I can´t charge my ipodtouch by usb device, whats the problem?

yesterday I want to connect my ipodtouch to de pc and doesn´t work, my PC just sound when it´s connected, but nothing happens, It seems to work fine, but now I can´t charge it, what´s de problem, my Ipod Touch or mi computer?

Hey Godsgrl1, A short and/or debris in the iPod's charging port are the first things that come to mind. Have you tried a different charging device? The thing that supplies the power, not the cable. If issue continues, check the charging port on the iPod for debris, pocket lint can interrupt a solid electrical connection. With a strong light and a magnifying glass look in the port, with the power off. You should see the silver bumps on the short ends, (one on each end), the gold contact pins on one of the long sides and the bottom of the port should appear dark gray or metallic and smooth. If it appears to be a mat finish, could be looking at packed lint. Try blowing it out, If that fails, use a non-conductive probe, I like a round wooden toothpick and carefully remove the debris, usually lint, from the port. Be very careful to NOT TOUCH the gold pins, damage, bent or break then and your screwed! Also, make sure the locking clips, (the silver bumps) are free of debris and push back when touched. If your cable is OK, and is an Apple product or approved for iPod use, Should get you back to charging. If there is no debris, the power supply is good and cables are free of shorts, and still will not charge, try resetting first. If still no joy, then attempt to restore, from backup. If still zip, make sure you have a current backup and restore to new. If a full factory restore does not work, you most likely have a hardware issue. Also, check that there is little to no movement of the port on the iPod, if you can see movement, or damage (missing pieces, cracks, etc.), the port maybe damaged. Schedule an appointment with Apple to have your iPod evaluated, be sure to bring the cables and charging device if possible. Hope this helps. Good luck, Cheers.

Some movie rentals i can transfer from ipad but most not! Whats the problem? They are all SD. Some are watched others not. It just seems to be a fluke sometimes that they show up in the rented movies when i sync. And bought movies I always have to manually transfer to my computer!

How did you rent them ? From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657 :
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

  • How can I disable a PCI or USB device (including the video card)?

    Hi
    I'd like to save some power and reduce the heat of my fanless barebone (an atom-based arctic mc001, see here;
    http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B005DL6 … 5DL6V8G%22
It consumes 25W idle, and gets a bit hot.
So I'd like to disable some of the devices I don't use.
    For instance:
    - the internal wifi dongle (appears in lsusb)
    - the internal TNT tuner (appears in lsusb)
    - the internal DVD drive
    - the internal radeon graphic card
For all of these devices, I do a "echo 1 > unbind" in sysfs, for the correct devices.
After that, all these devices seem 'disconnected' IE they no t not appear anymore in lsusb or lspci (for the radeon)
I also put the USB ports in 'auto' power mode
After that, the devices do not generate any IRQs or wakeups anymore, according to powertop...
But the power consumption does not decrease a lot... less that 1W...
So I wonder if the fact to unbind the devices really disconnects them or not.
Especially for the radeon... shouldn't I underclock it as much as possible instead? If so, how?
    Thanks for your help.
    Eric

I can't really help you much but to give you a warning. underclocking/undervolting too much can damage a video card without your knowledge, if your going to underclock it make sure you do stabilty tests. Your also gonna need it for any graphics environment you may want if your processor doesn't have one, unless your going command line only. you can try seeing if disabling it with rf-kill does anything.  you can also use iwconfig to turn on power saving on your wifi-card, and try adjusting your cpu scaling as well. logically I would'nt worry about  the dvd if heat is our concern a dvd drive in standby is proably not going to be throwing off a lot of heat or use very much power.. the big players are probably going to be your cpu, gpu and maybe that wifi card I know when mine is in use it just drains the battery with out power-saving. as for the tuner I have no idea. I hope this post can give you some ideas and maybe move you in the right direction. I can't garentee that all of this is accurate, some of it is logical assumptions. just trying to throw out some ideas to help a fellow arch -linuxer

  • Can the Apple USB charger be used to charge other non-Apple USB devices?

Can the Apple USB charger be used to charge other non-Apple USB devices?  I just purchased an electric toothbrush that uses a USB port to charge.  If I'm traveling, I would like to consolidate and take only one charger.  Would it be ok to use the apple charger for both items?

Yes, as long as your toothbrush doesn't require more than 5W power draw.

  • Will an Apple Iphone 3g charge from a Powered USB Hub while the computer is

    Hello,
Will an Apple Iphone 3g charge from a Powered USB Hub while the computer is sleeping?
I have a Motorola SLVR L7, two BCK-08 Bluetooth Stereo Headsets and two iPower Secondary iPhone batteries that all charge from my Powered USB Hub while my main computer is sleeping.
It would seem that my iPhone 3g will not charge from a Powered USB Hub while the computer attached to it is sleeping?
Is there any way to get an Iphone 3g to charge from a PoWeReD UsB HuB while the computer it is attached to is sleeping?
I'm thinking in terms of greening things ... but this is making me leave a 170 Watt computer running while I sleep ... I don't use the computer much while asleep ...
    Thanks for your time,
    Bobby

    How 'linux' is OS X?
In linux you can get a lot of USB information by typing "+lsusb -v+"
    or through "/proc/bus/usb/devices"
(but they would both list everything connected via USB)
if you knew the vendor and device id you could type as an example
    +(laptop:/proc/bus/usb) # lsusb -v -d 050d:805c+
    +Bus 001 Device 008: ID 050d:805c Belkin Components+
    +Device Descriptor:+
    +idVendor 0x050d Belkin Components+
    +idProduct 0x805c+
    +bcdDevice 0.01+
    +iManufacturer 1 Ralink+
    +iProduct 2 802.11 n WLAN+
    or
    /proc/bus/usb/devices
    +T: Bus=01 Lev=02 Prnt=03 Port=02 Cnt=01 Dev#= 8 Spd=480 MxCh= 0+
    +D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1+
    +P: Vendor=050d ProdID=805c Rev= 0.01+
    +S: Manufacturer=Ralink+
    +S: Product=802.11 n WLAN+
    +C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr= 4mA+
In windows under details it lists the parent ID (port above) so if you found the USB port the iPhone was connected to ... you could find the hardware and vendor id or name of the hub it was plugged in to ...
I'm thinking it might be easier and more positive to start a thread requesting that anyone who has an iPhone that will charge from their computer through a USB Hub while that computer is sleeping ... but I don't know if I can start a thread with a title that long ...

  • Can I connect a 4 TB USB drive to the airport extreme and use it as a network drive for Time Machine

Can I connect a 4 TB USB drive to the airport extreme and use it as a network drive for Time Machine

Yes, if the drive is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
The USB port on the Time Capsule is under powered, so you may need use a powered USB hub with the 4 TB drive...even if it has its own power supply.

  • HT4623 My iphone 5 seems to be stuck in the horizontal view when I'm in the message mode.  In all other views I can turn the phone 90 degrees and horizontal to vertical works fine.  Not sure what the problem is.

My iphone 5 seems to be stuck in the horizontal view when I'm in the message mode.  In all other views I can turn the phone 90 degrees and horizontal to vertical works fine.  Not sure what the problem is.

    I found a solution!
Perhaps this is just temporary, but I have my display up and working again.
Although the symptoms are different were a bit different, the solution here worked:
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/120259/grey-screen-after-login-blue-scr een-of-death-from-cmdr
As I was able to connect to my HD via an external monitor, in the finder, I went to:
    1. Macintosh HD --> System --> Library --> Extensions
    2. From there I moved all of the files that started with ADM and ATI (19 in total for me) to a folder on my desktop. (You will need to enter your admin password for this)
    3. Next was a restart.
    4. Then my display started working again.
    5. After that, I transferred the files back into my Extensions folder.
    6. I then did another restart with my fingers crossed and breath held. It worked.
Also... During the last few days of trying to find a fix, I restored a Mavericks backup to my computer away from Yosemite.
I'm very sure this problem occurred when I put my MBP to sleep, disconnected the power in its sleep, while something was connected to a USB port and unplugging the USB device (for me an iPhone charger) while the MBP was closed.
I hope this helps the next person.

The batterys the ipods come with are very sensetive somtimes they dont react right to the first couple of charges. Try fully charging it and then leaving it on until its completely drained a few times. If that doesnt work it might be a lemon.

My Ipod 4th Gen will not turn on. When I hook it up to the computer I get the ITunes symbol and the usb device on the screen of the Ipod. When I go to restore the Ipod it will not restore. I am getting unknown error code 6.

    Likely this:
Errors related to third-party security software
    Error 2, 4 (or -4), 6, 40, 1000, 9006
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

  • Mid 2010 iMac upgraded SSD, can't seem to install windows via bootcamp. Windows can't be installed on this storage device. The chosen harddisk contains a MBR-partition-table. Windows can only be installed on GPT-harddisks on EFI-systems error

I have windows 8.1 on DVD & on USB CF Reader/Card. I've followed the full steps in bootcamp, but when it restarts and its time to select the bootcamp partition to install windows (after alt rebooting to the efi startup) I get the "Windows can't be installed on this storage device. The chosen harddisk contains a MBR-partition-table. Windows can only be installed on GPT-harddisks on EFI-systems" error.
I've scoured the internet trying different solutions that seem to work for everyone else, but to no avail. I've reformatted from that screen, doesn't help. I've removed bootcamp partition and manually partitioned using disk util, leaving it empty once partition-wise, and filling it with a blank partition the second time. I've done a full back up and clean re-install of Yosemite, and nothing seems to be working.
Thats when I switched to DVD install, as I heard sometimes you can't install with a CF card. When I alt-boot, I can see EFI-windows and windows, but if I select EFI-windows, same problem as before, and if I select windows, I get the black screen of "no bootable device please insert boot disk and press any key."
I've been stuck w/o bootcamp for over 2 years now. Anyone, please help?
Mid 2010 iMac running 256gb SSD, Yosemite 10.10.1 trying to install windows 8.1

I am having the same problem. Windows is trying to install. It identifies the various partitions but says that I cannot install Windows on the Boot Camp partition or any other. I select Drive options (advanced) and Format the Boot Camp drive, but it makes no difference.
    This is the Windows error:
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks.
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer BIOS menu.
I am not sure what Csound1 is suggesting with that post above. There are some involved suggestions over here <https://discussions.apple.com/message/23548999#23548999> about using Disk Utility to delete the Boot Camp partition and create new ones - is that the idea?
