I can't delete a partition from my Hard Drive using Boot Camp!!??!!

Hello. Earlier today I installed Windows 8 to my iMac using boot camp and creating a partition. I've decided I don't like it, and want to remove it. I cannot delete the partition!! Help!!

How are you trying to delete it? What happens when you try? There is only one way to remove a Bootcamp partition and return your drive to a single OSx partition, use Bootcamp Assistant and choose the menu option to remove Windows.

    How would I do this?

If you have Lion installed, and run Boot Camp, it will create the boot flash for you, just followe the tutorial on screen. As far as I remember, this was not possible prior to Lion.

  • Can i delete tv shows from my hard drive and download anytime later from iCloud?

I have purchased season subscriptions to TV shows and have purchased movies, which all reside on my hard drive in HD and standard definition.  Can I delete the shows and movies from my hard drive, via iTunes, to free space and then download later via iCloud as needed?  I primarily watch everything via Apple TV through iCloud.

  • Can I install windows 7 on a potable Hard Drive using boot camp? or any other way to do so?? need help for college please

I need to use windows in order to use Visual C++ for college but I don't have enough space in my internal Hard Drive so I want to install windows 7using boot camp or any other method on a portable hard drive and boot from it.
Please help I need it as soon as possible for school. Thanks

You can't boot Windows natively except on internal drives.
You can use a VM and put the VM image (VHD) anywhere any drive you want.
You are way too low on disk space, seriously so. And no room - even Windows and Mac OS should be warning and balking already.
"emulator" is an old-school term, even true, running a Guest OS under Mac's as a virtual machine, shared resources (RAM, processor) is easier but not the same performance level as running natively.

  • Can't delete iTune Movies from  my hard drive

    Hi,
I wondered if anyone could help...
I maxed out my hard drive with iTune Movies and music, and have been trying to transfer to an external hard drive which is fine, but... I can't delete them from my laptop's hard drive (Vista on Sony Vaio). I don't have the same problems with the music at all, just the movies.
I'm running out of space, help!
    Thanks
    A

OK, so that tells us it's the operating system permissions for your account.
In WE, go to the top-level music folder.
Right-click > Properties and go to the Security tab.
Give your windows userID *full control* and ownership of that music folder and make sure to apply those settings to all child/subfolders.
This web page has some Windows 7 screenshots - I think they look the same for Vista.

  • Can I delete installer packages from internal hard drive?

I've a SSD with only 112g capacity so I'm constantly figuring out ways to dump unnecessary hard drive occupants. I found 3.4g being taken up by Installer Packages, can I safely delete these spacehogs?
    Please see screen shot. Thanks!

Thanks mende1!  I read somewhere that it might delete "unistallers" also?

  • How do I prevent the Lion boot partition from being reformatted when using boot camp?

Under Windows 7, Computer Mgt, I shrink the C drive to create another drive.  When I right click on the unused drive to format it, 200MB Lion boot is formatted and assigned a drive letter F.  But I did not tell Windows 7 Computer Management to do that.  I clicked on the unused 170GB space to create it as F, I did not click on the 200MB Lion boot partition at the front of the list.
Now I have to take the computer back to the Apple store to reinstall Lion for me.
I tried this twice and it happened twice.  So now I need to go back to the Apple store a second time for help on the same problem.
Would the 200MB Lion boot disk at the front be safe from reformatting if I first made it drive letter F, and then made the new drive letter H at the right side of the drive list in Computer Management?  Also, there is an unlettered drive between the Lion drive E and the Windows 7 drive C.  Should I make that G prior to formatting drive H?
By the way, I did this on another MacBook pro that was using Snow Leopard, following the same procedure, and had no problems.  So could a different version of Boot Camp be the issue?

I just found an older question similar to this one that you also replied to. It was from 2012 and never solved. The only things I am using in my set up is a male quarter inch cable from my guitar to my interface, a USB cable from my interface to my computer, and headphones from my interface to my ears of course. Just like in the other question I found I have everything in the Audio MIDI Setup of the computer set to use the interface as input and output and I also have everything in garage band setup to use the interface as audio input and output. Any new track is recording the metronome and any old track that is being played in the headphones. No external speakers are being used for monitoring and no microphones are being used.

    A Espinoza,
The iTunes Media folder is set in Preferences > Advanced, and is the key to most iTunes folder organizational activities.  So I doubt that the automatic deletion will work for files that are somewhere else within the folder structure.
However, I have not experimented with that issue in quite a while, so you are welcome to give it a try in iTunes 11.

I copied all my CD's onto a hard drive.  Can I transfer each CD from the hard drive to my iPhone either wirelessly or by direct connection?  Do I have to make a playlist for each cd and then transfer it to my iPhone?

When you buy your new iMac you will be able to have the installation process transfer all your applications, data (including music, pictures, documents, etc) and settings to your new computer. In the past that was done via Firewire. I'm not entirely sure of the process with the new iMacs that don't have firewire. I think it can be done via ethernet and probably via tha thunderbolt cord using a firewire adapter but you'll want to check that out.
With the your new computer properly connected to your old computer, the initial booting of the new computer will include the ability to move everything over.
If for some reason you don't want to do that (smart if you have some horrible software issue that is causing problems) you can connect your old computer to the new one and start it in Target Disk mode where it will be seen as a hard drive. You can then manually copy over all your music and import that into iTunes (and any other data you want).
Somebody here will surely point you to directions for connecting an older iMac with no Thunderbolt to a newer iMac with no Firewire.

How do I delete SMS text from the hard drive of a iPhone 3GS

If you want to delete the messages from within the text app, swipe over the name or number of the sender and hit delete.
If you are afraid that someone will be able to restore them by ckecking your HD, you will have to set up the phone "as new device" or choose "erase all content and Settings" in Settings/General/Reset. But this willerase the whole phone, not only your text messages.

  • I can't delete things off my external hard drive

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) (Verified)
      MacBook Pro - model: MacBookPro5,5
      1 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU: 2-core
I bought a Seagate 2TB external hard drive. i can get stuff on it no problem but I can't delete certain things from my trash. When I try to delete some, not all, things off it a box appears that says:
"the operation can't be completed because ..... is in use."
It's not, I have all the applications closed. I have tried the normal delete, the secure delete, I have tried turning the laptop off and then trying to delete again when its on and it's not working, I have tried putting the file back on the Hard drive and then moving it to the trash again (this has worked for me before with other drives) and deleting, that is also not working.

This is concerned in particular with backups.. but what is relevant is the command to empty the trash.

Doing stuff from terminal as you know .. be very careful.
I would do a permissions fix beforehand. Just open the disk the disk utility and run the repair.
Or again you can do it from terminal.

  • How to delete a file from my hard drive through iTunes?

I want to delete a file through my iTunes. Whenever I do, it just gives me a dialog window telling me that it will delete the file from the library and my iPod. It does NOT delete it from my hard drive. I do NOT want to let iTunes manage my music.
How can I delete files? It seems crazy that I wouldn't be able to.

hmm. for some strange reason after doing that it just simply warns me that in deleting the song(s) it will ruin my playlists/mess up songs currently on my ipod.
im just trying to delete all the songs that are under a minute from various albums because they take a lot of room, yet are pretty useless. but they are strung out over multiple files and i simply would love to be able to delete them all from the library where they are arranged. do you know of any other techniques to fix it?
