I can't burn cds and it just spits the cds out?

I've tried burning playlists with itunes. I have the latest itunes update, so that's not the problem. I have a macbook that is from 2007. Here's what happens:
I choose a playlist, file, burn playlist to disc, it asks me to insert a blank disc, i put it in, it doesn't sense it, and then my computer makes weird noises before spitting out the cd with no explanation. Sometimes it appears to be burning ( the turning wheel shows up on the playlist name on the left side bar) but the cd isn't even in anymore. Please help!

On top LH of screen, select Apple menu> About this mac > More Info > System Report.
You will see a heading called Disk Burning, and in thw window opposite a status. What does it say?
At this stage you can insert a blank disk and it will report burn speeds available, and if not, report the fault.

If you want an audio CD, just put all files into a playlist and click *Burn CD* then select Audio CD. iTunes will convert them to CD audio.
Selecting Data CD/DVD in iTunes will burn the files as they are. They can be MP3, AAC, AIFF or whatever and will be burned in that format (useful for backing up files)
If you select MP3 CD (this is the format of the files on the CD), the files must already be in MP3 format.
This is the same as a Data CD/DVD except iTunes will use only MP3 files (because many players can play MP3 files).

my itunes has started acting up and no longer burns cds. the program will let me create a playlist, but when i insert a blank cd it just spits it back out and reads "insert blank cd" even though that is what i've used- and i've tried using various types of cds and it does that with all of them. itunes, as well as my mac hardrive, has also stopped recognizing audio cds with content on it, which makes me think it might be a problem with the cd drive hardware. any suggestions on what to do?

Yeah, it really sounds like a hardware issue. You can try creating a new user on your machine and seeing if the problem exists there as well. If it doesn't, there is something corrupt in your main user. If it does, it's a system-wide issue (likely hardware, not software related).

I've never had this problem before. I went to burn a playlist in itunes and when it asked to insert a blank cd, I did and it sounded like it was going to work, only to have it just spit it out without even an error code.
A couple times a bit ago I was getting that stupid 0x8002006D error code, so I just assumed maybe I had so bad cd-r's, so I bought new one's and still didn't work.
Now nothing is happening, it just makes that startup sound about 3 times before it spits the cd out without even acknowledging that one was ever inserted! I've even just tried inserting a cd without itunes up to see if it'll prompt me onscreen abot what I want to do, but no, nothing! It pops back out.
It's soo frustrating! What can I do?!

Ok gents, Now hear my story with the Legandary Optical Drive, Few weeks ago my logic board failed as my MBP is End of 2007 made ( As these models made that time known for the logic board high failure rate ), Any way, Went to the apple storehere in Thailand and they told it would take about 10 days to 2 weks to fix, Ok no problems go ahead but i stated in their check form that PLEASE CHECK MY OPTICAL DRIVE AS IT'S ACTING FUNNY!!, It spits out the DVD or don't even read any CDs, 10 days later they called me PLEASE COME TO GET YOUR MACHINE, IT'S READY ( BTW i forgot to tell you gents that this apple store is 990 KM away from where i live ), So booked a domestic flight ticket to Bangkok and went to the apple store and tried it and everything was ok EXCEPT.... guess what? My superdrive scratched 4 brand new DVDs just infront of them while their final report which i have a copy of it says that the superdrive was checked and running fine!! Ok guys whats going on? They apologized with blooded faces and took the superdrive out and told me it would take another 10 days to bring a new one from Singapore ! Ok no issues go ahead and order a new one for me please, After 3 weeks they called me ( last week ) that the apple tech guy is coming down to where i live along with a brand new DVD drive ( It was not new BTW, It was a repaired one fixed in singapore but they told me it's a brand new one, It was full of scratches and smells like it's been used, I assume every one knows how a brand new electronic device smells and looks like), He came in and installed it and another surprise !! This one even did not take any CD or DVD at all, The moment i push the disk in, Few seconds and it spits it out again!!, This time i was really out of my mind, i told the guy what is going on now, He replied that he need to take my MBP along with him and give it another look and fix, I told Him NO NO NO!! Can't Burn CDs (emachines T3830) - used to be able to

All of a sudden, I can't burn CDs. I was able to up until recently. I installed the Acura TTS software to allow me use my IPOD in a new car and was wondering if anyone knew if this interfered with the burn function. Orif the CD diagnostics indicate some other problem?

Using iTunes to burn CDs has become increasingly impossible; I keep getting Error 4310 messages. I've used a CD-ROM cleaner disc to check there's no prob with the laser, but that's made no difference.

I can't burn CDs in iTunes. I get "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4261). I have tried to reduce the speed - didn't work. I have never had a problem before - but after I downloaded the new version of iTunes, I can't burn. I know the burner works because I can burn using NERO. Please help!

I'm assuming you have already resolved the issue, but if you have not, I would recommend that you uninstall iTunes completely and remove anything related to Apple on your computer including Quicktime. Device filter Problems, can't burn cds in iTunes, Blank CDs appear to have

Problem was first noticed because I can't burn CDs in iTunes.
The problem is that all blank CDs show that they have no space on them available. If I look at the properties of a blank CD, they show 0 bytes used, 0 bytes free and 0 bytes available.
By removing the upperfilters and lowerfilters in the registry, (accoring to the Microsoft prescribed method for this problem found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060) the problem is solved for my whole sytem except for iTunes. iTunes then tells me that "the registry settings used by iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. ... Please reinstall iTunes."
I reinstall or repair iTunes and then iTunes opens fine but I can't burn with iTunes or any other program since I am back to all blank CDs showing there is no space available.
The iTunes toubleshooting Fac found at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302976 has been tried also and does not change the problem of blank CDs having no space available.

Failed loading CD / DVD drives, error -43. Try doing a repair install on iTunes from the "Add or Remove Programs" control panel.

I have a satellite u400-20v. There was no problem at first to read or burn a CD or DVD but after I setup windows 7 ultimate. my cd rom now can read both CDs and DVDs and can burn DVDs but can't burn CDs (data or audio). The burner gives me an error msg as soon as it begins writing the cd. My optical drive is called Mat**bleep**a DVD-RAM UJ862AS ATA device (at the device manger).

iTunes can be a bit flaky on 64 bit Vista since it's not supported but it has been known to work.
Try updating your CD/DVD drivers here -> http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm
Also, make sure the your other firmware & drivers are up to date.

I think I fixed it...I went under My Computer, then right clicked on the cd drive that I used to burn, go to properties, went under the auto play tab, selected the action to perform button for each individual category(dvd, blank cd, music cd) selected the no action icon for each category. Then went to the recording tab and unselected the enable recording selection. Now I can burn every time! If this fixes it for anyone else let me know!

Unless your iMac is still covered by AppleCare, get an external DVD burner.
You can get perfectly good ones from Amazon for less than $40.

Make sure the format when you burn your playlist is one your car's CD player will recognize. Typically mp3 songs are readable now but when in doubt, burn an audio cd. Yes, you will get less songs per cd (as compared to mp3 formatted one) but you are guaranteed the cd will work in any place. Most cars have it written on the radio somewhere what formats it can read for CDs.. Good luck!

Questions:
1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal. Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once? If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups. They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
