I can't find my project

I was working on a project in Final Cut Pro 10.1 and my entire system just froze. I waited for about five minutes for the problem to fix itself, but nothing. So I did a hard shutdown. Fine. I open Final Cut back up, and go to my event. And my project isn't there. I have no idea where it is, but there is a little dropdown thing at the bottom of the event panel that says: No Data (1). Nothing is in the No data thing. Please help!!

The "No Data" has nothing to do with your present problem. (This is related to the criteria that you have for grouping clips in the browser).
As to recovering your project, there are two possible ways of approaching.
One is to open one of the latest backup versions of your library. In 10.1.x, FCP X stores backups of your open libraries regularly. They are usually stored in a folder called "Final Cut Pro Backups", by default inside your Movies folder, and they have a time stamp in the file name.
One other option is to force FCP X to rebuild the library database. With FCP X closed, select your library in the Finder, control-click and choose "Show Package Contents". Then drag the .flexolibrary file to the trash.
Start FCP X again and it should automatically rebuild the library database. This should hopefully bring your project back.

In which table can I find a project (CMOD)and enhancement (SMOD)??
or else please suggest to me how I can find the project assigned to a enhancement?

    Shashank,
It looks like table MODACT makes the link between the project and the contained enhancements.

I started editing my project in Final Cut Pro trial, then purchased the full app. Now I can't find my project. What gives?

Did you by any chance move the Events and/or Projects folders? Are they on an exteranl hard drive and it is now not plugged in?

  • Update 10.1: Can't find my projects after updating

Hi, I updated all of my media/projects to 10.1 (By having it search the drive for old media/projects)--and I have access to my events/clips in the new FCPX library system (including from my external HD), but I can't find any of my old projects... it's as if they weren't updated to the Library system or something. Even when I try to manually locate and update the project files, final cut says that it cannot find any projects to update... meaning the projects are updated? Then why don't they show up in my library?
Thank you for any help you can offer

Lamothe - I seem to be getting closer on this:  I created a new "Final Cut Events" and "Final Cut Projects" folders and placed just one corresponding folder in each (one project/event, respectively), then selected "update all" and FCPX did update THAT event.  The trouble is NONE of the original files linked so now I am struggling through that process.  For years now I have used Aperture to store and organize my project files (stills & video clips) but, at least at the moment, FCPX doesn't seem to want to look at Aperture and so I am having significant difficulty with relinking my files....but at least I'm getting closer.  I may just transfer all the files from Aperture into the corresponding event or project folder and see if that helps....
Also, I don't think it's a good practice to have your media files on your main boot drive if in fact your "Macintosh HD" is the boot drive.  FCPX will function much better with the addition of a second drive, either internal or external.  Best of luck to you.

  • I can not find my projects.

I was just working on a project.
I opened another as a reference.
Went back to the project library.
    Can't find it.
I created a title and everything.
Been looking for the last 10 minutes.
    It's gone.
With Final Cut X, do you have to start from scratch every time you want to look at another project?

With Final Cut X, do you have to start from scratch every time you want to look at another project?
No. You can have many projects.
Can you post a screenshot showing your project library?

  • Can't find Imovie project on HD

I've been having a nightmare week trying to burn a DVD from Imovie.
I think a source of the problem may be that I cannot find the movie on the HD. I'm pretty sure that when it's playing in Imovie its playing from the external HD. I understand this would make it difficult to burn.
I copied the big folder (I can't find the .mov file in it!) to the HD and set the one that was in the external in the trash. Imovie said it couldn't open the file "cause it was in the trash.
I've been on the IDVD-4 thread for a few days now. I've done lots of clean-up and disc utilities repair.

The size of the iMovie project folder is not important for iDVD, only running time. On my 800MHz G4 iMac, it takes about 5 hours to compress a 60 minute DVD. So there must be something wrong with your Mac, iDVD or your iMovie project.

  • Final cut pro crashed and I can't find my project when I reopened it

I did my edit in the timeline.  Everything was working great.  I got 58 minutes of video edited.  THen I went to open one of the transitions - got the beach ball and then FCPX crashed.  No problem I thought, I'll just reopen and everything will be back where it was - NOT!  I can't find my edit.  Arrggghhhh.  Can anyone help?  I am, obviously, a real newbie to FCPX.
    Thanks so much!
    Mary

I found it!   Thanks anyway!  You are all such a big help - just having you out there makes me feel like I can do this.

  • I can't find my projects! Not an updating issue.

Okay, so I have iMovie version 10.0.2 for the MacBook Pro and I have edited a video twice and then closed iMovie expecting for it to automatically save only to open iMovie again and not be able to find the project anywhere! Sorry if this is a stupid question but other people's questions only seem to be addressing updating problems, but I made these movies (uploaded the clips and editing them) completely after updating iMovie.
I took a screenshot of this **** and look! Under the "All Projects" tab, it says I have 6 items, but it isn't showing the 2 videos I already edited, and similarly, if I try and make a new video and try and name it the same as my disappeared project, it says that the name is already taken.
I have all of my projects under one folder if that helps.
    Thanks!

Its generous to award me 10 points since I don't have a solution.  If I had time it would be interesting to deliberately creare a project with the offending symbol in the name and go into the library and see how one might rescue it.  (create project with legal name, copy project file, then rename project with illegal character and see what has changed in the project file)
Apple should at least document this bug and preferably prevent the use of apprently illegal project names.
    Geoff.

  • Can't find Tutorial Projects

Hi, I'm trying to learn how to use Motion and following the Tutorial instructions for getting started and in the Shared folder I can't seem to find the Tutorial folder.
I assume there was a problem in the installation process or I accidently erased it. Do I need to re-install Motion or is there a quicker way?
    Thank you in advance.

I have the tutorial projects and media, but I'm exactly sure what to do with them. Is there documentation or a video that goes with it? The tutorial DVD seems to be a general overview, not very hands on. Where is the hands on training that goes with this media?

  • Can't find any project/backup after updating to Mavericks

    Hello,
I've updated to Mavericks and my project disappeared from FCP, I've found the folder in Documents\movies, with the name of my project but it appears there's no project library in there, there's a folder called backup with .fcproject file, but not able to restore.
Can someone give me some help on how I can restore the project?
    Many Thanks
    Pier

  • IMovie 11 can't find my projects

I've creaeted several, over 20, projects in iMovie saved to an external hard drive. I just installed iMovie 11, and they do not appear in the project window. I can see the external hard drive, but no projects are listed. How do I tell iMovie where they are so I can continue working on these projects?

    Dear Hugh,
For your information, The problem was experienced with 9.0.1
Since then, I have upgraded to 9.0.4 and everything is working properly.
With 9.0.1 my old project files were invisible and the create new project was not working.
With 9.0.4, all my projects were visible right away, and I can create new projects.
It seems that this bug is not documented for 9.0.1
Also, It was not obvious to me that I didn't have the latest version of iMovie 11
Thank you for your very prompt feedback and have a nice day.

  • How can I find previous projects?

I made a project a few weeks ago in iMovie, and I exported it as a iMovie project file then burned it to a disc.
Now I want to export it to iTunes so I can share it. But every time I try to open the project file, it doesn't show up in my project library.
    Please help!

    project library
Are you sure you are in the right forum? This is the iMovie 5 forum (also called iMovie HD) and there is no "project library" in that version.
