and I get the same error message again.
I can play DVD's on the Lacie with either the USB or FireWire port without any problem, I just can't record using the FireWire port. The FireWire ports on the computer work fine with all my other FireWire devices.
It must be a combination of 10.4.3, Toast 7 and Lacie FireWire. I'm going to recheck Lacie's site to make sure I have all of the updates.

  • Can't burn disc via iTunes. Burn speed too fast. AGAIN!

"iTunes can't burn this CD because the burn speed is too fast for your CD burner or media. Choose a lower speed in the burning pane of iTunes Preferences then try burning again".
I have been having on going problems burning CD’s in iTunes for YEARS, and I know I am not the only one. I get the error message above. Having checked the forum at the time, and posted for help, I am know there is no real solution except to change brand of disc.
Thing is, now I can’t get ANY brands to work. I’ve been through Verbatim, Maxell, JVC, Sony, but none work. The only brand that would work were TDK audios which I can no longer find anywhere.
I know its not the burner, as Toast works fine, and I know I am not alone. Anyone got any ideas?
Even after years Apple seem to be blanking this question. It’s very frustrating not being able to burn my purchased itunes downloads to disc.

To anyone who is interested I think I may have found a possible solution. When you put a blank disc in the drive, wait about 30-60 seconds or so for it to stop spinning before burning.
This seems to work. It's a bit sticky but eventually works. I tried both TDK & Maxwell discs and 9 out of 11 worked. Absolutely no reason why the other 2 didn't, but it's a lot better than none.

  • Is it impossible to burn a second copy of a DVD after you have burned the first from iDVD? i am using OS 10.6.8 and iDVD version 7.1.2. the DVD is inserted, then iDVD ejects it, but keeps running as though it is working but it's not.

    any help is much appreciated.

thanks guys; but the problem is that iDVD does not want to burn a disk now from the original movie-project. i see the movie project on teh desktop and can launch it just fine - even play it through the iDVD application - but when i click burn, it asks for a disk (I insert a memorex DVD+RDL 8.5Gb 240 minute dual layer) and it ejects it a few seconds later. the IDVD progress bar still runs as though it is burning just fine - its progress drops from 18 minutes all the way to "less than a minute" and then it hangs. even if i insert a different memorex disk, it still doesn't start actually burning it. it only burned the very first memorex disk i inserted successfully. i have tried disk utility to burn from a .dmg file copy of the original successfully burned disk, but disk utility can't burn onto the memorex disk either. maybe something wrong with the super drive? thanks for your ideas.

  • New problem. I can not burn a playlist to disk.

New problem. I can not burn a playlist to disk. The 'checking playlist' now takes about one second, looks very much like a malfunction here. Seems to initialize the disk - them moves straight into 'burning/finalizing disk' which also takes about one second. Then 'burning - finishing disk takes a little longer -
Error reading is "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disk drive didn't respond properly an can't recover.'
This happend once before a while back and I thought it was 'too skinny disks'. Using 'printable disks; seemed to fix the problem - until now.
Blank cd's can  be opened in the finder and files burnt to them.
DVD's can be burned from DVD Pro.
Music cd's and dvd's can be played.
Just can't burn the itunes playlist.

From your iMac? OS 10.9.2? iTunes? Other? please give as much info as you can about your system hardware and peripherals, OS, software, etc. Is this misbehavior new? First try? You get the idea, too much info is not possible.

Converting does not mean losing the original files.
iTunes creates copies of the files in the chosen format.
You can easily distinct them by looking at the 'Kind' column or by sorting on 'Date Added'. The converted files will have the most recent 'Date Added'.
Then put them in a playlist, choose 'MP3 CD' in the Burning preferences and burn them to CD-R.
If you don't like a long list of songs, read iTunes: How to set the play order of songs on an MP3 CD how to burn by artist or album.
If all went well, you can delete the mp3's from your library.
If you would like to keep them, but not in your current library, drag them from the library to a folder on your desktop and then delete them. Dragging to a folder will create copies of the mp3's.
If you're using iTunes 7, you could then create a second library and drop the folder with mp3's in that one.
Creating a second (third etc....) library is done by pressing and holding the Option-key when launching iTunes. Hold the key until you see a window which enables you to create or choose another iTunes library.

  • Can't burn multiple projects to DVD

I imported photos into iPhoto, then separated the photos into three different albums, each with a different name. I then worked on each individual album of photos in iDVD, creating slideshows, giving each slideshow a different Theme and audio (songs) from iTunes. Everything is working fine so far.
I then burned the first slideshow onto a DVD. When I attempted to burn the second slideshow onto the same DVD, it would not work.
I then saved each slideshow as a disk image and attempted to burn them with the disk utility. Again, I can burn the first slideshow but not the second and third to the same DVD.
I then attempted to drag the three .img files onto the icon of the DVD and it seemed to be working, however, I eventually got an error message. At this point I opened the .img files and dragged the Audio_TS and Video_TS files (from all three projects) onto the DVD icon. It appeared to burn to the DVD, but when I placed the DVD into my DVD player, only the first project burned.
I am gathering from other posts on this site that it is possible to burn multiple slideshows with audio onto a DVD but I certainly haven't figured out how to do it.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can burn multiple slideshows with audio, originating from iDVD, onto one DVD. Any help would be most appreciated.

Excellent progress -- you wondered about multiple themes, and although I haven't done that recently, you are be able to create a submenu with the Folder icon; once you're on the submenu, just set a new theme and it should just change the menu you're working on.
from iPhoto via QuickTime to iDVD, this process does not allow adding captions to the photos in iDVd...is my assumption correct.
-- Correct, you'll have to add captions in iPhoto (has a basic titling feature), in Quicktime Pro, or use the extensive text features in software like Photoshop/Elements (add it to a copy of the photo and then reimport to iPhoto). It's a bit of work, but you can create a nice effect of the title fading out with this latter option (if you want your slide to have a five sec duration, use the titled photo for 3 sec then the original slide for 2 seconds -- then use the cross-dissolve transition).
Deleting iPhoto pictures will not affect the QT movie if you've made it self-contained (typical setting), and iDVD will be unaffected as well.
I'm not aware of any restriction on iPhoto transitions that would require a new video card -- the rendering will take longer on slower processors -- what are your symptoms (perhaps post it separately for others to weigh in?)?.

  • I can't burn music, or get pass checking media

Sadly I've tried everything I know to get iTunes to burn a CD. I get the
playlist all set up, adjust the preferences, click on burn, then it opens
the CD tray, I put a blank CD-R in, then iTunes says it’s ‘Checking Media’
which it does for a few seconds, then it just stops - no error message or
anything. The little window that says ‘checking media’ just goes back to the
apple symbol and nothing happens. Any others ideas as to what i should do.
I'm just hoping that i'm not the only one with this issue. Thanks

What are you trying to achieve?  Are you trying to burn to disk via the iPhoto Share ➙ Burn menu? That produces a mini library on the disk that can be used only by a Mac running iPhoto.
If you want to burn just some image files to a data CD/DVD disk then follow Larry's recommended workflow.
What disk type and manufacturer are your using? What system and iPhoto version are you running?  Have you run the OS X Mountain Lion: Use Apple Hardware Test? When did the burning proiblem begin?  If you can't burn a disk from the Finder then it's a hardware or system problem and not an iPhoto one.

  • Are Apple Mad!!! They sell DVD writers but you can't burn DVD's on them

You buy yourself an imac they sell you a dvd burner you do an imovie presentation for your daughters christmas present about a trip to Harry Potter Studio Tour, to you find apple in its wisdom no longer produces iDVD software they even still have a DVD player program on system it just makes no scense!!!
Can anyone let me know what program i should get or can i get apple to send me idvd i really think apple needs to sort this!!!! Think we all need to complain to apple!!!

    Hi
well - Your frustration is 100% understood - and what's up is that
    • Without iDVD one can not do - Video-DVDs
    But still burn
    • Audio/Data - CDs
    • Data-DVDs
and if there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it), You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.¨
Some people succeded in getting a iLife (boxed version incl DVD) by tretting to return the Mac ( within the 15 days ? ) and by telling a senior sales man this. Not relevan in Sweden I think - but one idea.
This is a Major flaw and a great bit of BAD WILL - BAD PR.

  • Can't burn CDs - can't find driver updates

    Aaargh! It's happened again!!!
When I put a CD in, the CD is recognized as blank but when I try to burn the playlist, Itunes hesitates for about 30 seconds and then ejects the CD with no error message.
This happened about three months ago and I spent two days looking for driver updates and mindlessly uninstalling applications and it began working again. I get to install blank CD>>> incert the CD and nothing happens. No error message. I don't even know what to look for or where to begin. This just started happinging when I updated with the lastest version of iTunes.
