I can't delete my older version of Itunes but everything else deleted... : S

Hi, Im desparete...I really dont know what to do, I tried to download PC clean up, didnt work, tried to download the new I tunes, doesnt work,,,
I have deleted everything else (quicktime, etc. etc) and always gives me the following statement; the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. what can I do????

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).

Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
(2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port

Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

Apple never replies to posts made in these forums. These are user-to-user forums only.
As to answers from fellow users, I can only guess that others assumed that you could do a web search and find what you're looking for. But Apple almost never keeps old versions of iTunes (or any other software) available for download. The only place you could find an older version of iTunes 10.x would be on an unauthorized site, and that carries a signficant risk of getting malware rather than the software you're looking for. You can do a web search and you can probably find such places, but you're on your own as far as whether or not they're reliable.

What is it that you are having issues with?
Did you know that you can display the same sidebar you were used to seeing on the old iTunes by clicking on "View" at the top, and then clicking on "Show Sidebar"?
The Songs tab provdes your list of songs that can have the same columns you had on the old Music tab, and you can sort them by any of the categories you have selected for columns.
It may just take a little getting used to. Not sure if you noticed, but the downloading of songs and other purchases is now lightening-fast. That particular trade-off is worth learning some new ways of navigating around. And finding that there are ways to bring back the "look" of the old iTunes was also helpful for me.
Are there particular things which are causing you grief?

to downgrade to a previous iTunes version, you could try this user tip that seemed to have worked for some:
+1) Quit iTunes.+
+2) Delete iTunes from your Applications folder.+
+3) Go to your ~/Music/iTunes folder. Delete or rename the "iTunes Library" file.+
+4) Open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and look for the backup of your old pre-9 library; it should be dated at about the time you first ran iTunes 9. Copy it back out to the ~/Music/iTunes folder, and rename it to "iTunes Library".+
+6) click here to download iTunes 8.2.1. The page says it's for G3, but the Read Me file says it'll run on G4, G5, and Intel too. Open the disk image and run the installer.+
+You should now be able to run iTunes 8.2.1 again.+
+And your iTunes will restore to before you upgraded and you won't lose anything+.

I had the exact problem. It would get to about 80% "updating library" then get stuck there. I went through all the "advised solutions" and then after days of looking I found the older version.. here you go: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605forwindows.html

Can I download an older version of iTunes?

Here is my situation:
I had iTunes running fine on my machine under Windows7 64bit, that is until I had a hard drive failure and needed to reinstall. I was running iTunes version 8.2, and was able to backup my iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml files, along with all of my music.
I have reinstalled Windows7 64bit and have downloaded iTunes and installed it, but when I place my old .itl and .xml files into the folder, it tells me I have an invalid library and it scraps it and builds a new one. Is this because the new iTunes version is now 8.2.1? I can see in the xml file where it identifies itself as version 8.2. Is there someplace I can go to download the older version and try again?
Is there something I am doing wrong, or a different approach I should take?

Am not impressed with the new itunes version taking away the ability to back-up music library to disc (backing up whole library that is, not just playlists) and so i am looking for somewhere i can download the older version 10.1.1 from. Ideas anyone?

I downloaded and reinstalled my old iTunes, didn't loose any music, but still ***** because they apparently won't let you access the iTunes store unless you upgrade. So those with older systems just rot.

I've just undertaken a fresh install of Win7 (x64) and re-installed all my apps including iTunes which I downloaded from the Apple site. Apple have obvuiously completely re-designed the UI. I'm not a big user of iTunes (undertaken reluctantly to keep Wifes iPod updated) and dont listen to mucic myself.
So, for me the new UI is just a pain in the ..... that frankly I cant be bothered with. Does anybody know whare I can download an old version of iTunes?

just got an iphone4s and plugged it in to my pc and itunes I needed a newer version of itunes. Downloaded 10.5 and thought that fixed the problem. It did not. After the install it says the destination source is bad. Any help would be appreciated.

Can I get an older version of iTunes?

I must be dyslexic or just plain accident prone. I installed iTunes 9.1.1.12 and that was a mistake! The requirements said I needed a Pentium D at least to run it. Guess I was in the habit of thinking my stuff was so new, everything would work - wrong! Is it possible to unload the latest iTunes and get back to one that will work with a Pentium 4?

Can anyone help me understand why *Apple is locking out Pentium 4 users from viewing the videos they purchased*? My video playback worked just fine until this last update of iTunes. Why would I be locked out of viewing videos that worked fine in the previous version? Better yet, why do my music videos play back just fine but my movies don't? What great architecture change is iTunes taking advantage of on the Pentium D platform? Is this just fallout of a deal between Apple and Intel to drum up sales?
