I can't drop anything into iCloud on my iMas OS 10.7.3

Why can't I drop documents into cloud on my iMac 10.7 when it in sync with my iPad 2 and MacBook Pro and I have no trouble dropping files on either of those devices?

What kind of documents are you trying to drag into iCloud? There are only a few file types that you can copy, like the iWorks formats for example. Copying files via iTunes will allow for any file type that individual apps are compatible with. That is not the case with iCloud.

I can't put anything into trash no permission

I turned on my old mini for the first time in over a year and can't move anything into the trash. First finder asks for a password which I give then trash won't let me. Says "cannot complete because you don't have permission to access some of the items". I went to trash>file>get info and nothing was in the read/write pull down so I pulled down my name which is an administrator, clicked it and got "could not complete an unexpected error occurred. Error message 136". Can anyone explain what the heck is going on?

Hi, it sounds like you may have many problems, & it may take awile to work through them, but the new Forum SW doesn't make it easy.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
On that error... Error message 136, could it have been -36?

Not very helpful, but generally means a Drive quit being Readable or Writable since starting the operation, which is not a good sign... do you have a current Backup?

Can't drop movie into iTunes

I have a AVI-movie. The video track is "Generic MPEG-4" and the sound track is "ATSC A/52 and AC-3 Decoder".
I can play the file with QuickTime-Player but can't drop it into iTunes library.
Whats wrong?

Video files MUST be in the right format to be used on video and iphone devices.
I was only able to get a few videos myself onto my player.

You can achieve this from an iOS device, by simply dragging one document on to another to create a folder into which they are both placed. After doing this, you can then rename the folder to the name of your choosing.

The most common cause at the moment is a repaired or refurbished Mac missing the serial number on the Logic board.
Use the Apple Icon Menu > About this Mac.
Near the top is the current OS version listed
Click this line twice (Once to Build number and again to Serial number)
If it is missing you need and Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider to sort this for you.

Can't log in into iCloud because of change of email

Hello. I'm wondering if I'm now stuck with iCloud. My email that I used with Apple got hacked a long time ago, and I barely changed the Apple ID. I thought it had updated on the iPhone, but apparently it didn't. It's asking me to log in into iCloud, but it shows the OLD Apple ID. When I put the password it doesn't accept it, and I can't log out because it asks for the password. What can I do? The weird thing is that when I log in into icloud.com, and click play sound on the iPhone it DOES play the sound. What can I do?

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

After successfully changing my Apple ID and password on my MacBookPro, I can no longer connect with iCloud on my iPad2 or iPhone 4. Both devices have the latest OS updates, although the MBP is 10.5.8. When attempting to connect with iCloud, Settings has my old ID, and won't allow me to change it mnually.

Well, first of all, your MBP can't work with iCloud, you need Lion (10.7) to do that. So it shouldn't matter what you did on your laptop.
There may be some confusion here. There is the Apple ID that your iTunes uses to buy things at the app store as well as songs and video. Then there's there ID used for iCloud. They are not necessarily the same. When you say you changed the Apple ID and password on the MBP, that was for iTunes (since it can't use iCloud). Or did you access iCloud with a browser and change things that way?

I don't have any subscriptions, and you can't pull free news apps onto the newsstand either.

Newsstand isn't an app, it's actually a specialized folder, so you can't drag it into another folder. Only newsapps designed to work with Newsstand appear in the Newsstand folder. That happens automatically when you install a Newsstand-compliant news app, or when one of your existing news apps is updated to work with Newsstand.

When I drop anything into the timeline I have to render it to view it.

I am working with 2 sequences in one project. In one sequence I can drop images, video clips, text onto the timeline and I can view it, showing a green line. No problem. I switch to the other sequence and every time I do anything to the timeline I have a red line and have to render each and ever clip to review the work I just did. I don't understand why the two are different. Any suggestions? Thanx

Shane's Stock Answer #28: When I put a clip in the timline, I have to render it before it will play. Why?
Your clip settings MUST match your timeline settings. If you have DV/NTSC material, you need a DV/NTSC timeline. The frame rate, audio rate and dimensions (4:3, 16:9) all need to match exactly. In Final Cut Pro 6, this is easy, because when you drop a clip into the timeline, it asks if you want to set up the timeline to match the settings of the first clip you drag into it. Click YES and you are ready to go.
However, in FCP 5.1 and earlier, it is a bit trickier.
The most important thing you need to do is properly set up your project from the start, and the best way to do this is to choose a setting from the Easy Setups, located under the Final Cut Pro menu.
Once you do this, you’ll need to create a new sequence. This is because the sequence that is already in your new project is setup for the typical default setting of DV/NTSC, or for the settings of your last project, which might not match what you are currently working with. So delete SEQUENCE 1 and create a new sequence:
This new sequence will contain the settings you chose in the Easy Setup menu, and should match the format you captured.
