I can't download Mavericks :-(

So apparently this is a common problem but I can't seem to figure out what to do.
I attempted to download it from the app store yesterday.  There was no download status/progress bar and when I clicked on the "Purchases" button at the top, it showed Mavericks but had a clickable button that said "Download."  I clicked that button.  It changed for a second like it was about to start downloading, but changed abruptly back to the "Download" button again.  So I clicked it again.  And again and again and again.  Still nothing.  So I clicked on the little x to close Mavericks from the status bar thinking I could just re-initiate the download.
So I went to Mavericks in the app store again and I can't download it.  I'll click the "free upgrade" button and it changes to a green "Install app" button and then when I click that nothing happens.  It'll act like it's about to do something and then never does.  I've searched my hard drive for any downloaded files and there is nothing.  I don't have Launchpad for whatever reason so I can't check to see if anything is downloading, but it's been 24 hours so I'd think it would be complete by now anyway if it *was* downloading.
I've tried rebooting and opening and closing the app store, all to no avail.  I also can't find any corner on the internet where I can simply download this file like a normal person instead of having to go through the app store.
Any ideas?

MMMkay so I figured it out.  It's a leetle embarrassing.
Turns out on the dock there was a little Maverick download icon.  (In my defense it was very discreet which is why I missed it.  Darn that sneaky icon.)  The download was paused.  I right-clicked and hit "resume."  I got an error message and canceled the download, then the app store let me re-download.

  • Where can I download Mavericks?

    Hi guys,
Well, lately I have been thinking in upgrading my MacBook Pro mid 2009. I was trying to decide between Mt. Lion and Mavericks, do not know which are the major  differences between these two. But the later is free .
I have already tried the AppStore and obviously did not find it there as Yosemite is the new thing, I also tried the Up-to-Date Program but it says they have nothing for my system.
I don't want Yosemite mainly because I have read so many reviews about how bad it is and that still has many bugs.Plus the performance is slower than the other OS, and considering that I do not have a new mac I believe Mavericks would do the job for me.
I use this mac as my main laptop which is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and would like to download Mavericks and create a new partition for Mavericks and used for programming as SL does't convince me for that purpose. I use CodeBlocks because Eclipse wouldn't get installed as it needs Mt. Lion.
So, is there any way I can still download Mavericks?
Is an mid 2009 MBP running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with 8 gb of RAM and a solid state drive.
In advance, thank you for your help.

Unless you downloaded the full Mavericks installer before Yosemite came out, you can't get it. If you did, log into the Mac App Store with the Apple ID you used and click on the Purchases tab.

  • Can't download Mavericks at App Store

I can't download Mavericks at App Store: it says that it requires at least 2GB of memory but I still have 144GB free in my Mac.

The 144GB free is space on your hard drive.
The 2GB minimum memory requirement refers to RAM : If you clcik the Apple menu at top left of your screen, then choose About This Mac : you should see how much memory (RAM) is installed.
See http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Apple_Upgrade_Guide/Model_ID_iMac to find out how much memory can be installed on your model.

You'll be given the option to change the target after the download is complete and before the actual installation begins. The process is otherwise the same as normal.

  • I can't download Mavericks from the Mac App Store

I can't download Mavericks, I don't know if the Apple's server are full but Mac App Store show me an error when I try to upgrade my MacbookPro Retina, just sometimes the download starts and It stops at 358 mg and after it give me the error.
How I can solve the problem ?

Thanks for the link, Niel.  I'm kind of disappointed with Apple that they're making us buy an upgrade to her OS to get all of her Apple products to work together.  It seems weird that we could have any old Windows machine and this would work great, but the fact that she has a MacBook is screwing this up.

    Why i can't download Mavericks if i have a macbook a1181 2008 with Lion 10.7.5?

A1181 refers to the generation of white and black thermoplastic MacBooks originally introduced in 2006 and produced through mid 2008.

  • Still can't download Mavericks?

I've been trying to download the new update since it came out but I still can't get it. It always gets stuck at 995 or 996 MB and it says 'Calculating' for the predicted time, eventually it says it fails to download. Any help?

First read Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
    Open the Mac App Store.
From the Store menu, choose Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Click Purchases to get to your Purchases Page.
Click the Resume button next to the app name.
Also read: Troubleshooting the Mac App Store
If that does not help try the following:
Sign out of the App Store, then quit the App Store.
Select (triple-click to select the entire line), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears select Services > Reveal in Finder:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
Drag the highlighted file to the Desktop.
Repeat with the following two lines
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.storeagent
Open the App Store again, select the Purchases list, sign in, and attempt to download Mavericks again.

  • Where Can I Download Mavericks, Now That Yosemite Is Out?

I want to download and install OS X Mavericks, but since OS X Yosemite came out, Mavericks is no longer available on the Mac App Store.
    Suggestions?

It seems to me that those of us that want Mavericks will have to work together to get it done. Basically, you have to know someone who has EVER downloaded Mavericks on one of their computers. That person can log on to your computer and let you legally download a copy of Mavericks. Said person would stay log enough for download. What I do not know yet is if that same person would have to be present to log in somehow later once the erase and write to Mavericks was done.  I am one of the unfortunate Apple users who ended up with several log-ins, so I thought I could not go back to Mavericks. I logged in differently and I DO have Mavericks in my purchase history. I will be erasing my computer and reinstalling Mavericks from a thumb drive. I will come back and let you know if it required my log in. If it does not, then it's a matter of those of us who have Mavericks being willing to meet random people in coffee shops near us to help them out. If anyone is in the Oklahoma area, I live in Edmond, OK. I would be willing to meet you and your poor laptop to sign and get you Mavericks (if I don't have to stay past logging out of your app store when download is done).

  • HT201364 Can't download Mavericks installer on recent Mac. "OS Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer", which is running 9.1.

I want to download the Mavericks installer so I have a backup installer that does not require the internet.  Although, the App Store button allows me to download, I get a message that Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer.
Computer is late 2013 retina MBP 13" with lots of memory.
My OS is 10.9.1 (13B3116) currently running.
Is the App Store version of Mavericks too old (jan 16) for my rMBP?
    Rick

Judging by the build number, it appears you have a special build of Mavericks installed and the App Store version (13B42) won't work with your computer.
Kappy - if I try to download Mavericks I get the message below, so apparently I can down load it again?
I also have a copy of the installer in my Applications folder, although it is in a folder.

  • Can I download Mavericks installer from a machine that requires Yosemite?

I would like to download the OS X Mavericks installer, but the only Mac I can currently connect to the Internet is too new to support Mavericks, so it tells me I can't even download it. I am trying to acquire it to prepare bootable install media for a machine which is without Internet access.

No. Mavericks is no longer available for download or purchase. Even were you to get Mavericks you cannot install it on a model that requires Yosemite or later.
The machine without Internet access would not be able to download Mavericks either.
