I can't delete ibooks on my MBP

so aparaently ibooks is "needed" by OSX marverics for some reason.. every single time i use disk utility and i give my mac a clean and check every-2-3 weeks or so a list as long as a highway is repaired all for ibooks?! everytime?!.. and since i upgraded to OSX maverics "its fully updated right now btw" my mac has been a tad buggy, regarding safari and small glitches, can someone please explain why ibooks cant't be deleted though? reason why i want to delete it is because i dont read books on my mac and this list of errors and repairs worries me...

Why are you running the verify and repair so often. That is something that only needs to be done if you are experiencing problems.
If you run the verify and it comes back with errors and suggests you Repair Disk then you have other problems other than iBooks. I just did a Verify on my Mavericks partition, from Mavericks, and everything came back fine with the Repair Disk button still greyed out meaning no repair is necessary. If you are getting the Repair option after a verify you have other problems with your Mac.
Investigate and repair those other problems.

  • How can I delete iBooks from iCloud?

I downloaded some free iBooks.  After I read them, I clicked "delete" and a dialog box said they are deleted from my computer but remain in iCloud and can be downloaded later.  But I want to delete them from iCloud as well as from my computer.  How can I delete iBooks from iCloud?

You cannot delete them form icloud.
Icloud is a service that allows redownloading of past purchases.  That is the point.

  • Can i use iBooks on my MBP

hi lads and/or lasses, i have got my missus an iPad2 and got her fixed up with iBooks very easily, i then think i will use it on my MBP as well, but it seems that iBooks is for Mobile Applications ONLY, Please, have i got that right ?.
I can view the iBooks file in iTunes, i can also select it and View in Finder, which puts me looking at a folder called "mobile applications" !, so where in the Folder tree on my Hard Drive is that folder ?.
i am a little bit confused, maybe the applications are different for iPad and MBP but maybe the Books i can download are the same ?, that is of course if i can ever get iBooks on my Lap Top ?.
Or what about Kindle ?, does this use the same "books" as iBooks ?.
    tim

Timmy, iBooks works on the iOS, and the Mac works on OS X; they are not the same. That's the bad news, meaning that you can't use iBooks on your Mac.
The good news is that there are readers available for the Mac that will allow you to read epub (the format used in iBooks) books on your Mac. Kindle has its own format, too, which is not interchangeable with iBooks. HTH.

  • How can i delete some books from ibook?

How can i delete some books from ibook? It says: this book can't be opened. The book is corrupt. I can't open and I can't delete it

I was unable to delete a book sample from my iPhone 5s running iOS 7.  This seems to be what worked for me.  I went to the Library and clicked "edit" in upper right side of the screen.  I then tapped one time on the book I wanted to remove and a blue check appeared at the bottom right corner of that book (presumably you could tap several at a time)  Anyway, when the blue check is on the book, you will see in the upper left of the screen the word "Delete" (mine was in red) I clicked that and then a confirming dialog came up from the bottom of the screen with the choices of "delete" or "cancel".  I chose "delete" and the book was gone.  Hope this helps.

  • How can I delete the purchased books list in iBook?

How can I delete the purchased books list in iBook?

    Hi,
Yes you are miss understanding the problem.  To clarify. The problem is not how to delete the book from a device, it is how to delete the puchase (i.e. the history).  You can hide it in your account settings, but you cannot delete it. So if you buy something on a shared account (i.e. a family account like mine), your children can see and download any of your puchases - forever.
Some will say it's for your protection.  A bit like the shop looking after your receipt, so that you cannot lose it.
However, I thought that as part of the data protection act, you could ask for this information kept about you to be deleted, but this doesn't apply to Apple purchases.  Believe me I've tried.

    Hi,
the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support  (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).

You can delete the empty one by dragging it to the trash ( test everything before emptying the trash)
Merging libraries requires iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  it is the only current solution to merging libraries

  • Can I delete purchase history from ibooks?

How can I delete unwanted purchase history from my iBooks account?

Well, it is possible to delete it permanently.
At first I should notice the problem is that, when you delete a book from ibook in mac the notification which comes up tells that the book would remain in icloud so you have to delete it from icloud.
To do this, open itunes, click on itunes store link on top right, now your your apple id should be show up on top left side, now click on books link next to app store on top, this full page is apple bookstore, on the right bar under "books quick links" you would see "purchased", click on it.
THESE ARE ALL THE BOOKS YOU HAVE BOUGHT. IF YOU SLIDE OVER EACH OF THEM YOU WOULD SEE A "X" SIGN ON TOP LEFT SIDE OF EACH COVER CLICK ON IT, BY DOING SO YOU WOULD DELETE THE BOOK FOREVER FROM ICLOUD IN YOUR APPLE ACCOUNT.
BY NOW IF YOU DELETE THE BOOK FROM YOUR IBOOKS APP IN YOUR MAC, IT WOULDN'T TELL YOU THAT IT WOULD BE STORED IN ICLOUD.
YOU'VE DELETED THE BOOK FROM YOUR MAC AND YOUR ICLOUD APPLE ACCOUNT. AND YOU WOULDN'T SEE IT ANYMORE.
    YOUR DONE.
    HAVE FUN.

  • HT4059 Can I delete books from my iBooks account?

Can I delete books from my iBooks account?

Yes, you can delete books from iPad and from all your OS devices.
Open iBooks, select the list display, not the bookshelves display, then click on Edit at top right. Highlight the title to be deleted and "tick" the button to the left of the selected title. Then simply click the red Delete button at the top left. You will be given two delete options, so just select the one you require.
    Trust this helps.

  • How can I restore deleted iBooks collections (folders)

    Hi,
Can I restore iBooks collections after accidentally deleting them and syncing deletions on all my devices? I thought changes would apply only on 1 device. I think the files are still stored in my iTunes / iOs devices.

No. The titles should still be available for download, but the actual Collections would need to be recreated.

  • HT1926 I am trying to delete an old version of itunes in my ibook G4 so I can install the newest version and can not delete the old version because it says I don't have enough privileges, help?

I am trying to delete an old version of itunes in my ibook G4 so I can install the newest version and can not delete the old version because it says I don't have enough privileges, help?

iTunes is not installing because its incompatible with your OS. When installing the correct version the new version will update the older version, there is no need to uninstall first.
The last version of  iTunes compatible with OSX 10.4 is iTunes 9.2.1
You can down load iTunes 9.2.1 here:
