See mckeot answer as to how he/she resolved the 4450 error at the bottom of the following link. I think it may help.

I start a burn from a non-purchased playlist. It starts and then cancels, giving me an unknown error 4261. Uninstalled/re-installed to no avail. Tried WMP...same thing. Device is working properly...plays, imports.

    Harry,
If you are getting the same problem with both iTunes and WMP, chances are that the issue is in your optical drive.

Windows Media Player doesn't support the MP4 (AAC) format that your iTunes files use. See the Media Player support page for more info: http://support.microsoft.com/KB/316992#XSLTH3296121121120121120120 Burn your iTunes protected files to an audio CD in iTunes and re-rip them as MP3.

  • I can't save CD-Text that reads with Windows Media Player

I'm trying to burn discs that will play on Windows Media Player showing title, artist, album name, etc., AND play in a stand alone home CD player.
It seems like I've tried almost everything and nothing's working.
I've saved my files as Windows PCM .wav, ACM .wav, WMA, MP3, and OGG and I can't get anything to work. I've burned them with RIFF tags AND MP3(ID3) tags. I've used up dozens of discs and I'm getting nowhere.
I even burned up more discs trying to burn wav, wma, and mp3 files with Record Now software.
I don't know what else I can do. Am I asking too much?
    Thanks!

"nowhere have you mentioned whether you have checked to see that the CD-writer in your PC supports CD-text writing - not all of them do, and you should check this specifically."
That's an astute observation. I honestly don't know if it does, and I'll have to check with Lenovo to find out. Thank you for reminding me.
"If you want a couple of name-brand players that will read CD-text, then RealPlayer (from version 10) and Winamp (from version 5.31) will. If you want trusted ones, then I'd say just Winamp..."
I agree with you on Winamp being the better of the two...but, I was hoping for something like iTunes or QuickTime - I'd prefer something that is already loaded on most people's computers. Do you know which players are more likely to already be on most?
"http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/howto/albuminfo_how_to.aspx tells you how to get your album info into the Microsoft database."
Peter, I'm thinking that link shows someone how to add info to
their player, but it doesn't allow me to set the data for everyone who plays my CD. It's a
very informative link though. Thank you!
"There is nothing that Adobe can do to change that system."
They don't have to change that system; why can't they work with it? WMP
has the ability to display CD-Text so why can't the two of them get together and work this out? I don't see it happening any other way. I mean, if Adobe doesn't do it, we're pretty much sunk.
Thanks fellas, I've appreciated your comments and your help.

  • Can't burn a cd in itunes with windows 8

When I try to burn a cd in itunes with Windows 8, I get unknown error 4310.  I am able to burn music and text files with
windows  but not itunes. I believe there may be registry errors and compatiblity issues with Windows 8 and Itunes.
Other errors I received when I tried to fix the problem are disk burner and software missing and disk recording missing.
I have consulted with Dell and ATT ConnectTech and no one seems to be able to solve the problem.  I have uninstalled
itunes and reinstalled itunes several times but still cannot burn cd with Itunes with windows 8...Anyone who has
faced this problem and solved it I would love to hear from you

I don't have much help, but yes, I did burn a CD in iTunes 8. Had some problems--different from yours--and got help from my Apple Care...although they wanted me to write an e-mail to the Apple Store for help (I insisted that Apple Care should cover it and I wanted to talk with someone. Eventually, I got someone in the US). I also turned off the Genius. Don't know if that helped or not.

  • ITunes and Windows Media Player

I just installed iTunes 8 on my PC with Vista and now I can't even open Windows Media Player. I did not change the default to iTunes and expected to still be able to use the Windows player. Any ideas for a fix?

OK, found a solution elsewhere on the net.
I searched for ages on Google and on Apple's site and could not find the solution. Combining what was said in this link http://johnhaller.com/jh/usefulstuff/itunes_arist_in_titleissue.asp with another user's mention of absolute paths in M3U playlists was the solution.
First, load your M3U playlist into Excel as a text file. Use Excel's auto filter function to remove any rows that reference the track # or title - they all start with the pound sign. This leaves behind just the path to the actual file and the filename itself. Then, edit the paths so that they're the full absolute path to the file. In my case, the paths were missing the "C:\" designator. Once I did that, I created a new empty playlist with the name that I wanted, and I dragged the modified M3U playlist onto it. Voila! iTunes added the playlist without adding new files to the library. It's a miracle!

  • How do I download iTunes to Windows Media Player

How do I dowload iTunes to Windows Media Player

You don't as far as I know. Windows Media Player is the proprietary player for windows devices, iTunes is the proprietary player for stuff purchased from iTunes.
The only way you can get files to freely transfer between the two programs is if they are not purchased from either service, but are ripped from a CD you own. Downloaded files have DRM (digital rights management) embedded in them that often restricts what you can/can't do.

  • Syncing itunes to windows media player

I just bought some songs from the Itunes store, however I don't have an Apple anything, can my songs sync to my windows media player,to then sync to my MP3 Player?

Almost certainly these tracks will be standard AAC format with the file extension .m4a and not be protected by DRM. Therefore they will be usable by Windows Media Player when the right steps are followed.
Firstly Windows Media Player 12 as included with Windows7 will itself support AAC tracks and can even read the meta-tags from them including embedded cover art. For Windows Vista I don't know if WMP12 is available and whether it also under Vista support AAC, but I can say that it is possible to use WMP11 under Vista to play AAC files. See the AAC section on this page for information written by myself, http://thewelltemperedcomputer.com/SW/WMP/FileFormat.htm
Unfortunately even though it is possible to get WMP12 under Windows7 to also play Apple Lossless, Microsoft have as usual cocked up and even though Apple Lossless also uses the same MPEG4 file format, the same file extension and the same tagging format, it will not treat them as music (it treats them as 'other' media). It was possible do also add Apple Lossless properly with early versions of WMP i.e. 9, 10 and 11, as per my instructions on the above webpage.

macfriedchikkin's reply would make sense to you if you were trying to open a camera, but if you are trying to view streming media from a web site that is a different story. It helps to be very specific about what you are tyring to do on these forums.
I belive you would go into Firefox Preferences menu and tell it  to use VLC as the application to play WMV files. I'm still running Tiger,  however, so I can't tell you if it the latest version works wel that way. The Tiger version doesn't seem to, but a lot may have changed since then. (I'm only just getting around to installing Leopard next week now that there are too may apps I can't run on Tiger. ) Perhaps someone else on this forum can better help you set  up the player in your browser.
Or you can cut out the middleman and give VLC the direct video URL:
Choose Open File from the File menu and paste in the URL of the video, say,
    http://azul.streamguys.com/auduboncal-1
    or http://azul.streamguys.com/auduboncal-2
Your media should play this way. Dont forget to save the playlist for later.
I'l keep investigating on my end, and yes, I'm also  encouraging certain people who are streaming windows media in to switching to a different format

  • CD's not playing in iTunes (or Windows Media Player)

Hey everyone. I recently put together a new PC, and installed the latest iTunes. I managed to transfer all of my music across from my laptop using iTunes' DVD backup method. So everything plays fine so far. But when I put new CD's into my drive to copy to iTunes, things start getting weird.
It will show up in iTunes as the correct CD, with track names, artist etc. But if you try to play the first track it will play the first half of it, then just skip to the next, then the next, then the next without playing any of them. The same thing happens once it has been imported, and more interestingly, the same thing happens in Windows Media Player (which makes me think it's not an iTunes issue. In iTunes it will claim that each of the tracks have been played (when they haven't) and also each track length is given by a ridiculous number like 789:57:13.
All of these CD's are brand new, and play perfectly in my Hi-Fi system. Any help would be appreciated, as I have no idea what the **** is going on.

You might have more luck asking on a general Windows troubleshooting site, but my guess would be an invalid or old audio or CD driver (or firmware in the drive). You might try checking those to make sure you have the correct and most current drivers.

  • Can't open .bin file (trying to install windows media player)

I'm trying to install windows media player on my brand new macbook pro. I downloaded the .bin file and have installed Stuffit Expander. When i try to open the .bin file, stuffit opens to the progress window and tells me that its preparing but nothing happens. it just freezes on me. i've openeother .bin files with no problem. How can I open this .bin file?
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I hope you are aware that the Windows Media Player plug-in will not work with Safari because it's not a universal binary. Furthermore, WMP is no longer supported by Microsoft for the Mac. Instead you should download and install Flip4Mac (www.versiontracker.com or www.macupdate.com.)
Although the WMP plug-in for Safari will not work on an Intel Mac, the player will work fine through the Rosetta emulator. If you are insistent upon using WMP with Safari, then after you install WMP and the plug-in, select Safari's application icon, press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Check the option "Open using Rosetta." This will force Safari to run as a PPC app.
If Stuffit Expander will not open the .bin archive then check to be sure you are using the current version of it. If you continue having problems then try using TheUnarchiver instead (www.versiontracker.com or www.macupdate.com.) It's also possible you have a defective download.

  • I can burn CDs from Windows Media Player, but not from itunes.  I always get Error 2131.  How do I transfer music files from itunes to Window Media Player Library?...or convince itunes to burn a CD?

    Cannot burn CD from itunes.

The thing is, they are in the unprotected format? (
They are protected WMA from when you RIP'd them with WMP. iTunes will not read them.
Go to WMP Tools -> Rip Music.
Under Rip settings, it is set to *Windows Media Audio* and most likely *Copy protect music* is ticked. This is how it is protected.
You will need to reRIP them all from CD.

  • Can't Burn CD's with iTunes in Windows Vista x64

Last night I attempted to create an MP3 CD as well as an Audio CD but every time I tried to iTunes popped up a messaging saying that I didn't have a disc or burning software to complete that action.
