I can t connect my airport at laptop on windows

I can t no more connect my laptop at my airport. the laptop os is windonws xp.

XP must be SP3 with all the latest updates.
Reset the airport and use SMB standard names for everything.
Short, 2-10 characters is plenty.. but up to 25 if you are enthuastic.
No spaces in the names.
No special characters.
So for example.
Airport name.. Airport1 (increment the number with further equipment)
2.4ghz name Airport24ghz
5ghz name Airport5ghz
Use different names as it helps whilst you get around problems.. you can go back to single name for both later if you fix it.
Start with no security.
If you can connect then use wpa2 personal. no other security is suitable for N wireless.
Use a 10-20 character pure alphanumeric password.
If the windows fails at this point.. then back off the security to wpa+wpa2 but this is poorer.. and you should replace the computer or the OS asap.

  • HT1126 Can I connect the Airport Express directly to my wireless router?

The old owner of my house set the Air port for my use, gave me a password ... when I tried it, the password never worked.
DO not want to lose my old wireless system as it allows me to do more than just the Air Port.
    should I reset the system?

can i connect the airport express into an ethernet port in the wall
I assume you are asking about obtaining an Internet connection here.
First, temporarily turn off the wireless on a laptop and connect the laptop to the Ethernet wall jack with an Ethernet cable. Can you log on to the Internet this way?
If yes, then you can connect an AirPort Express to this Ethernet port and configure it to provide a wireless signal for multiple devices.
If no, then you can connect the Express, but you will not have an Internet connection.

In non tech language if you have a bell Internet thing then you just go to settings and wifi and it should show something like bell... And if you have something else then there's a big chance you would need a wireless router. Go to the source they have cheap ones.

  • How to access a USB disk drive connected to Airport Extreme from a Windows 7 PC?

How can I access a USB disk drive connected to Airport Extreme from a Windows 7 PC?

...Called it a roaming network.  Wireless mode is create a wireless network. I have checked allow this network to be extended.  Probably need to uncheck that?
Yes, that option should be deselected as it only pertains to when both routers are interconnected by wireless. Since you have a roaming network, they of course, would be interconnected by Ethernet.
The other important settings for a roaming network are:
Each router must have a unique station name. For the AirPort, this would be called its Base Station Name. I believe the default station name for Linksys routers is: linksys
Each router must broadcast a wireless network with an identical Network Name. For the Linksys, Network Name is the same as its SSID.
Each router wireless network must use the same Wireless Security type and password. The Linksys WRT-54G is capable of up to WPA2 Personal. If you have it set to this level of security, the AirPort should be at the same setting.
Make sure that each router is not on the same Radio Channel for the 2.4 GHz radio. In the US, there are basically only three non-overlapping channels: 1, 6, or 11. Set each so that they don't use the same channel but use of those three choices.

  • Ipad mini 32 and can't connect to my HP Pavilion DM1 windows 8 via bluetooth

Just got a new Ipad mini 32 and can't connect to my HP Pavilion DM1 windows 8 via bluetooth. I get to the stage where you have to confirm on both systems the generated code and then it goes in error. Not supported. Any clue ?

Unless you have an iOS app that uses BT for a specific purpose, such as file transfer, BT on the iPad alone, as stated, does not support it.

  • HP laptop can't connect to AirPort Extreme

My dad has an HP laptop with an 802.11G wifi card. When I enabled AirPort Disk and restarted the router, the laptop came up with a "Limited or no connectivity" error. I tried resetting the network, unplugging the router, and even extending it with an AirPort Express I own. The range without the Express is good, but the laptop can't connect. And I checked the logs and from what I can tell, the issue is on the laptop's end. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check the encryption protocol of your network as well as the Radio mode (n with b/g compatibility). You need to select one of the protocols which is available on your laptop (e.g. WEP). I can't recall exactly, but I don't believe SP1 has WPA. WEP isn't as secure, though.

  • ¿ Can i connect an Airport to my laptop without wireless?

is there a way for me to connect the airport express to my MacBook without having an internet connection? i want to use it to connect my printer or stream music from iTunes.
i heard it can be done but i don't know how.
all i know is that you can connect a printer to an apple computer and make the printer accessible to other apple computers or laptops on the house.

Ofcourse you can. There's no difference whether you are using it for internet or for music streaming or utilizing the print server function.
Plug in the Airport Express, connect your printer via USB and set it up via System Preferences (Print & Fax).
Launch iTunes, it should automatically detect the A.Express (AirTunes) and you'll see a button (on the lower-right bottom of iTunes) to direct your music to the speakers hooked up to the A.Express.
(Just to be sure, go to iTunes Preferences/Advanced/General and make sure to check "Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes")

  • Bad Connection with Airport & PC Laptop

I'm having a problem here. I have an old iMac. I bought it in 2000. It's one of the Special Edition Graphite models. I just got an (original) Airport card for it to try to make a wireless network so that I could connect using my work laptop (IBM Thinkpad). Since it's my work computer, I don't want to try to mess with settings on that computer (and I'm not sure I could anyway).
I really don't have much knowledge about this, so I'm just going to explain what I've done and what happened, and hopefully someone who knows more about this can figure out where I've gone wrong.
I installed the card, and then I have the Airport Icon up in the upper right corner next to the time. So I go in there and select Create Network. I name it and leave the channel on Automatic (11). Then I hit Show Options and check the box for Enable Encryption. I selected 128-bit and entered a 13 digit password made up of letters and numbers. (I also tried 40-bit with a 5 letter password.) Then I hit Ok.
Going into Internet Connect, it shows the network with a good signal level. When I look at Wireless networks on my PC, it lists it, although the icon next to it is two computers (for computer-to-computer) rather than an antenna-like icon that the other networks showing up have. I connect to it and it says that I have excellent signal strength. But when I try to go to a web page, I get nothing. hen I look at the status for the connection in the PC, it shows a lot of Packets sent, but none received. And Address Type is Automatic Private Address, while IP Address is 169.XXX.X.XXX. Subnet Mask is 255.255.0.0. There is nothing for Default Gateway, DNS Server, or WINS Server.
Can someone help me figure out how to fix this and connect properly? I would really appreciate it! If you need any more information, just ask.
    Thanks!

  • Vaio Can't Connect to Airport Extreme

I'm not able to connect to my 3-year-old Airport Extreme base station from a newer Sony Vaio laptop with an Intel wireless modem. I administer the base station from a G5 iMac and use 128 bit WEP encryption. Wireless connections from Mac's as well as from a 6 year old Vaio with SMC wireless card work quite well. Not so for the year-old Vaio -- which otherwise works well at unencrypted public access points. I downloaded/installed an updated modem driver from Sony, but that did not cure the problem. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

  • D-Link wireless + Cable Internet:: can't connect via AirPort

Just got my service changed from DSL to Cable and can't connect via wireless (but can with an Ethernet cable). Have tried the Wi Router settings to no avail. Any ideas? I think I might not be doing some setting in the comp correctly. Please help. Router is D-Link DIR-625.

Did you open Airport and see if you see the wireless router? If you can see it, you can select it and then make sure it is set up properly in networks in the system prefs.

  • G4 can't connect to Airport

Yesterday, I installed Airport E, and I can now connect both a MacBook and an iMac G5 to the internet. The G4, which is not wireless had been (until yesterday) the only computer that could connect and get online. I know that I should be able to run an Ethernet cable to the Base; I have done, but no connection is made. Under System Preferences, it says that the "Cable for Built-in Ethernet is not plugged in" - which of course, it is. I have tried two cables, both brand new; the port is good - it worked up until the moment I hooked the modem to the AE Base.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

What sort of Airport? There are two meanings of Airport. One is AirPort Access Point made by Apple. Such as AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme. The other meaning to the term "Airport" is Wireless device to Macintosh computers. When you say you connect to "Airport", I don't know which Airport is broadcast the signal as an Access Point device. Because Macintosh itself CAN BE an Access Point base itself too! Was your G4 Mac mini connected to the New Mac mini or there was a Wireless Access Point device in your house? It's different.

  • Self-assigned ip address -- can't connect to Airport

I have a 2006 MacBook Pro which recently started exhibiting the exact same behaviour as reported by another poster in 2011:
For some reason the computer has started self-asigning its IP address and Network Preferences says that, because of the self-assigned IP, i cannot connect to the network.
I have two other Macs connecting to the same Air Port with no issues and I've tried to duplicate those settings on the MacBook Pro but still get the "self-assigned ip" message
Tried re-setting SMC and PRAM, no change.
The only change to my wireless setup was the change from a Verizon-owned modem to an owned Motorola unit (but the MacBook Pro connected successfully, many times, after the change).
I didn't knowingly change anything on the MacBook Pro -- from one day to the next it just stopped connecting.
I'm really at a loss to understand what's going on and, of course, not happy that the MacBook Pro can't connect to my network anymore! Help!

The wifi icon shows no connection with the network -- the "!" mark.
However the computer sees the network, i.e. when I search in Network Preferences the network is listed.
So: 1) the computer sees the network but 2) will not connect to the network. The reason given for refusal to connect is "self-assigned IP address".
Not to be repetitive but two other Mac laptops are connected to the same network and working perfectly. The network preferences, as shown in the "advanced" section, are the same for all machines, i.e. DHCP is selected and IPv6 is Automatic.
