  • How can i find the mac address of a brand new iphone 5 since i can't get to the settings screen untill it's signed onto the web

I have a brand new iphone. my home wifi router has a mac filter. I can't use my phone until the wifi is set up but i cant set up my phone until it connects to the internet. is there a way to find the mac addreess without getting to the settings menu?

    It's not on the box.
Try turning off Mac filtering temporarily on your router, finish the setup, then turn it back on. Or use another WiFi hotspot, such as an Apple store or a carrier's store. Or McDonalds. Or Starbucks.

  • TS1702 Why can't I download any apps with my brand new Iphone?

I am new to the Iphone and for the life of me I am not able to download ANY apps to my phone.  I have tried what I think is everything, but I'm sure I am missing something.  I have have changed my setting to try and download off the cellular network, I have tried to download from my home network, I have tried at different locations, and nothing seems to be working.  I have not been able to download anything.

Make sure your wifi is good on another device, go into the App Store app, tap Search to find a specific app, typethe name of the app after touching the text feild at the top, press Search, tap an app, press the button that says FREE or $.99, etc. then press it again to INSTALL. Now you wait for the download to end.
Unfortunately this process maychange this fall when the big App Store renovation hits, of course you have to choose to upgrade (for free). STAY LOYAL ...lol, I creep myslef out sometimes.

Go to the app store and enter podcasts app in the search field. Then tap the app to download. The app says It requires IOS 7. If you have a iPad 1 hopefully a older version is offered.

I can't get the podcast app because I don't have ios7 is there anything I can do?

There are several very good third-party podcast apps you can download from the app store.
Personally, I'm very happy with "DownCast".  I've given up on the apple podcast app, and DownCast seems to do everything I need.  My whole family uses it.

  • How can How can I download the Podcasts app to my ipod touch

I have a iPod Touch with iOS 6.1.3.  The podcast app was not working so I deleted it.  I tried to download/reinstall from iTunes on my PC but it gives an error saying it "requires a newer version of iPod software" (odd since the app was on the device before with the same iOS version).  I also tried going to the iTunes on the device but can't find the app there to down it and the iTunes app keeps crashing.
Is there a version of the Podcast app that works on an iPod Touch?  If so, how can I get it downloaded?

I am having the same issue and it is very aggravating. The only thing I use my Itouch for is podcast and now it is useless, so frustrated at the moment.

  • Can I use the Podcast app like the older iOS 6 Music Player?

I've updated to iOS 7 and iTunes 11.1 and found that things seem drastically different.
How i used to do podcasts:
Subscribe to a podcast in iTunes on my Mac
Sync to iPhone using a cable
    What used to happen:
Podcasts that were selected to sync did if there were unplayed episodes
The Music player would list only those podcasts where there were unplayed episodes
Now things have changed.  I immediately was told that none of my podcasts were playable without the Podcast app.  I downloaded it and installed it.
    What is happening now:
Still subscribing to a podcast in iTunes on my Mac
Sync to iPhone using a cable
Podcasts showing unplayed in iTunes on my Mac = 46
Podcasts showing unplayed in the Podcast app = 57 - the difference appears to be that the podcast app is showing non-downloaded podcasts
Podcast app showing all podcasts whether or not there are any to play.  The list includes podcasts that are not supposed to sync to my phone.
The Podcast listing appears to be in a random order (actual list shown)-
    Apple Keynotes (no episodes)
This week in Photo (8 episodes)
    Jake and Amir (no episodes)
    Podcast Beyond (no episodes)
    Accidental Tech Podcast (no episodes)
    Vector (1 episode)
Podcasts with no new episodes now show a new episode though it looks like the episode is not downloaded
I'm not sure why what is being shown in iTunes is not being shown in the Podcast app.
Is there anyway to get the old behavior using the Podcast app?

Additional information.   Can this be right?
I spoke to Apple support who said that the settings for podcast syncing in iTunes are no longer being used since Apple moved to their Podcast app.
This may explain why I see all 45 podcasts on my iphone when I only have 15 of them set to sync.
She also said that I would need to manually sync listened/unlistened podcasts between my Mac and my mobile devices since podcasts were no longer being synced from iTunes.
    Can anyone verify?

  • 4th gen iPod touch- had to do a restore, and now I can't get the podcasts app back.  I had it before the restore.

I went to sync my iPod to my laptop last night, and it said I had to do a system restore as it couldn't read the contents of my device.  I tried restarting both my iPod and my laptop to see if this maybe fixed the issue, but it did not.  When I restored the iPod, I know my last backup (less than 2 weeks prior) had the Podcasts app, but NOW, it tells me when I tried to both download from previous purchases on my iPod and on my iTunes that I have to have iOS 7.  I've had the app practically since it came out and have had nothing but problems with it, but can't seem to find an app that will connect to my vehicle's system without a wi-fi signal.  Any ideas?  You're supposed to be able to get the compatible download through the previously purchased list.

Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • How can I open the podcast app?

Did anyone know, how to open the podcast app? If I click on a podcast link in a Mail, I can say I will open with the podcast. Its possible to subscribe the podcast, but I can’t open it again.
    I use Android 4.4.2
    Thanks Andy

I agree with Tugasintra entirely. To hide the Podcast app inside the Movies app is very strange at best. I too lost hours trying to find the podcasts that I had previously subscribed to.  Before I found this discussion, which is not yet well indexed by Google, the only way I could access the Podcast app was via the notifications it generated!
Does anyone know how to create a shortcut to the Podcast app?

  • Can I get the free apps made by Apple on iPhone 4 if I restored my phone?

I have my iPhone 4 and then I saw on Apple's website that they will make their apps they made free (some of it may include iPhoto, iMovie, Notes,Garage Band, Pages and Numbers) . But then I found out that only Phones purchased on September 1st 2013 are the ones who can get the free apps. I purchased my phone on January 2013, And I want those apps greatly BADLY but I don't have credit card to purchase it. You think If I restore my phone, I can get those apps for free?

    NO

  • When I open my photos app on my brand new iPhone 4S it's just a black screen. Why is this happening? Can someone please help?

The picture app won't open and when it does it's just a black screen. I have pictures saved buy I can't view them. Please help.

    Try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).
Web links to the user guide came with the iPhone.

  • Since updating iOS yesterday, I can't open the Podcast app.

I updated last night and when I tap on the icon today, the screen goes white for a second and then goes back to the homepage.
    Any suggestions?

What format are these videos in ?
You may have to get a suitable app from the App store.

  • Apps Freezing on brand-new iPhone 4

I have a new (2 mo old) iPhone 4 on Verizon and every day my phone apps freeze up (the phone is stuck in the "thinking" mode but the connection never goes through).  It doesn't matter what apps - from the basic "Weather icon," to games, AppStore, Facebook, etc - and it doesn't matter if the signal strength is perfect, or if I'm connected to WIFI, my apps just stop working.  The only way I've figured out to make them work is to reboot the phone.  I'm at the point now where I have to reboot 3-4x a day and it's getting REALLY annoying.  My phone software is up to date and there's plenty of available GB space on the phone.  (I have maybe 20 different apps installed). Does anyone have any suggestions?  I hate to return my iPhone, but I can't deal with these constant reboots...

You are not the only one with this problem. Just last night I had to reboot my phone 6 times in a row before I could use safari. I bet I reboot at least 15-20 times a day on most days. And there may be a day where everything is smooth sailing. I just don't get it!. I am up to date on all software, I have restored phone, and I still have problems. I am starting to really hate this phone. I haven't had time to take my phone to verizon because I am always working. My wife has an AT&T Iphone 4 and she doesn't have this problem. Heck, it even crashes when I use the camera or text messages. As soon as I open any app it closes it immediately. The I reboot and sometimes it may open it. Multitasking !? Forget it!
Any other suggestions or people with these problems?

  • How can I create a playlist that syncs with my ipod touch 5 that plays both podcasts and music? Before updating to itunes 11 I was able to do it and now it seems that the power is gone. (I do not have the podcast app on my ipod touch 5)

When apple first introduced the podcast app for my iphone I discovered that installing it took away the option to have a playlist (smart playlist or regular) that mixed music, audiobooks and podcasts. I therefore quickly uninstalled it and was happy to have my iOS devices happily mixing music and podcasts.
With the push to itunes 11.1 and iOS 7 on my ipod Touch and ipad mini I no longer have mixed playlists. I do see (according to itunes) that the podcasts are copied to my devices but there doesn't seem any way to play them. Nor do my mixed format playlists contain them.
When combined with the change to the podcast tab in itunes that shows all available by default and doesn't seem to offer any way to Turn it OFF so I can easily see what new unlistened to podcasts exist it seems that the way I got used to using my itunes since my ipod nano first generation has been eliminated. I haven't read why so if someone could point me to their logic on how come I would want the changes they keep trying to force on me I would at least understand their motives.
If no one has a better fix I have discovered that I can declare the podcasts to be audiobooks and get them to play that way. One downside to that approach is that it doesn't clear them out of the podcast folder thanks to the change to the iCloud friendly format or whatever they were hoping for.

And what is the wording of the error message?
