Just updated to itunes 12.1.0.71 - big problem - can no longer access the legacy "Get Info" where you could change multiple files, easily add artwork, add album name for TV show, and much more. In previous iTunes 12 you'd right click and hold shift key and be able to get to it. Anyone figured this out?

The "legacy" metadata editors, for which there was a "back door" in iTunes 12.0, have gone from 12.1. However, the revised editors in 12.1 provide access to (almost) all the metadata elements that were available in iTunes 11, albeit in a different layout and with some additional constraints based on media kind. Some users have / will have an issue with the statement that "Get Info has been completely redesigned in iTunes 12 to focus your attention only on what’s necessary for the selected item" since that removes some metadata elements that people may have been using in creative ways. iTunes 12.1 basically gives you access to the fields that Apple think are necessary ... . Some of the things that have been excluded by this rule:
track and disc number fields for video media kinds
show and episode fields for music
description tab for audiobooks made up of more than one file
Obviously the first two examples can be regarded as "overloading" the metadata elements - i.e., using them in ways that the designers didn't intend - but given that some users do find valid cases for this it's a shame that they've been deprecated in the new UI. There are couple of workarounds:
in songs view (or any of the other columnar views), you can still select any fields to display, independent of media kind, and these can be edited (though only one at a time) by double-clicking in the relevant "cell"
you can (temporarily) change the media kind of an item (or group of items) to get access to metadata elements that would otherwise be inaccessible.
It may be worth submitting an issue via https://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html - I can't see it as a huge development task to have a user preference to switch between "show all fields" and "filter fields based on media kind".
One other oddity/irritation is that some of the tabs don't, by default, show all the available fields - you need to scroll up/down to access them or to expand the window by dragging on one of its corners. Fortunately, the latter seems to be persistent - once you've done this to make all the fields visible the editor will open at the same (larger) size when opened again.

I have Acrobat Pro 10.1.13 and Adobe Reader 10.1.13.
If I use the Finder to get all PDFS to open with Reader instead of Pro, they do. And vice versa, using the Change All.

This situation does sound very frustrating. I know that you have tried some great troubleshooting steps already and the issue remains unresolved. Have you forced the Mail application to close and then opened it back fresh? If not, this is the next troubleshooting step I would suggest. Please let me know if the issue remains unresolved.

I just updated FF to 14.0.1 (Mac 10.6.8) and now netflix won't work. It's asking to restart in 32 bit mode and I changed it in the Get Info to 32 bit. No luck.

Try downloading the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight for Mac [http://microsoft-silverlight-mac.en.softonic.com/mac link text]. I just did this, and was able to play Netflix's streaming again--and without that "restart in 32-bit mode" button even appearing!

Using 'change all' in Get Info

I am trying to use the 'change all' tab on get info to make all similar documents open with the same application.
Whenever I select an application and choose 'select all' it just flips back to the default. In this case, all my word docs are no longer associated with an application (even though they all have a .doc extension) when I open one up, it always opens with Apple Works. If I do the get info path and select Word to open the document and then choose 'select all', it just changes back to Apple Works.
I have tried repairing permissions and also trashed
com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
neither seemed to make a difference.
Can anyone help?

Changing File Names in "Get Info"

Every time I add a few songs to iTunes i shows up as track "and then the number" is there any way in finder to change this permanently? I know that it is blocked under "get info" and then "more info" tab. I know that you can change this in itunes but if u delete your librabry and re-ad the song its gonna show up as a track "and then the number" again.
Anybody know how to do this? and if you need an app what is the app that you need?

Uninstall the corrupted Reader installation using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Can't save images into folders, Get info not detailing either.

I'm new to Macs having just moved over 3 months ago from PC's and I'm having trouble with saving images and getting system information. When I click on Go > Utilities > then click the down arrow next to the small cog icon I can easily see my system information starting with Spotlight Comments, General, More Info, Name and Extension, Preview, Sharing and Permissions (which I've set to Read & Write for MartinForbes (Me), staff and everyone).
However when I try Go > Utilities > Martin's iMac > and click on the same down arrow all I get is General, and Preview - and that is it it even though it worked before.
Another thing is happening as well. When I'm trying to save an image from the internet into a specific folder the 'Save' button get greyed out, but it will only work in the most recent folders where I don't want this file to go. To put it into the folder I want , I have to save it into a folder that I DON'T want, then copy and the locate the intended folder and paste it the folder that I had intended. This also is happening when I save a zip file in the 'Downloads' section and try to create a folder in say, my 'Widgets' folder where I can now no longer click on 'New Folder' as this too has been greyed out. I can see that the format after I've right clicked and selected 'Save Image As' is selected as 'Preview Document* and not 'All Files.
Can someone shed some light on what I need to do to get this working please?

When you save an image, how can the browser possibly intuit where you want to save it?
You need to tell it where to save it. To do this just treat it as any Finder window and navigate to the desired folder. But you need to expand the dialogue to allow you click to the place you want to go as per a Finder window.
Then you can navigate to where you want it to be saved, and that position will become the default for next time until it is changed.
As for changing permission and the like, normally that is not required unless you have a permission problem you are trying to fix. Usually your Mac has that already worked out for you.

Why can't I edit in the Get Info boxes?

I have just recently done a re and re on my laptop and gone to Windows 8. I have transfered over my music to iTunes, but now I can't edit any information in the Get Info boxes as they are all grayed out. Can someone help me with this, please?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":

When you set up icloud and turn on calendar syncing, you get a panel that asks whether to merge the local data on the device or computer with icloud data. You must have responded NO. If the calendars are now gone from your mac, then your only hope is to restore the data from your Time Machine backup.

Finally got elements reinstalled after my computer crashed, shows I have the account but I can't open it all I get is a page trying to sell me and give me tutorials. I just want to use the darn thing. Can someone please help me???

TS4345 Can I use Migration Assistant to get info from a Macbook Pro that has a dead screen?

I have a MacBook Pro 17 that the screen died on. I have a new MacBook Pro coming tomorrow and need to try to find a way to get the info from the old one to the new one. From the online info I saw on Migration Assist you need both screens to work to get a authentification code. Is there any work around? I don't know what system the old one is and have no idea what type of sharing may have been on or off.

AFAIK, you can use the Setup Assistant on first boot w/o any authentication code or sharing stuff. See Pondini's Setup New Mac guide for details.

Can't move regions all at once anymore, why?

I am working on a very large orchestral score and before I was able to move all tracks at once around in the arranger, but now even with all regions in all tracks selected, only the track on which my mouse is, is being moved, Why is this?

Are you trying to move regions to different tracks, or move the tracks themselves. Logic doesn't allow doing the latter (which is pretty ridiculous, hope that gets fixed at some point).
