I can't export in FCX 10.0.8, this time failed because of frame 13355 (error-1)
What can I do to fix? I need to export my project. I've been working night and day for a week, trying to export. If I don't get this going, can you recommend someone who I can go to with my computer in Los Angeles to fix my FCX export problem? But because I've had so much advice from people at Apple that hasn't worked, who and how do I trust before I pay any more money?
First of all, don't spend any money!
Too many people on this forum immediately start spending small fortunes whenever a problem occurs and more often than not it is a complete waste.
Very few problems can be cured by money as they are usually caused by user-error of some kind.
So what can you do?
Trash the preferences as suggested in your other thread.
Ensure you are exporting properly. Do it this way.
1. Select Share>Master File and export it as either ProRes 422 or H.264 onto your desktop. Open it up and play it through, using QuickTime Player, to check that it is OK.
2. Drop this file into Compressor and select a suitable preset. I am guessing that you want a 720p file suitable for the web.
A decent one to start with would be "HD for Apple Devices (5mbps)", click Submit and wait for it to transcode, which could be a couple of hours or so, depending on the speed of your computer.

When I open an event, including flagged items, the photos appear one by one, not as thumbnails, so I can't export more than one phot at a time. How do I get iPhoto to show the thumbnails?
I've tried rebuilding the thumbnail database, but that hasn't helped. What version of iPhoto and system are you running?
Try moving the Zoom slider at the bottom of the iPhoto window all the way to the left. Does that let more than one photo display in the window?

I have created an 100 page booklet in Pages, with many photographs, and much written word, can I export it to ePub, and make an electronic book, because it says that "Note: The Pages document must have been created using a word processing template"?....
Basically what I want to do is publish the document into both an eDocument, and a hard copy document. What is the best way to do this?No Peter, this statement came right off the Apple ePub statement when outlining how to use ePub. the full context is:

ePub is an open ebook standard produced by the International Digital Publishing Forum. Pages ’09 lets you export your documents in ePub format for reading with iBooks on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
iBooks supports both ePub and PDF file formats, and you can export both from Pages.
When to use ePub or PDF
Use ePub when text is the most important part of your document, for example when you create a book, a report, a paper, a thesis, or classroom reading material.

Creating an ePub Document to Read in iBooks
You can export any Pages word processing document to the ePub file format for reading in an ePub reader, such as the iBooks application on the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Documents created in page layout templates can’t be exported to the ePub format.
Documents exported to ePub format will look different than their Pages counterparts. If you want to get the best document fidelity between the Pages and ePub formats, style your Pages document with paragraph styles and other formatting attributes allowed in an ePub file. A sample document is provided on the Apple Support site that features styles and guidelines to help you create a Pages document that’s optimized for export to the ePub file format, which you can use as a template or a guide. To learn more about using paragraph styles in Pages, see the topics under the heading “Working with Styles” in the Pages built-in help.
To read your ePub document in iBooks on your mobile device, you must transfer the ePub file that you create onto your device.
To use the “ePub Best Practices” sample documentTo learn more about using the ePub format and get a better feel for how a Pages document might appear as a book in iBooks, it’s a good idea to download the “ePub Best Practices” sample document. After reading the guidelines and instructions within the document, you can use it as a template to create your own document. You can also import the styles from the sample document into a new document you create.
Download the “ePub Best Practices” sample document at the following web address:
http://images.apple.com/support/pages/docs/ePub_Best_Practices_EN.zip
Do either of the following:Use the sample document as a template.Import the paragraph styles from the sample document into a new or existing Pages document.
Export the document you create to ePub format to see how it looks in iBooks.
Preparing an existing Pages document for export to ePub format
Documents exported to the ePub format automatically appear with page breaks before every chapter. A table of contents is automatically generated, which allows readers to jump quickly to any chapter title, heading, or subheading in the book. In order to create a meaningful table of contents, it’s important to apply appropriate styles within your document. The ePub reader uses the paragraph styles to determine which items should appear in the table of contents for your book.
Note: The Pages document must have been created using a word processing template. -
Updated Aperture today (3.4.3) running 10.8.2. Now I get hangs using plug-ins (NIK), and can't export (hangs/crashes). Anyone experiencing this?
Andrew,
In general, I've found the Nik plug-ins to be the least problematic of all that I use. Unfortunately you haven't provided enough information so that help can be focused on your problem. So here are some of the standard steps to take.
1. Make sure you are running Nik's latest versions. There were earlier ones that didn't work properly with ML.
2. Which plug-ings are the problem?
3. Have you tried the repair/rebuild option on your Aperture database? Often what appears to be problems with a 3rd party item actually stem from some sort of fault in the database.
4. If you're really stuck do the following steps: A. Delete the Nik plug-ings. B. Repair/rebuild the database. C. Download Nik's latest versions. D. Reinstall. E. Test.
This is a generic problem solving approach that fixes many things. Also, you should examine if it is a particularly type of file or set of photos or something specific in the images you are working on. A corrupt image, for example, can produce really weird things on occasion.
Hopefully some of this is useful. If not, more detail is needed.

Deep iMovie question:
I accidentally deleted various EVENT files from my iMove EVENTS folder. Yes, they are really gone ... this is NOT a matter of restoring them from the trash.
The projects are still there ... I can still watch the projects as long as I am in iMovie ... but if I try to export the Project I get the MISSING MEDIA error message.
Logic tells me that if I can view the project ... the file has to be SOMEWHERE inside my computer ... else I couldn't be watching it ... right? I mean what am I watching if not some file somewhere which has moving pictures stored in it?
So HOW do I get to something I can export? What am I watching when I watch the project?
I have iMove 08 on iMac with OS 10.6.8
Normally works great for my simple needs ... except if you move or delete an event file ...
Can anyone out there help?
thank you,
NatasyaIf you don't have the original files then I'm afriad you don't have anything to work with.

Can I export in different formats at the same time?
Most of my pictures are in different formats. When I choose ones of different formats and then try and export them at the same time, I have to choose what format to put them in(TIFF, JPEG, etc.) Is there an option to export each one in it's original format or do they all have to be exported in one format of my choosing?
Maybe I just don't understand formats and how Aperture makes adjustments from Masters to Versions.
Please help if you can.
Thanks,
Briani do all the time. Select the images you want to export and start to export. Once the export begins, select a second set of images and start to export. You can watch the exports through Activity Monitor under Window Menu.

Hello there,
I have been trying to both publish and export a Flash
animation from a native Flash file as a Quicktime .mov file. I am
using Flash 8 and have Quicktime 7.1.3 installed on my Mac running
OSX 10.4.8 - I get an error message every time I try to publish the
animation as Quicktime saying "An error occurred because a required
Quick Time component could not be found." My Quick Time program
works perfectly in all other programs. I tried it on another
computer and got the same error. I tried several different settings
and worked through the Flash Help Guide with no luck.
I also tried to do File / Export / Export Movie / Quick Time
Video. When I use this option it does successfully complete an
export but Quicktime file ".mov" has missing graphics and no sound
from the original Flash animation. Can you help me please. I need
to import this animation in a Keynote presentation ultimately.
Thank you. Thanks Nickels55 - beat me to that ink :)
Also - try setting publish settings to flash player 5 - you
may lose some flash 8 features if you
are using any.
Personally - I find the best solution is SWF2Video
(www.flashants.com) but I am afraid there's no
Mac version (i think).
Usually Macs are better than PCs when it comes to export to
quicktime because you have the option of
choosing quicktime video - but make sure, if you are
exporting to a true video (fixed frame rate)
format you do not use movie clips or actionscript at all
(convert all movie clips to graphic or
place on main timeline).

Make sure that you haven't saved Uppercase and Lowercase versions of that name and password.
Remove saved Password(s):
* Firefox > Preferences > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
*Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
*Highlight an entry in the drop down list
*Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

How can I export movies containing Panasonic LX-5 AVCHD clips?
When I use AVCHD video clips that I've imported into iMovie in a project from my Panasonic Lumix LX-5, I can't export that project. I get this error message: "Unable to prepare project for publishing. The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-50)"
Anybody else had this problem using AVCHD video recorded with the LX-5 or any other camera?Save the clips as Quicktime files (full quality), then you can import them into later versions of iMovie. An iMovie 6 project would not be compatible with recent versions of iMovie.

Can't export to AIR with Windows Style as Custom Chrome (transparent)
I can export to AIR with Xcelsius SP1 and FP1 as long as the Windows Style is set to either System Chrome or Custom Chrome (Opaque). However, if I choose Custom Chrome (transparent), it does not generate the AIR file but also does not create an error.
I had the network connectivity issue talked about in other threads so I could not export at all before but resolved that by taking my laptop home and exporting here. Now it works except for exporting to transparent.
Versions installed with correct paths:
FLEX SDK: 3.2
JRE: 1.6.0_07
AIR: 1.5>

Andy,
I'm also beginning to have this issue but it's new to me as I had to set up a new machine today. It has Xcelsius '08 SP1/FP1, Flex SDK 3.3 and J2RE 1.4.2.19. I've previously been able to export using the Custom chrome (transparent) option but I haven't been able to make a thorough examination of the two machines. One major difference is that the machine having the issue is a VM while the other is not. I did a little digging around and found this post on another forum. By the date on the post, this is a rather old problem.

Post subject: XCelsius 2008 - Exporting to AIR Hi, I just wanted to share a problem we've experienced when exporting our Xcelsius dashboards to Adobe AIR.
These are the symptoms: when exporting to air format, Xcelsius doesn't generate the .air package. We can see that Xcelsius generates some temporary files (swf, xml, tmp) but then deletes the files and does nothing.
To validate if the problem was on Xcelsius or on the AIR SDK we tried to manually generate the .air package by using the AIR SDK and the adt command, and received this error message:
"Could not generate timestamp: Connection timed out: connect"
One of the steps AIR SDK follows when generating an .air package is to contact a time-stamp server. If the AIR SDK fails to contact the tsa, no package will be generated and an error message similar to this one will be sent.
To validate if this was the cause of the problem, we executed adt and added the -tsa none (to skip the time-stamp validation) and everything seems to work. Unfortunately we can't add this setting when exporting from Xcelsius 2008.
We are connecting to the internet using a proxy server.
If we try to export while connected to another network (no proxy) the export is executed with no problems.
Although we've changed our JRE settings to use the company's proxy we still can't Export to AIR while connected to this network.
Any ideas of how we could fix this?
It would be nice if Xcelsius could display an error message when experiencing problems with the AIR SDK instead of doing nothing at all.
I have not yet been able to verify the above information but maybe it will help you guys. If you need more information from me, let me know. I'm going to do some more testing tomorrow and will post any results I find. I really really need this option to work.

I can't Export my Projects in FINAL CUT PRO X
HI Guys,
I have got the Version 10.0.3 of FINAL CUT PRO X unfortunately i can't export any projects anymore. It always says com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1. . Is there any possibility to export the project anyways, without an update? I can't update the application because my internet is too slow.
Best Regards
Johannes RauschYou must update FCPX, how did you get your current version? You must have downloaded it from AppStore.

Have created a document in Pages and am trying to export to Word, when I do this I get the message "an unknown error occurred" anyone got a solution to this?
This is an old thread, so you have probably given up, but the problem is relatively easily solved. The issue is apparently bad or corrup, or missing fonts.
You can try to chase that down, but it is faster to simply try deleting half the document and exporting again. If that works, restore the deltion and delete half of that section. Keep doing this systematically until you have located the part of the document causing the problem. Often it is something pasted in from another document.
You can then export most of the document and then copy and paste the remaining bits over into Word.
This works with Keynote, too, where often the issue is just one slide.
Good luck! -
GroupLayout can only be used with one Container at a time
Dear all,
I am a beginner so please don't throw rocks at me...
I have created two frames with NetBeans. One is the main frame (extends from JPanel) and the other frame I put it to be started when pressing a button from the main frame (the second frame extends from JFrame). Both frames are created using the designer in NetBeans, so the code for creating the GUI is automatically generated by NetBeans, so both frames use the same layout (GroupLayout).
Here is the code of the button from the main frame to start the second one:
private void manageCustomersActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
// TODO add your handling code here:
CustomerGUI custGUI1=new CustomerGUI();//CustomerGUI is the second frame
custGUI1.setVisible(true);
}When I press this button from the main frame I get this runtime exception: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: GroupLayout can only be used with one Container at a time. The second frame is not opened.
How should I handle this?
What I want to do: I want to have a main frame, from which I can start additional ones (the main frame must be always opened, while the additional ones can be closed after performing certain actions). I read a little about internal frames and I think this can be a solution, but I must edit the existing design...
Thank you
With respect,
Don

There are those that maintain that JFrame should never be extended. I am not convinced, but most cases where a JFrame is extended would be better coded as simply configuring the JFrame within the main(). GUI builders such as found in NetBeans seem to extend JFrame as a matter of course.I too am not rigorous or religious about this either, but try to adhere to this as a matter of practicality and convenience, I find that if I don't extend a JComponent but rather use composition rather than inheritance, it's much easier to use objects of my class when programming in Eclipse. For instance in Eclipse (and in most IDEs), if I type my object name and then a period, it will show all of the method's available for me to use on this object. If I subclass JPanel or JFrame, I'll see a gazillion methods most I don't want to see, and thus most are clutter. On the other hand if I use composition, I'll only see a small number of methods and these will be only the methods that I want to see and need to use. -
Have gone into my snyc data file to erase all data - error says that it can not be done at this time. I still have the error while syncing on my bar. Have tried to get a new sync number and that will not change - it goes back to the original how can I start over and try again?
This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
