I can't find my migrated files after using migration assistant

I can't find my migrated music folder despite the migration assistant saying it had been successful. After looking in system preferences > user groups I see no other account for me to access. This is my first mac, and therefore a complete novice to this system therefore any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

This is my first mac

You aren't likely to find them in the Adobe Download Assistant.  Try downloading again and see if it specifies where the files will be placed before the actual download occurs.

If you don't have any file you need in your old account, open System Preferences > Users and Groups and delete the old user. If not, I recommend you to migrate your files of your old account to the new one using Shared folder or an USB drive

  • Can not find weblogic_sp.jar file after installed weblogic

I just installed weblogic server (using weblogic610sp2_win.exe file) on my windows
2000 pro box. Everything looks fine but I can not find the < weblogic_sp.jar >
file. I noticed some guys met same problem but no answer.
    can you help me ?

    Hi.
    Don't worry about it.
The reference to weblogic_sp.jar is a leftover from previous methods for updating
service packs. Nowadays when you install a service pack it is integrated into the
weblogic.jar file. If you have any doubts about your server version after installing
or applying a service pack you should check the server version via the console
(Servers|<server name>|Monitoring|Versions). Your version string should look
    something like: "WebLogic Server 6.1 SP2 12/18/2001 11:13:46 #154529"

  • I can't find my converted files after downloading them

I'm new to this and I can't find files converted from PDF to Excel where I wanted them to be. Where might they have been saved. Not in downloads, users, so where???

    Hi joolsy751,
By default, they should go to your Downloads folder when you download them from your online account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files. Have you tried used the Search function on your computer to search for them?

  • I can't find the .pdf file after hitting Buy Book

    Hello,
I have made a book, and I am ready to order.
I click on the 'buy book' button, the book assembles, and I get to the Order Book screen.
I then went looking to preview the .pdf before ordering. I followed Old Toad's instructions on how to find it but I can find only "private/var/tmp/folders.502" file. The path specified by Old Toad is not there. I have looked in all the folders that remotely resemble the desired path but I can't find anything. I have tried Spotlight to find a pdf file created today and I don't get anything either. I am using 5.0.4. What am I doing wrong. Thank you in advance.

    Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I found it. The path was slightly different and I didn't find it the first 5 times through. I guess I need more sleep.
    The path was
    /private/var/tmp/folders.502/TemporaryItems/iPhoto

  • Can't find previous itunes file after moving info to an external drive to move library to new computer!!!  HELP

I have moved my itunes files numerous times to new computers as I get one.  This last time I had everything running off an external drive, to conserve hard drive space on computer and hopefully from computer failure.  I need to move library over to new computer and get away from old computer that has Windows XP to the computer with windows 7.  After installing itunes on new computer and plugging in external to new computer, it finds all music and movies, etc., however, I can't seem to find the file that has the playlist info, play count, and to see where the backups of my iphone(s) are.  I have been working at this for days to no avail.  It may be right in front of my face but can't see where to find it.  HELP!!!!

    Hi mechellr!
Here is an article for you that explains in depth how to move your iTunes library from one computer to another:

  • Don't have permission to access my files after using Migration Assistant with my PC?

The transfer took over 6 hours, so I would appreciate any help other than suggestions to just try it again! At first I couldn't find where Migration Assistant put my files, but I found them in /users/(Windows user name which is actually different than Mac username). Lion made that step a little tricky, since it doesn't seem too eager to navigate me to the root of my hard drive. The folder icons have red symbols in the lower right hand corner of them, and when I try to access them, I receive the following message: The folder “Desktop” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.
    Any help is really appreciated!

Try holding alt or option key when starting iPhoto to choose a new Library.

  • Unable to view files after using "Migration Asst".

I "migrated" my files from my old G4 to my new MacBookPro. Now I CANT VIEW my old files on my new Mac. I get a msg that says, "The folder “Pictures” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents." The files all have a red-sign. This applies to all the files I had transferred.
What I've done so far: I tried renaming my old G4 to match my new MacPro, but it did the same thing above. Migration Asst makes it sound so easy, (and basically it was) to transfer files, but it appears to me that a new "account name" is automatically set-up for the migration. I just want ONE ACCT, and to be able to read the files that have been transferred.
    What did I do wrong?
    THANKS!

  • Relocating music files after using migration assistant and time machine

    Hello
I recently purchased an i7 MBP because my previous 15 in was stolen. Luckily I had a time machine backup of the old machine - my previous MBP was the Intel 2 Core Duo model just before the refresh to the i5/i7s
So far what I did is ran migration assistant to bring my files over
Everything seems to be fine, except when I got to iTunes much of my music is listed but I get the exclamation mark symbol next to most of the music and movies and apps
I am trying to figure out how to fix this and relocate my files
I know I could access my time machine backup by browsing other time machine disks, but I can't browse the music folder in a previous backup because I don't have the permisson to access it
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    Victor:
If you correctly transferred your music files the problem is with your iTunes Library file.
Open iTunes and quickly press the option key. A window will show to ask you to select the library file. Browse for it and it should fix the problem.

  • Trouble migrating files after using SuperDuper

    Hello everybody,
I recently made a backup of my entire hard drive, using SuperDuper and selecting "back up all files." Two days later, my hard drive crashed. I just got the fixed computer back and would like to restore my computer to the way it was with all programs, bookmarks etc. The files that I copied all mirror the finder windows. When I try to copy some of the folders I get errors that say I dont have enough permission to copy some of the files. Putting all that aside, what is the best way to migrate these SuperDuper created files back onto my osx?

You need to either copy only your home folder back, renaming folders so that the folder you copied back has the name of the folder in Users with the house icon, or start up from the backup and use SuperDuper to copy the backup to the main drive. You cannot restore the backup by dragging all the backup items to your hard disk.

Don't you just love changes in interfaces?
I found the answer to my question.
When you attach a device (iPhone, iPad) to your Mac, in iTunes 12 in appears as a tiny icon in the second "row" of the iTunes display. Click the icon and the familiar iTunes display for the device appears. From there, on the Summary screen, you can see the dates of the backups of the device (iCloud and backup to the computer). You can also use the button to backup to the computer.

  • After an iTunes update I can't access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file

After an iTunes update I now. Can't  access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file. Any ideas how to rectify this?

Your iTunes Library.itl file will normally be at C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. If it isn't there should it be somewhere else (you ought to know if you deliberately moved it) or is there a Previous iTunes Libraries folder containing backups made during iTunes updates.

  • Why "research" from finder can't find all the documents imported by Migration Assistant?

I can't find the documents I imported with Migration Assistant (after a backup) using the Finder's research bar! It only shows the documents I've already opened once. Do I really have to browse all my folders every time to find a single file?

I have/had the same problem, and SirPatrick's frustration is not hyperbolous.
I produce, perform, and DJ music, and I use my Macs (3 of them) instead of a PC because of Finder.
That being said, I just tried restarting, and that seemed to fix the problem. And the relaunch of Finder (the alt-click method) didn't work, btw. So is restarting periodically the answer? Thanks a lot, anyone.
