Can I delete foreign languages after installation?
If so, how? Objective is to free up disk space.
    Thanks.
    Hi....Found this info.
    1) Choose any application which 'has to slim'
    2) Option-Drag the application to any location you like (in order to create a backup copy of the application in case anything goes wrong)
    3) Control-Click on that program's icon
    4) Select 'Show Package Content'
    5) Go to Contents -> Resources
    6) Remove '.lproj' folders related to languages you don't speak (e.g. 'Dutch.lproj' or 'Japanese.lproj' folders)
You are done. Now double click the application: in case it doesn't run, you can restore the application from the location where you saved it before (step 2).

  • Can I delete my music on my Macbook air now that I have time machine set up?

I cannot see the music files on the time machine.  Can I delete my music on my Macbook air now that I have time machine set up to an external hard drive?

The Time Capsule is for your Time Machine backups, not "everyday" files. .
If you delete the music files on your MacBook Air.....there are a number of negative things that can occur.
    1) The only copy of your music will be on the Time Capsule. When....not if....the Time Capsule has a problem, you will lose your music files, since you have no backup for them. In other words, you always need at least two copies of your important files on two separate drives.
    2) Time Machine backs up the changes that occur on your MacBook Air. If you delete the music files from the MacBook Air, at some point Time Machine will also delete them from the Time Capsule.....and there is no way to know when this might occur.
A better plan to consider might be to add a USB or FireWire drive and connect it directly to your MacBook Air. Move the music files over to that drive.
Then, Time Machine will back up both your MacBook Air and the attached hard drive. So, you have an "original" copy of your data on one drive and a backup copy of the same data on the Time Capsule.  That would be a minimum backup plan.

  • USB drive - Can't delete strange files

I use a Toshiba 8GB USB drive. I had been using it for my PC. When I recently bought my first Apple (MacBook Pro), I used this USB drive to transfer some of the files between my mac & pc. But now some of the folders on this drive have strange names e.g. " µÑ?:π\-.>é⌐*". When I try to delete these files or folders containing these files, I get an error saying : "cannot read from source file or disk".
Same thing happened with one of the files in the "Trashes" folder on the USB drive and I can't empty it now.
    I have a few questions:
    1) Do you know why I got these files in the first place?
    2) Do I need them and therefore just not worry about them?
    3) Can I delete them and if yes, how?
    Thanks,
    Mukul

your best bet is to get any data off the drive that you want to save and copy it to a folder on your desktop, etc.
Then use disk utility and format the disk as fat 32, and user the erase option to zero out the drive.
once that is done, move your data back and enjoy.

  • How can you delete downloaded games from a Macbook Pro to create more available space?

it says I have 0KB available... how do i get rid of downloaded games to create extra space on my computer?

Start by dragging the games' applications to the Trash and Empty the Trash. See, also:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • How can I delete iMessages app off my macbook?

I do not want my text messages and all to come on my macbook. How can I remove this app off my macbook pro?

    Hi,
As Eric says turn it Off.
In Messages > Preferences > Accounts each account has an "Enable this Account" check box.
Untick the ones you don't want to use.
If you added AIM, Jabber or yahoo based accounts there can be deleted.
Highlight the Account account and use the "-" Minus icon below the List.
The Bonjour and iMessages account can not be deleted only deactivated.
For the iMessages you can Sign Out as well as just disabling.

  • How can I delete Facebook events from my macbook calendar?

I'm using a MacBook Pro. I want to know how to delete Facebook events from my computers calendar, because it's taking up space and preventing me from seeing other events on that day.
BUT, every time I try to delete it, an error message pops up "Only the calendar administrator and any delegates with permission can make changes to read-only calendars. To make changes to the calendar, contact the calendar administrator."
And I can't delete the event. Have not tried declining the event because I don't wanna offend the person who invited me.
Not a computer whiz, so idk if this helps but:

    OS X Version 10.9.4

  • How can I delete all data from my macbook air?

I'm trying to delete all the personal information from my hard drive, but leave the iOS.  HOW????

Oops -- the Mac's Operating System is Mountain Lion, not iOS.  I will assume you mean delete all your information, but leave Mountain Lion.
To do that, you can reboot your computer holding down the "Command" and "R" keys at least till the Apple logo appears (6 or 7 seconds).  Choose the recovery disk.  You'll then be able to erase your hard drive using Disk Utility and then reload Mountain Lion.

  • How can I delete the "Other" on my MacBook Air HD?

I recently noticed that on my 128GB hardrive on my MacBook Air, there is only about 1.66GB left of space, and that 59.97GB is taken up by "Other". This is really frusturating seeing as I have no idea how to access these files and delete them. I think it might be local back ups from Time Machine, but I have backed up my hardrive to my external drive since i noticed the huge loss of space and I have since then turned off Time Machine but stiill the "Other" is still there. So could someone please help me in figuring out how to get rid of all this excess filler would be fantastic. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me figure this out, its highly appreciated

Local snapshots from Time Machine are in the "backups category".  "Other" is considered a miscelaneous category.  It is made up of everything that doesn't fit in the other, more defined categories.  You don't want to delete everything in there as is contains some important things, such as the operating system, system files, etc.  You can download OmniDiscSweper to find large files.  Also, read these: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/freeingspace.html, http://pondini.org/OSX/DiskSpace.html, http://pondini.org/OSX/LionStorage.html
