I cannot seem to download the extended instruments in garageband despite having suffiecient funds on my itunes account to pay for it.

Make sure your payment method is accepted > iTunes Store / Mac App Store: Accepted forms of payment

I have redeemed an itunes card and currently have $15 on my account. It is my understanding that when I make purchases at the itunes store, this amount will be credited automatically until the amount is back to 0 and then billing would go back to my other payment method (paypal or credit card). If you are in Canada and you purchase Apps from the App store, iTunes will only charge your CC.
You cannot use gift card amounts to purcahse Apps.

Thanks for the question. Connecting your iTunes Store and Disney Movies Anywhere accounts should sync all of your eligible Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies between both services. After connecting your accounts, you can check your purchased history in the iTunes Store:

Got exact same problem, was told to delete all old apple, quick time and bonjoir from computer then it would work. I use a programme called malware bytes and this takes everthing out of your computer right down to the roots but unfortunately I still have same problem

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

If you bought an Apple gift card, then you cannot use it in the iTunes store. You can only use it in the Apple store for hardware.
You would need an iTunes gift card to buy anything in iTunes

What error screen are you getting, and how are you trying to download the update, within iTunes or via a browser ?
You should be able to download the latest version of iTunes on your computer within iTunes :
On a Mac in iTunes : iTunes > Check For Updates
On a PC : Help > Check For Updates
Or you can download the current version of iTunes from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

You need to buy Mac OS X 10.5 if you have a G4 or G5 Mac, Mac OS X 10.6 if you have an Intel Mac, or a new Mac if you're using a G3.

I may have had the same issue, maybe! I was prompted to update my iTunes. I did, like I usually do when I am prompted. Never had a problem until now. It would not complete the install. Something like this happened to me, where something went wrong on Apple's end and a movie I rented wouldn't play. I contacted Apple over the phone and they gave me back my money and fixed the problem for future use.

Why can you not login into the account ? You should be able to if you remember the account's password, if you can't then you can get it reset e.g. by answering your account's security questions : http://iforgot.apple.com
If you can't reset it via your security questions then contact Support in your country, they should be able to reset your password (and security questions) for you (after they've verified your id and that it's your account).
