I can't eject dvd from imac 27

i cant eject dvd from imac 27 some tips please

Restart and hold down a mouse button. That signals the system to force eject any disc in the drive. If that doesn't work then the drive might of failed or at least the eject motor of the drive.

  • Can manually eject disk from iMac? iMac won't start up. . .

My iMac started acting up, as if a keyboard key was stuck and it kept scrolling through menu items; so I logged out all users and restarted. I get the grey screen with the Apple logo and timer, then it goes to the blue background/Mac OS X screen but the blue progress bar never fills in.
I can't start up from the OS X disk because there's already a disk in there. Anyone know how to manually get a disk out? I'm sure this is on Apple's support page, but it's currently down for maintenence.
We do have an external, USB bluetooth for a bluetooth Apple keyboard and a Microsoft bluetooth mouse; and at first I thought it was the bluetooth that was freaking out.
I know this is a pretty vague problem, but any others out there with a similar experience? Or can troubleshoot this one? Thanks!

    haythere-
It sounds like it could be the keyboard. have you replaced the batteries lately?
I know that if you hold down the mouse button of a wired mouse at power up it should eject the disc. That might work with the bluetooth mouse.
When it comes back up, this link for troubleshooting CD/DVD eject failures should be helpful.

  • Ejecting DVD from iMac Core Duo when there is no OSX system on the HD

I used the Install DVD to erase the HD prior to disposal.  As there is now no OSX system on the HD I can not eject the DVD.  I've tried Disk Util off the DVD and Terminal but nothing works.
Any other ideas other than installing a limited OSX to eject the DVD.

iMac was Snow lepoard now empy

Many thanks it worked.  I had to plug the mouse in the back of the iMac and not in the keyboard.

  • HT3231 Can i migrate keynotes from iMac to Macbook Pro?

Can I migrate Keynotes from iMac to Macbook Pro?

Do you mean the program itself? If so then if it was bought from the Mac App Store just logon to the MAS with the same Apple ID you used when you bought it and redownload and install on the new Mac.
If it was bought on DVD then get that DVD out and install in on the new Mac then run Software Update to bring it up to its most current version.
If you mean the Keynotes you created then just copy them over your LAN from one Mac to the other.

  • Can Airdrop move Contacts from iMac to MacBook Air?

Can Airdrop move Contacts from iMac to MacBook Air?

Yes and no. AirDrop is used to send a file from one computer to another. A Contact isn't a file so AirDrop isn't the best way to move contacts from one computer to another. If you own both an iMac and MBA and want to keep the two computers synced, the easiest way is to create an iCloud account on both computers. Any calendar event, to do, contact, or note you create on one will sync to the other. If you just bought a MBA and want to move data to it from your iMac you should use Apple's migration assistant. Personally I think the easiest way to migrate is to perform a backup of the old computer to a USB external drive using TimeMachine and then connect the TimeMachine to the new computer and use Migration Assistant.
But can you exchange contacts using AirDrop? Yes. Select the contact(s) you want to transfer, export them as vcards to a temporary folder. Then AirDrop the folder to your MBA. Now run Contacts and then drag the vcards onto the Contacts program icon in the Dock.

what application do i put on my iphone so i can download my dvds from home onto the phone?

You cannot copy commercially issued DVDs into iTunes, an iPhone or anywhere else: they have protection to prevent this. Even if there are methods to circumvent this we are not allowed to discuss them in this forum because it constitutes a breach of copyright.

Does adobe have a product that can burn a dvd from an iso image?
(The ISO image is not video, it is software).
    and
Does adobe have a way to mount an ISO image to a virtual drive?
    (Again not video)
I have encore, but have never used it. Im not sure what it does.
I assume it deals with dvd video but maybe it can handle ISO images.

  • Can I load photos from iMac onto iPad2 model A1395?

Can I load photos from iMac onto iPad2 model A1395?  The model A1395 is described as "wi-fi only" and has a 30 pin connector for charging.
[By contrast, this is NOT the iPad2 model A1396, which is described as "Wi-Fi/GMS/GPS AT&T" or the Model A1397, which is described as "Wi-Fi/CDMA/GPS Verizon". Nor is it the model A1337, described as "Wi-Fi/3G/GPS (Original)".]
Wi-Fi only seems to me to have an ominous ring to it.  I am synching with my iPhone through the iCloud, if that is of any use.
In addition, I should note that the photo files I want to look at in the iPad are large files, a little over 100 MB in JPEG format.  The desire is to display the whole image (these are archival photos of heirloom quilts) and then be able to focus in on specific details (by enlrging them so that the stitching and other details can be seen).  I mention this because I tthink there may be some 30 MB limit on the size of a file that the iPAD can handle.  Would I be able to examine a larger file (but perhaps npot as large as 100 MB) if I had 64 MB memory in the iPad?

WiFi only refers to the fact that the iPad connects to the Internet via WiFi because it does not have cellular capability. That has nothing to do with the ability to put photos on the device.
Sync the photos from the Mac via iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Select the folder from which your photos are located in the Sync Photos From Heading. If you use iPhoto - select that or navigate to the specific photos folder on the Mac.
If you use iPhoto, select all of the albums, or events that you want to sync. If you use another photos folder, you can select one level of sub folders within that main folder.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
Having 64GB of storage also has nothing to do with the ability to view the photos on the iPad since that refers to storage capacity. However, the larger the storage capacity, the more photos the iPad will be able to hold.
I know of no limit on the size that a photo needs to be in order to be viewable on the iPad.
If you use iCloud, you can sync photos that you shoot on the iPd and iPhone across devices via Photo Stream, but it just be turned on for this to work. Settings>iCloud>Photo Stream on. Any photos that you take on one device after photo stream is turned on, will sync to the other device.

  • I can't eject DVD

I edited a project on Final Cut Express. I used iDVD to burn the project. I inserted the DVD into another iMac. The DVD did not start. I did not even get an icon on the desktop. And I cannot eject the DVD. I tried the solutions listed below which I found in another post. They did not work. Any suggestions?
    Resolution
Important: Make sure the disc is not in use. Quit all applications that are using files on the disc.
    1. Place the computer in sleep mode.
    2. Press the Media Eject key at the top-right corner of the keyboard.
    3. If that doesn't work, drag the disc's icon to the Trash.
    4. If that doesn't work, restart the computer, then hold down the mouse button.
    5. To restart, choose Restart from the Apple menu.

You don't say if the disc is a plain DVD or whether the DVD has a label stuck on it.
What I think I would try if all the stuff you list has failed to fix the problem will be to try starting up in 'Safe Mode'.
To do this, restart the Mac whilst holding down the 'Shift' key until you see the spinning asterisk. When booted the Mac should display the words 'Safe Mode' at the top of the Accounts menu.
It may take a while longer than usual to get to the Accounts Menu because the Mac does a few checks and things, so I understand. This may clear something. When still in Safe Mode it might a good idea to run Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Try the 'Eject' button on the keyboard again.
If that doesn't work, restart again - holding down the Mouse button again if you wish.
If that fails, and especially if you have used a DVD with a home made label on it, I would suggest taking the computer your nearest Apple Dealer to see if one of their Geniuses can extract your DVD for you.

  • Can't eject DVD - "device is busy"

I'm attempting to install the Orange Box in Wine. It finished with disc 1 and is asking for disc 2. The button on the drive won't eject it so I went to dolphin to eject it but it cannot be unmounted. I tried "eject /dev/cdrom" from the command line and it gives the following error:
/sbin/umount.hal: Unmounting /media/Orange Box failed: org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.Busy: umount: /media/Orange Box: device is busy.
How can I force it to unmount and eject?

Maybe you can copy the contents to your hard drive and 'mount -o loop file.iso /mnt/image'.
Actually I just read the Wine appDB entry for this and they had a solution. I mapped my cd drive to D: in Wine and then called "wine eject D:" and it released it. I'm still disappointed that even root can't eject a drive in use. I thought the whole philosophy of using root was "do what I type regardless of the consequences". I mean, I can make a typo and erase the contents of my hard drive but not unmount a DVD?
I think that even the root can't lift himself by the bootstraps but he can leap out of a tall building - if he wants to.
Root can kill any process and then eject that damn disk but some things are (what I call) logically impossible.

  • Can't eject DVD...please help

i can eject my dvd from my drive. i've tried to shutdown and hold the eject button, but it still won't eject. is there another way that i can eject this DVD?
    Thanks - Myke23

Try connecting a wired USB mouse and hold down the left click button during a boot. Please remember you need to hold this down very early on in the boot process, before you even hit the power button would be best.
