I can't download songs onto my Ipod it's not even showing in Itunes

"Well.... I was on the computer in my first period class. I was charging it. The comp comes with Itunes based because it's a Mac. So yeah i let it charge and pulled it from the USB port... and 10 mins later I go through my Ipod all my songs were gone!! And I don't know why!! WHY!??! lol I was soooooooo sad. And, my friends think since that my Ipod has automatic update it uploaded nothing but the emptiness of the Itunes on the school computer. Someone tell me why lol. I think that my songs could just be hiding I am hoping they are. I payed 50 bucks in downloads soo.... hopefully all of the songs are on my computer at home." that was an earlier post
Why isn't it showing up?? Why isn't it showing up now? I just want to re-download it back on my Ipod

Hi thomas-paton,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with the most recent iTunes update. If you are having issues dragging individual files to your iPod nano when connected in iTunes, you may want to make sure that the "Manually manage music and videos" option is selected, as outlined in the following article:

  • Can't Download Songs Onto New Ipod Nano

I have had Itunes on my computer for 1-2 years and use it with my Ipod Shuffle & my brother's Ipod Mini & have no problems. I just bought an Ipod Nano & am having trouble with it. The instruction manual I received with it does not help me @ all. I received one CD with it & ran the only setup file from the CD that I could fine & it acted like it installed ok.
I updated Itunes today to the latest version.
When I plug the nano up to my computer using the USB cable, it shows on the ipod screen that it is connected, and a box pops up on my computer that asks me what I want to do, but it does not give me an option to open Itunes.
When I open Itunes manually (with the nano connected), it shows no recognition of the nano.
I tried to drag songs directly to the nano file (under the "E" drive) & the computer showed the songs downloaded under the file, but the nano still showed no songs on it.
Any Suggestions???!! I'm lost..Thanks so much!!

hi...convert your cd songs the format itunes for ipod is using..it should do the trick...mp3's are also supported aside from m4a.

  • I can't load songs onto my iPod nano after updating to the latest iTunes!

It just won't let me drag and drop songs like I used to be able to and when I go into the other option it tries to syc the whole library and delete what I've already got on it and I don't want to do that.

  • Can't download songs onto shuffle

    Hi,
got a shuffle a few months ago as a gift, and am just now getting around to setting it up - so of course the 90 day help period is expired. itunes sets up fine, but when I try to download songs onto the shuffle, it give an error message "disk cannot be read from or written to"; then "disk write error". I have deleted and re-installed itunes and ipod, and done the ipod update - no help, still won't work.
Also the shuffle does that green/yellow light blinking thing when I turn it on - because no songs on it?
    Please help!!!
    Briar

You're right about the "I'm empty" signal. As for the rest, start by going through the contents of the iPod Shuffle Support Page, paying particular attention to troubleshooting recommended when " ...disk cannot be read from or written to"; then "disk write error" ......".

  • I Can't Put Songs Onto My iPod Touch!

whenever i go onto iTunes and try to put songs onto my iPod using the click and drag method i get this message - 'the iPod "George's iPod" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to'. What can i do? Please, anyone, even a guess will do...
By the way i have the latest version of iTunes and the latest system thing on my Touch.

I have seen this article listed on many requests for help. I have tried these fixes but the iTouch will get about 200 songs into the sync and then will give the same message. I have successfully synced the iTouch to my laptop (Vista system)but that is not the primary computer for the touch. Are there any other ideas/solutions?

  • Can't download apps onto my iPod touch?

When I try to download apps onto my iPod touch, it gives me a message that says I need to verify the account and billing information, which I have done, but it still won't let me get anything, it says I need to log into my account then sends me back into the app store to log in, but after I type it in and go to log in, it is stuck at a grey loading screen and asks me to log in again, non-stop. Is there any fix for this?

    - Try resetting your iPod,. A long shot but you loose nothing.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Contact iTunes:

  • I Can't Put Songs Onto My iPod

Hey, I have 697 songs currently on my library, when I connect my iPod to the computer it says it's retrieving less songs than that, say 200 for example, which it doesn't do anyway. It just sits there not putting any songs onto my iPod and then comes up with a message that it doesn't work. Please someone help this is getting very annoying!

How about the problems in iTunes 5? Are they better now?
    hello Mr Bond!
apologies for the late reply ... during the early weeks of the 5.0x launches, my email went down and i wasn't getting any notification of replies to my posts. at that stage, i was pretty much trapped in "Installations & Upgrades" so i couldn't get out to my other favorite forums to check for replies to any of my posts ... i'm currently working through a backlog of 500 unanswered email notifications, saw your post, and decided to take the opportunity to have a chat.
update from our last communications. traffic levels are certainly down in Installations and Upgrades. our primary concerns over there at the moment are probably the nastier versions of the QuickTime 1402, and the newer variations on "the software required for communicating ..." and "Ipod Service Error". I'm taking this (in a perverse way) as a good sign. these were rarer sorts of errors at the height of the madness. so when the discussions are being dominated by the rarer sorts of errors, it suggests we've got a good handle on the other 5.0.x installation problems.
the "general mood" of the forum is still a little more bitter than in the 4.9 days. but it has improved considerably over the past couple of weeks. (however, giving helpful and descriptive titles to posts and threads still seems to be a lost art over there ... i'm not entirely sure why.)
i am hoping that i shall
    b not
exceed your tally of posts any time soon. i actually find it a little disturbing that i have passed both Buegie and StarDeb recently. back in my early days of posting, i used to wonder "how on earth does anyone accumulate 4000 posts?" ...
    love, b

  • I can't download WMA onto my iPOD nano

How do I transfer, from OverDrive Media Console, WMA audio books onto my iPOD nano?

If you are running windows 8 like I am then here is how I solved my headache....(after 8 months of trying everything short of shooting my computer!!)... download the desktop version of overdrive media console (not the omc for windows 8--it only does mp3)..then set ipod compatability for windows 7.  It also helped to set the spoken voice audio to podcast...sped things up alot.  I got rid of my omc for windows 8....too many headaches.  Also, make sure you are running the latest version of itunes and overdrive.  hope this helps.

Unfortunately discussing this subject is not permitted on Apple's forums as the recently updated Apple Discussions User Agreement now clearly states.
Under item 2, para 8.2 it says "Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store."

  • Downloaded songs on my ipod touch does not sync into my library

When i download songs or music videos directly on my ipod touch from the itunes store it does not sync into my library when i plug the ipod into my computer. Although they do show up on My Device when i have connected to computer. but not in library. I tried to drag into library and or playlist but no luck there either. But the apps i downloaded did transfer to my library.I do not have my ipod set up to auto sync .But thought i could do it manually by dragging.Help would greatly be appreciated.

Dragging won't work, but you should be able to click on the device, then choose File>Transfer Purchases, and see your music and videos on the computer.

  • How can I upload songs to my ipod without formatting it on a new itunes?

I had my ipod touch connected to my old computer on itunes, but the computer went down and i cant access it anymore. I connected my ipod to my new computer and new itunes but it says it needs to be formatted and erase all songs on it so it can connect to the itunes. Is there a way i can use my new itunes, but keep all my old songs on my ipod? I have too many to erase them all.

It's very easy to backup media... you simply backup the computer.
Choosing to not backup the computer is rather ignorant.  All it takes is a power surge, hard drive failure, natural disaster, computer virus, or theft and all your important media and files are gone.
Most Operating Systems have backup solutions included, it's simply up to the user to provide a place for it to backup (i.e external hard drive) there are also options to backup to a web based service.
As for the iPhone and iTunes not being user friendly, I'd seriously disagree with you on that statement.  Ultimately it's up to you, but I think after a little hassle with another mp3 player and trying to manage it via other software you'll agree as well.

  • HT201269 how can I upload songs from my iPod shuffle to a new laptop with iTunes?

Previous desktop crashed & replaced with a new laptop, so unable to backup my iPod shuffle to iTunes.  When I try to sync the iPod to the new iTunes library, it wants to erase the iPod completely and load the songs from the iTunes library on the new laptop.  How can I transfer songs from iPod shuffl into the new iTunes library without losing everything?

The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases - File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back
