I can't copy and paste in Pages

I have a brand new MacBook Pro that I JUST got for Christmas. I downloaded Pages shortly after. However, all of a sudden I can't copy and paste between documents or even in the SAME document. I tried command+c and command+v and when I do that the Edit section lights up like it recognizes what I'm doing but it won't show up when I paste it. I also tried to do it by manually selecting copy and paste int he Edit section. I don't understand! Someone help me!

Creating a new user account is not necessary linked to the physical existence of an other user. It's helpful when we want to work different ways. It's also useful to help to solve problems like yours.
If an app behave wrongly in account A and behave flawlessly in account B, we know that we may limit the range of files in which something is wrong to the account ones.
As you can't give us the info, we must guess.
So guessing that the problem is in your account, I will say :
Quit/Close Pages
move Pages preferences file to the Desktop
The file's path is :
<startupVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.pl ist
CAUTION: to reach it under Lion, you must press the option key while triggering the Finder's menu [ Go ] to get the menu item "Library.
Restart Pages
If it behave well, the 'old' prefs file was corrupted.
The odd behavior may be linked to a problem with fonts.
Run : FontBook to scan your fonts to get rid of corrupted or conflicting fonts.
Get the free maintenance tool MAINTENANCE from :
http://www.titanium.free.fr/download.php
CAUTION : take care to download the version dedicated to your system.
Run it with the settings displayed below:

As the title says...
I select multiple boxes on a table in pages, I copy the info then try and paste in another table, but it's not having it
I'm on a 2011 imac running the latest lion, but my pages is 08.
Is this because a) my pages is old b) the documents were created on an older intel computer and migrated over, so do I need to uprgrade iWork?

We never know the experience level of the operator. I try to judge, but of course I am often wrong, in both directions. When you referred to "boxes", instead of "cells", in your first post, I didn't know if it was a language difference or an experience gap.
The only thing I can suggest at this point is that it's always a good idea to run some maintenance after an upgrade. I use OnyX here.

I can't copy and paste from Pages anymore!

I'm running on Yosemite and newest Pages Version (updated today) and now I can't copy texts from Pages (e.g. into InDesign or Photoshop) anymore.
I have to convert it into simple text, then open it with TextEdit to make copy & paste possible again.
Please fix! Thank you.

Thanks for replying. Actually I want to copy/paste a recipe from a website so I can keep the recipe. On p 39 it tells how to copy/paste, which I do a lot already, but it doesn't tell where to paste it so I can access or print it whenever I want. It's kind of a long recipe. Too long to type out. Bridge CS6 Mac XMP File Info Panel Bug: can't copy and paste metadata

The cmd-keys / shortcuts doesn't work in the xmp file info panel btw. in the xmp / iptc fields (e.g. cmd+c, cmd+v, ...) of Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.7.3). You are not able to cut and paste info from one box to another like previous versions.
This bug only appears in the xmp file info window (opened via alt+i) in Bridge CS6 - if you edit information or metadata in the file info panel in Photoshop CS6 copy and paste from one field to another works.
The shortcuts also work under Windows (tested under Vista).
I noticed this minor bug already one in the Photoshop CS6 Beta more than one months ago. I hoped that this was corrected in the official test version, but unfortunately it is not. Although it is a minor bug, it is IMHO a basic function and would be very helpful in my daily work - it is too bad, that such a small thing is making working with the application a little bit annoying.

That is a bug in Firefox.
You can set the Boolean pref dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled to false on the about:config page or alternatively hold down Ctrl+C keys until the translate selection disappears that text in the left input text area start flashing.

There are a range of different kinds of forms. For example, this site uses very simple controls that don't automatically convert Word's formatting to an online format. The site where you are trying to paste your resume probably works differently.
What methods have you tried using to paste? Typically one of these will work:
* Ctrl+v
* right-click > Paste
* Edit > Paste (from the menu)
Some sites offer their own buttons to paste, but for security/privacy reasons, Firefox usually disables those.
