I can´t charge my i pod shuffle..

hi,
i have earned my shuffle from a competition in july 2005 and i have been using it since them..last week i realised that i couldn´t charge it.. when i connect it to the computer it simple isn´t recognized by the computer, and it doesn´t charge..i´ve already tried it in someone else´s computer and it happens the same thing.. the funny thing is that it plays music.. the problem is that the battery will run off and i won´t be able to listen to it again..
is it the usb connection that maybe is "broken"?

You or Apple can do nothing to prevent use of the devices.
For the iPod touch if you turned on the FindMyiPod feature and wifi is on and connected yu may be ablt ot locate it and wipe it by going to iCloud, signing in and going to FindMyiPhone. However, if the iPOd is rectored that feature is deleted.
Report to police and change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod.

If you have not done so, you may want to restart your computer.
That message (about the song file not found) means iTunes cannot locate the song file where it expects to find it. Are you sure you can still play the song in iTunes (?), because you may get a yellow exclamation point next to the song, meaning the same thing; iTunes did not find the song file where iTunes expected to find it.
The consolidate command would not help if iTunes can't locate the files.
That might mean they were moved or deleted. If you do a Get Info (from right-click) on one of those songs, the Info window should tell you the expected location of the song file, on the Summary tab next to Where. Follow that path (using Windows) to see if the song file is there.

It is quite safe to use the higher powered iPad charger for other devices, as they will only use the amount of power required for charging, eventhough higher power is available. The Apple store shows all devices that can be safely charged with the iPad charger, see the link below.

Can't charge shuffle because I can't properly eject

I understand that the shuffle doesn't charge if the orange light is blinking and that you have to eject from iTunes to get it stop blinking.
When I eject from iTunes, I get the message that it can't be ejected from iTunes because files on the shuffle are being used by another application.
So, I use the "Safely Remove Hardware" function to disconnect the device AND SO I CAN'T CHARGE IT!!! I don't want to completely disconnect from the computer or I can't charge.
Any ideas?

Well, I did get that idea from some of the posters here. But also, the wording is not completely clear on the page that shows what each of the status lights means. It only says that a solid orange light = charging and does not address everything that a blinking orange light means. It just says not to disconnect from the computer.
The Shuffle charges while displaying an orange
status LED, whether steady or blinking. When you
EJECT or UNmount it using safely remove hardware, it
should still charge but display a steady orange.
Ultimately that steady orange WILL turn green to
indicate that it's fully charged.
My lights go off after I use the safely remove hardware function so I can't charge it then. I don't understand why I have to use the function - why other processes are using my shuffle. I have not enabled the disk function on the shuffle.
Do you know why this happens? The only posts I've seen here about this just say how to disconnect and don't explain why it gets tied up with other applications. I'd like it to stop. My windows programs show it to be a mass storage device under USB ports, iPod, then a drive letter F: mass storage device.
I am concerned that I have created a problem because I have my big iPod docked on a separate USB port and the shuffle dock plugged into another, and serve 3 shuffles off that port. I'm off to try and find the posts that talk about permanently eliminating problems of having more than one USB dedicated to an iPod.
Note that IF you leave it to charge while blinking,
you won't know when it's fully charged since the LED
will NOT turn green from blinking orange. 5-6 hours
without interruption should get you close to fully
charged state.

The e-mail that I got notifying me of your response said that I could rate the question as partly answered but I don't see how - I now know that I'm charging but I'd like to eliminate the conflict on the shuffle. There is no way to track a missing or stolen iPod Nano or Shuffle. You can track the iPod Touch if you had previously enabled the FindmyiPhone feature before it was lost. However, this feature also depends on the iPod to be connected to a working Wi-Fi network and not have already been restored by the thief.
Apple can do nothing to help. Sorry.

You could possibly locate the iPod touch and remotely wipe it if you had installed the Find My iPhone app on it, otherwise, and for everything else, no. There are tools that can be instaleld on PCs that will attempt to report in if stolen, but again these need to be set up in advance.

If by "charger," you mean the USB docking cable, you need the original cable (or a compatible third-party replacement cable). A cable that is for the current 4th gen (and 3rd gen) shuffle does not work with a 2nd gen shuffle, because the connector is different.

There are third-party products that work, but make sure it is described as being for the 2nd gen shuffle. And I would avoid the ones that just seem too cheap, because there are likely to be quality issues.

I have just got the new i-tunes but when i connect my i-pod shuffle to it unlike the older version it does not show what tunes i have on the shuffle at least i can,t find them is there something i am missing somewhere

Hi i have just updated to the latest i-tunes (11) but when i connect my i-pod shuffle to it it does not show you what tunes i have on it like the lod version used to.Which is a bit of apain as i cannot remember every tune i have put on it.Is there something i am missing somewhere.Putting tunes on it is no problem but like i say is there somewhere you can see the list.
