I can't double click in order to open file or folder

Dear apple support team,
I have the problem with open file or folder when using Mountain Lion, I can't open file or folder by double click in it. With Lion i can do it.
Please advice for me, i feel use Mountain Lion is difficult.

Can't double-click on icons to open Photoshop CS4

When I double-click various Photoshop files (.jpg, .tif, etc...) I get the "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file". But they open fine when I go to File>Open. I've changed the extensions to default open with Photoshop but that didn't help. Any easy solutions? THANKS!

Ahhh… well your issue is not related to Photoshop directly then. I suggest you run disk permissions, on your main hard drive - don't worry its a fairly safe activity.

This will do Permissions repair as well as other important maintenance tasks. Good idea to back up first, but these kind of activities on mac are really 99% safe and recommended.
To reset Photoshops preferences hold down Command > alt > shift while starting Photoshop. Sounds like your issue is not going to be sorted by this though

I have some problems with Suite CS6 Master Collection on W7 os.
1. After I installed the Suite CS6 Master Collection the psd file were not associated with software
2. I manually associated psd files to Photoshop software, the classic icon did not appear but appeared icon "Photoshop Plug-In". When we click on file psd, Photoshop starts but not open the file
3. again, if I associate psd file and Photoshop icon, the file opens correctly once, then when I reopen psd file or restart my pc, the icon will automatically return "Photoshop Plug-In" and only open software.
4. I discovered if I don't change associated icon files psd opens correctly.

I have this exact same problem - I use WIN 7 and FF 3.6.13 - no one believes what I am seeing (except you :>) ) - hopefully someone will be able to respond with a solution
I have uninstalled FF and re-installed same problem
The FF WIN 7 taskbar preview shows the correct display and when I click it I get a flash and it appears to go off right side of screen

The only way I have to create an event is by using the "+" button, which is very limiting!
I am running the latest version of Mac OS X and all the updates.
Anyone know how I could get a proper use of my iCal ?

Hi,
If you list the steps you have taken to fix this it will help.
Have you tried using the File > New Event menu item?
Have you logged the user account out/ restarted the computer?
Have you tried un-syncing any accounts synced to Calendar?
Is there some change made to the computer that may have triggered this?

Can't double click and add event in month view. HELP!

For some strange reason, I can't double click to addevent on Ical Monthly view all of a sudden. Whenever I double click, nothing happens. Same thing happens on the year view.
I can only add event now using the stupid + signs, or go into daily or weekly view. HELP!

I have this problem too. Just started today all of a sudden. When I am in iCal on my Macbook, I double click - like I have been doing since ical was invented - and nothing happens, other than a quick "updating" message. I tried clicking the "+" button but all it gives me is "quick event" to add but nothing ever shows up in my iCal calendar on my mac. When I log into to iCal in the Cloud - lo and behold! - I see dozens and dozens of "new event" entries all over my calendar! What is going on and how can this be corrected? At this point my computer's ICal program is basically now useless since I am prevented from adding anything to it.

I can't double click to collapse firefox window into the dock

I'm running OS X with the newest Firefox (the Yahoo Edition.) Suddenly, double clicking in the top of the window no longer collapses it into the dock. I've tried repairing permissions and dumping the Firefox prefs to no avail. I just did a Firefox security update a few days ago and I'm wondering if that has anything to do the problem.

I have this problem too (Mac Firefox 21) but only when using a custom theme. When using the default Firefox appearance, I can still double-click to minimize Firefox to the dock. I wonder if all the other people who've complained of this problem were also using a custom theme?

Also no answer but am having the same problem. All my catalogueing via folders is up in smoke and no external HDs (where I would normally directly store raw footage when importing) showing up on the iMovie interface. It is a pain the arse to go back to the earlier version - why APPLE, pray tell, do you continue to lower expectations user-friendly functions. Shall try the option+open for a library but this too is extremely inconvenient if it works like iPhoto because you have to log out to log in to a new library whereas I just want to be able to see my multiple HDs directly from the iMovie menu and then the folders within folders I have layered in there - to make it easy to FIND STUFF. Wake up Apple, you are NOT meeting your customer's needs or desires.
Thanks to the posters who are helping the rest of us lost in the dark with possible solutions - free fix-its for Apple which they don't deserve.

something like an options/configure button which opens another window and helps us to change tha parameters of that particular
block.

Well, you will need to program your application that way. Maybe I am not understanding this correctly but what parameters do you want to change in your standalone application?

Can you open the application from programs list ?
Also, please verify if the application is installed correctly and if not then probably a re-installation would be required.

. I'm assuming this is not limited to just a few
topics or projects but across the board? From the menu item you
mention you are using a version of RH older than X5 - which is what
I have. Can you ensure that RH is flagged as your default editor.
Try looking at your options. In X5 it's in the HTML Editors
tab.

Can't double click to open PDF files

Within the past two weeks I'm getting this odd error where I can't open a PDF file by double clicking it. I get an error saying "This action is only valid for products that are already installed"
I have Reader 8.1.2. installed. I CAN open a PDF file when I open up Adobe Reader and then browse and select the file from the File Menu. I just can't double click to open any more. Very annoying.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Reader, but I'm getting the same error.
Any help is much appreciated!

Swiping up from the bottom of the screen with four fingers did not bring up the app preview. A single press on the home button still brings me back to the home screen, but a double press of the home button does nothing following updating to 7.1 Given that, when I added a software home button as suggested by DIAVONEX, I found that all of the apps WERE still open! So thank you DIAVONEX, and you should be careful, bobseufert, as your information was inaccurate.( I did try turning it off and that didn't change anything. ) I don't really want a software home button on my screen, but I guess I will use it until either there is another update to resolve this glitch or someone else identifies a quirky setting that I inadvertently activated...

Click on and item to select it and then type (command-O) to open the item. I would check the mouse settings in system preferences to see what the double-click speed is set to maybe it just needs adjusting.
