I can't eject my iPod. Whats wrong?

Everytime i go to eject my iPod i get a message that says,
"The iPod "Andy's iPod" cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application"
Please let me know how to fix this. Also I am deff. not going to just unplug it. I have way too much stuff to loose. Thanks for the help.

When I bought iPhone5, I update my iTunes to 10.7.21 to identify iPhone5.
But the new version iTunes can not eject my ipod nano 4 normally.
When I tried to eject iPod nano 4, the "usb mass message is uninstalled" message shows, bu the ipod nano 4 still existed in iTunes.
Then my Windows 7 system can not shut down successfully.

I'm having the same problem, including it not syncing my playlists. Also, I have the iBooks app installed and it won't sync my books?? I paid for those and thyey show up in my iTunes, just not on my touch.

I can not eject my ipod from itunes

I just move from ipod photo to a new ipod video but after synchronizing with Itunes and try to eject it there is a message display that says that the Ipod can not be ejected because it is been used by other application. I hope someone can help me with this

This happened to me today. Are you using the iPod as a hard drive? If you are, then maybe there's something on your iPod that is open. You can't eject iPod if there's something on it that's open.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I can't eject a disk--what to do? URGENT help needed :-)

Hey everyone, I put a CD with photos in my Macbook, of the sort you get if you ask the photo developers' lab to put your images on a CD. I'm trying to eject it but it won't let me. I have tried dragging and dropping the desk top icon to the trash, going to Finder and ejecting via the command on the menu bar, and via the symbol next to the disk name in the finder window, and none worked. I get a message saying 'the disk QSS_CD is in use and could not be ejected. Try quitting applications and try again'
What is this, what am I supposed to do? The worse is I need to go out with my macbook in a few hours and I need to shut it down, and I'm not sure I should even do that with the bloomin' CD inside. any help will be VERY much appreciated, especially if it comes quickly; I've been up the better part of the night trying to finish something, and I need to hit the sack like soon!!

Well it sounds to me like one of the applications you're running is using the CD to import or view the photos on the CD. If you were trying to import all of the photos into your iPhoto library, make sure that the pictures themselves were copied into iPhoto's folder on your macbook, and iPhoto isn't just allowing you to view the photos that are still on the cd.
When all else fails, you can go into applications, utilities, and then activity monitor and select any application you think might be using the cd. I'd start with iPhoto or Preview. And then try to eject the cd, by either pushing eject in any finder window or just pushing the eject button on your keyboard in the upper right hand. Good luck.

Can't Eject IPOD Classic 80gig

I need some help and can't find any elsewhere so I am trying here. I can't eject my Ipod from Itunes without turning my computer off. It says that it can't eject because there is shared files on my Ipod. I deleated all files with Itunes and still got the can't eject due to shared files message. I try to restore to original settings and got the message that I couldn't restore due to shared files on my Ipod. Can anybody help me with this. I am using Vista 64bit.

All you can do is force close iTunes, disconnect the iPod, reboot the computer and see is you can sync or if a restore is required.

Can't eject iPod & syncing doesn't work

I'm using iPod nano 4G. I've activated "Sync Music" and created a playlist to sync it. There was a lot of songs in the playlist so I unchecked all then started to check and sync them part by part. But it pauses syncing after a while. In itunes it says "Syncing iPod don't disconnect" but it doesn't sync any songs. I can't eject the ipod nor can quit iTunes. When I click "eject" I see "Ok to disconnect" on the ipod screen for a moment but it immediately disappear and says "eject before disconnecting". Somehow i find a way to disconnect it every time. As a test, shut down (power off) your computer and disconnect all USB devices including hub (except for standard keyboard and mouse if normally used). If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power). Do this to reset the shuffle

Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer. Does this problem recur when the shuffle is the only USB device?
If it does (as another test), select the shuffle in iTunes, so that its Settings screen is showing. Check the box for Enable disk use, and Apply. Does that make any difference regarding this problem?

I have my Ipod setup for manual sync and when i try to eject it itunes says it can't eject the ipod becuase it containes files that are inuse by another application. What am i doing wrong and how do i fix it please help.

Go to your computer's System Tray and try ejecting. If you can't eject, there is an application that is trying to access your iPod.
Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx and download ProcessExplorer.
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555665 and follow the instructions under Resolution.
Note that this is a good, general process any time you can't access any file.
In my case an update to RealPlayer installed a program called RecordingManager that was accessing my iPod.

I have inserted a CD which doesn't appear on my computer at all. I have used the advice given in the section 'Ejecting a disc when all else fails' of my help manual, and I CAN NOT eject this disk, what should I do?? Does anyone at all have any ideas please?

Hi i also had a recent problem with a stuck cd in my 12" powerbook slot loading drive. I would suggest attempting all the operating system problem solvers first that are covered in other discussions on this site, such as holding down alt + command(apple logo thingy) + F + O straight away when starting up your computer. This brings you to the open firmware where you type "eject cd."
My problem seemed more physical than a glitch in the operating system The CD would try to eject several times each time failing with a horrid grinding unhealthy sound as if something was blocking it. After a while the computer seemed to disable the act of even trying to eject the disc and the cd would not be recognize on my desktop or anywhere else.
After days of suffering and failed attempts I managed to get the disc out by getting another cd that was not important, and placing it in the mouth of the slot loading drive and carefully bending the cd gently in a wrist swiveling manor so that the slot got pushed wider. This sounds foolish behavior I know, but cds have a nice flex to them which softens contact with the soft aluminum metal. After a slight widening I tried ejecting once more and it thankfully worked. The disc that came out was incredibly scratched so I came to conclusion that the drive had been squashed a little bit down the line.
Any way hope this works and sorry about the essay.
