I cannot "deselect" the folder because it no longer exists and the photos were synced on a different itunes/computer. Now they are stuck and I can't find anyway to delete them and my memory is getting full! Please help me find a solution

Both "Delete" and "Cut" are grayed out from the EDIT menu so I'm no longer able to delete music from my ITunes library on my Mac. Thanks for the suggestion, Allan. I can't believe that worked since "Delete" is still grayed out from my "Edit" menu, but highlighting the tune and hitting the "Delete" key removed the song (it was a duplicate). Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate your help.

Can you delete images from both the Library and backup folders at the same time?

Is there a way to delete images from the Lightroom Library module and also have it delete the corresponding file in the backup folder?

Consider using a regular backup program, or plugin like TreeSyncPublisher which will assure backups are deleted along with sources.
If you really want no junk in Lr's 2nd copy storage, then delete everything there (or maybe just the older stuff), after making such "true" (synchronizing) backups.

Can't delete "Photo Library" from iPhone. Please help

I'm trying to delete the "photo library" off my iPhone (as well as all the sub folders it has created). I do not want to have all the images from iPhoto to be on my iPhone as well. When I plug-in my phone, I go to the photo tab in iTunes...un-click the "sync from iPhoto" option at the top...it then asks me if I'd like to remove all the images added via iPhoto to which I answer "remove" but then nothing happens. I've tried re-syncing it, re-starting it (phone, computer and itunes) but nothing happens. The phone is a 3G.

OK I was able to figure it out. First, I had to check the "Sync Photos from iPhoto" box in the photos tab. Second; I had to check, "Selected albums, events and faces and automatically included" Third; I to select "NO EVENTS" from the drop down menu. By selecting *no events* I was able to remove all the photos I did not take with my iPhone.
Hope this helps someone else too.

How can I delete songs from my iTunes Library & Computer

I've read that you need to have your music within the iTunes media folder.
My iTunes media folder is C:\Music
My music is scattered about this folder in subfolders like C:\Music\MP3\Rock & C:\Music\Mp3\Reggae...etc yet it doesn't ask me if I'd like to send the track to the recycle bin when I delete something.
I was hoping to use the song rating system to easily identify songs I want to remove from my computer but it won't work if it only deletes the song from my library.

If iTunes is connected to files outside the designated iTunes Media folder then it won't offer to delete them when the tracks are removed from the library. See KillSelectedFiles for a tool that can do this.
Alternatively you could consolidate your library so that all tracks are inside the media folder, but the downside with that is that you then have to hunt down the originals to delete. Or, instead of using iTunes own consolidate command, you could use my script ConsolidateByMoving.

If what you want to do is just delete a picture, just touch the trashcan while you're looking at the photo on your phone. On the other hand, if what you want to do is delete all the pictures from the phone after you transfer them to your computer, there is a checkbox on the screen when you transfer them into iPhoto asking whether to delete the selected pictures from the camera.

I am soooooooo frustrated. I just downloaded OS 5 on my Iphone 4 and bought Apple TV - and was introduced to what looked like the wonderful world of "iCloud" and Photostream. Particularly photo stream on my screen saver on my new Apple TV. I took numerous shots this weekend, most which I wanted to delete - with my Photo Stream on and all settings set on iCloud - my Iphone, and my PC.
For the life of me, I can not delete photos in my Iphone Photostream. I have done all you said Apple - go to iCloud - and "Reset PhotoStream..." (actually tried this about 10 times in the last 48 hours - and all I get is...

I know I';m not alone on this as I have seen other postings/users with the similar complaint.
I have turned on and off - the on - the photostream on my Iphone - yes - it deletes the photos, but then when you turn it back on, they ALL come back - including the unwanted ones.
I even turned off - then back on- the photo stream on the iCloud DAshboard (because someone said to do it) and it still didn't work.
Then I plugged my Iphone in to the computer - to go into my Photos - and manually deleted the photos I didn't want. . I did delete them, as well as the unwanted photos in Photostream on my PC, but the freaking unwanted photos are still on my iphone - and wont' go away. It's like a virus that won't dissapear. I took pictures of this ugly cow at a pumpkin patch sticking it's tongue out at me, and I can't get rid of them!!!
We have long been fans/customers of Apple (we own 2 iphones, a Mac, and an IPad). And.. just so you know, in all the time I've been writing this, I've been on "hold" waiting for an Apple Tech support person (3rd call to them in 2 days) to pick up, and all I get now is a ringing phone w no one answering it... I read the other VERY frustrated users on this forum and I don't see one clear cut answer on how to fix these problems. Apple - at least you can recognize the problem, own up to it, and tell us that this will be fixed - which I sure it will be at some point. You have to get this together.

And if any tech support person (and I know you guys are very nice and try the best you can) knows a thing or three on how to fix this, my case number is 252 894 095 and I would love to fix this issue. If you are using a PC, log on to iCloud using Safari (rather than Explorer) to reset the photostream. Then turn iPhone/iPad photostream off and back on. I was getting the same server error as you and this advice from another blog worked for my iPhone and iPad. But I still can't get photostream deleted from my apple tv. There does not seem to be a photostream on/off control In Apple tv 4.4 software. I tried switching the screen saver to one of the ones that comes preloaded on the device, then back to photostream but all the old photos are still there. If anyone can help with this, I would appreciate it.

In iOS 8, how can I delete pictures from photos app because I have run out of space, I need to delete at least 6 GB of pics. I deleted many purchased apps but it did not restore space. When I connect to iTunes it shows about 4 GB's allocated to documents & Data. I do not have any documents or data , also it shows a couple of GB's allocated to "other" I checked everything on the iPod and the only thing I can see using all my space is the pictures. Were the photos synced to the iPod?
If so you have to unsync them or use a third-party computer program like TouchCopy or PhoneView
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Delete them the same way you put them there. The sync process. Deselectg the album in itunes and sync.
Photo Album contains ALL synced photos and you can also view those exact same photos, not duplicates, from the albums.

How are you planning to store photos in iCloud? There are many ways to use iCloud with photos, but none will save space on your Mac:
iCloud Drive: Any photo you store on iCloud Drive will also have a shadow copy on your Mac, so you cannot save space, see: iCloud Drive FAQ

You can't delete the Photo Library. The iPhone stores photos the same way iPhoto does on a Mac. All photos are synced to your Photo Library. The various albums/folders merely contain pointers to the actual photos which are in your Photo Library, they are not duplicates.

Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced - and then re-syncing.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
If you want to remove all of the Photos - uncheck the Sync Photos from Heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

Photos in Photo Library must be removed by unchecking the folder(s) containing the photos on the Photos tab of yor iTunes sync settings and syncing your phone. (Only Camera Roll photos can be deleted directly from the phone).
