I can't download my purchases

I received an error message when trying to download my recent purchase, "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID" You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days.  This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 53 days"
I just got this about 10 minutes ago.  I've never downloaded anything to the computer before using iTunes, pretty much.  The last time I actually downloaded something was a couple of years ago.  A podcast.  Why do I have to wait? Why am I even receiving this message?  It was a season of a TV show so there are a bunch of episodes bundled in, so I chose the option when first purchasing this to download later so I can pick the actual episode of the batch that I wanted.  When I tried, I got the above message.  What should I do?
I am currently living in Japan and I do have a Japanese iTunes account and my original US one.  This computer is authorized to use both.  When I made the purchase, I was using my US account, which is the one I generally always use.  Like on my iPhone, I use my US accounts and have some apps and games downloaded onto it.  This actually cost me cash this time, so it's a bother that I can't download what I purchased.

Finally got my songs downloaded by trying various things i seen on here.
Reset my winsock thing in command prompt, deleted & re-installed itunes and hey presto.
Thanks for the helpfull info throughout here

  • Can't download song purchased from Itunes from one computer to another using same Apple ID

Hi, I am operating itunes 11 at home, using Mac OS 10.7.5.. I purchased a song at work (also a Mac, I am not sure which version of OSM or itunes). I accessed the purchase of the song in the "Purchased" menu option in itunes on my home Mac. When I tried to download the song at home so I can include it in my Library, I got the following message:
This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days.
So: just to be clear:I can only buy something from  itunes from one computer and save to another with the  same Apple ID only every 90 days??? And if that is the case, I have not purchased anything from my work computer within 90 days of this recent song  purchase. That just does not make sense to me, since the license covers 10 devices anyway, and I am using the same Apple ID.
Let me know if I am not understanding this correctly, or am doing something wrong. It just does make not sense to me that I can't download a purchase I made from one computer to another since I am paying Apple for the music and just accessing it elsewhere, using the same account.
    Thanks so much.

Thanks for the response. Yes, my husband logged on to our computer and rented a movie for us to view. That is how we use Itunes: I purchase the music, he may purchase a movie or a rental now and then. This is new, it never happend before.
Also, I contacted customer support, both by phone and email. Not only does someone else using the home computer under a different account trigger this, but so does simply activating my own user id from a different computer (one of the 5 I am allowed to under the service agreement.)
Customer support was very helpful and lifted the 90 day ban. I called them because I purchased a season pass of a TV show and could not download the first episode because it was a "past purchase" (the episode was not even available to download when I purchased the pass, so “past” is indeed relevant.)
But I don't see the point of purchasing content from Apple now. This feature limits the accessibility of legal purchases under the service agreement.  Why allow 5 computers per Apple ID if activating one of them limits the ability to download content for 90 days??
I (used to) buy movies, rentals and TV shows all the time. I don’t have cable, so Apple was the source for all “must have” shows that I couldn’t wait for. Too bad.

How many devices can I download a purchased app to?

Isn't that the same thing?  You're allowed to associate up to 10 devices with the Apple ID on the iTunes account....but are you saying that the limitation is only for music - not apps?

How can I download all purchased content before changing my info account?

You can always setup your GMail account on your Mac as a POP3 account, and then flag GMail to mark all messages new.  The next mail check would cause your mail app to download all the messages on teh GMail server to your mail client.  Once they are in your mail client, you manage them locally in there, and it won't matter if the GMail host account goes away or not, because POP3 works with the local data once it is downloaded form the server.
Be advised that doing this can cause you to redownload thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of emails depending upon your email volume and how long you have been using GMail.  If I do this, my GMail wants to re-send close to 6GB of data to me again because I have been using GMail for about as long as it has existed, and I average 100-200 emails a day on that account.

How can I download a purchased ringtone so that it appears in the sounds column for the alarm clock sound

Welcome to the Apple Community Elizabeth.
You should be able to access any book you have purchased from iTunes anywhere.
Do you have settings > iBooks > Show all purchases turned on.

  • HT201272 how can I download previoulsy purchased audiobooks?

I am trying to download a previously purchased audiobook but I can't find the way to do it.

If you buy an audiobook on CD you'll find it needs some effort to get it organized to play on Apple device. See Audiobooks on iPod for details.
Audiobooks purchased from the iTunes Store should be packaged as a single chapterized file that works better on Apple devices. At the present time you are only allowed one download of any audiobook, but you can backup those files just as you would any other.
Even though you can repeat download certain purchased content you should really backup your iTunes library regularly to avoid having to redo any work you've put into organizing your library along with ratings, playlists, and any media you can't download again. For a suggested strategy see this user tip.

Can't download a purchased movie from the cloud or watch trailers in iTunes movies

    Hello Addymay2,
I would recommend signing out of your Apple ID in Settings -> iTunes and App Stores. After this, close all open apps and restart your device. Once your iPad is powered back up, sign back into your Apple ID in Settings -> iTunes and App Stores.
iOS: Sign in with a different Apple ID in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
iOS: Force an app to close

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

  • I can't download my purchase I made in iTunes

I can't download my purchase I made in iTunes. It shows "purchased" but it won't let me download it. Anyone has any suggestions?

If you go to your library, do you see any of the items already in there? It will not allow you to redownload them if they are already there, so that could be one possibility.
Also, have you authorized your computer? Go to the Store drop down menu (if you are on Windows and do not see it, click the ALT button 1 time to bring it back), then choose Authorize this computer and sign in.
Or if this all fails, and you do not have them on your computer already in your iTunes library, I would recommend going to the Store menu, choosing to Sign Out. Then simply signing back in.
But of course ensure that you are following the proper procecedure to redownload purchases, which you can find here --> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Also do you just not see the Cloud download button, or are you getting an error?

The "More" tab on my itunes store won't load on my iPhone. I am on wifi and everything else is working fine. It has been happening a while now so I can't download my Purchased songs. Anybody else have this problem?

In iTunes on your computer, go to Store > Authorize This Computer from iTunes' menu.  Have your dad (or you, if you know it) enter his Apple ID and password.  Then sync again.

  • Can't download previously purchased music to new iPad "Associated with another Apple ID"

    Hi There,
I have a brand new iPad Air and can see my previous purchases in the Music app. But when I try to download (by clicking the download/cloud icon) I get a confusing error:
"This device is already associated with an Apple ID".
The thing is, this is a brand new device - how could it be associated with another Apple ID?
The only other Apple ID on the device is the one used for iCloud - could this be confusing things?
Does anyone know how to get music onto the device?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

    Thanks Amish,
Dang it, I accidently marked your question as the answer from the email notifcation and can't change it.
I purchased it from Apple and have been in contact with them for over a week. Unfortuantely, they insist I'm logged in using differnt accounts despite me sending screen shots to the contrary.
I'm posting here becauase I'm getting nowhere with Apple - it's like they're stonewalling or the person I'm dealing with (Russ) is assuming I'm an idiot.
I've been using Apple products for 25 years, look after an OSX server (have also maintained a Microsoft SBS server) so am quite familiar with computers and user accounts.
But this situation has me stmped - both in terms of why it doesn't work, and why I can't get Russ to understand that I'm not logged in using a different Apple ID.
He keeps senindg me links to iTunes terms and conditions - I can't listen to music purchased from Apple on my Apple dvices also purchased from Apple. How can iTunes Ts & Cs justify that?
I've decided to a go a differnt route and report a problem via iTunes and see if I get a more helpful support guy.

  • Can I download previous purchases on a new device with a different Apple ID?

My daugther got an iPad mini for Christmas and setup her own Apple ID. Prior to this everything we bought went through my account. She wants to download the music that is on my account but I am telling her she can't because she has a different Apple ID.
She told me that last night she went to a friends house, had her friend login to her Apple account and downloaded some of her songs and then signed back into her account and said I can just do the same thing. Is this really possible? If it's not, how did she get her friends music on her iPad?

    Not exactly:
when you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID.
Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days.
Note: Removing a device from your Apple ID does not override the 90 day timer. The timer must complete 90 days from the day the device was associated before it can be associated to another Apple ID.
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
In other words, she won't be able to associate the device with her new apple ID for 3 months if you download past purchases on it with yours even if you subsequently dissassociate the device afterwards.

  • How many times can you download a purchased tune from iTunes?

I am in the process of cleaning up my itunes. I am deleting duplicates. I find that I have duplicates of purchased tunes. Don't know how this even happens but now that I've put 700 duplicates in the wastebasket, I find a lot of purchased tunes gone from the library. The view in the trash does not include artists name so if you don't know the specific name of each song, ouch! My thinking was that if I could redownload tunes that I purchased already from Itunes, I could save my self a lot of work. Any help would be appreciate guys.

+When you buy a song, video, iPod Game, or album from the iTunes Store you are entitled to download it a single time. If you want to download it again, you must purchase it again. You can copy downloaded content between authorized computers.+
+Important: Make a backup of the content you purchase. In case of data loss, including hard drive failure or replacement, accidental deletion, and so forth, you'll be able to restore it from the backup. See How to back up your media in iTunes for instructions.+

  • Can't download my purchased copy of Elements 12

I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 on Dec 23, 2013. Adobe later offered an update to version 12.1.  I installed the update.
I just bought a new computer running Windows 7, and I would like to download and install the Photoshop Elements that I had purchased.
According to the Help in Photoshop Elements 12, I had to uninstall Photoshop Elements 12 on my old computer.  I did this.  During the uninstall a check box is supposed to appear that says something like "Deactivate product".  No such checkbox appeared during the uninstall.
I have signed in to my account on the Adobe website several times.  It lists my purchased copy of Elements 12 but will not allow me to download it to my new computer.
Not only will Adobe not allow phone tech support for Elements 12 owners, but they won't allow me to computer chat with support.
Is there any way to contact Adobe support?
How can I download and install my purchased copy of Photoshop Elements 12 onto my new computer?

Deactivate is for PSE11 and earlier. In PSE12 you use the Help> Sign Out menu. There should be nothing to stop you downloading the software as many times as you want, maybe it is a problem with the servers. Instead of downloading from your 'My Adobe A/c' download the trial instead - it is identical.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements&loc=en
PSE12 allows you to install on as many computers as you have -  even dozens or hundreds. but only two can ever be signed in and activated at any one time.
