I can't find my windows HD icon and my MB has shut down randomly

Hi everybody!
I am an new Mac user from Hong Kong. I bought this MB around 20 of May, then installed the Boop Camp and everythings keep going good. However, the nightmare was came 2 weeks ago.
My MB randomly shutted down at lease 4 to 6 times, but I could stand that because it wasn't serious for me. OK...the problem is here...now my MB lost my windows partition!
The windows icon used to show on the desk, but I haven't seen it any more. I try to search it in the computer but found nothing, then I was going to restart my computer and pressing the option key to chose the windows partition, but once again it shutted down. Once, it did run around 10 seconds and showed loading the windows XP but it shutted down again.
Can anyone tell me what should I do? Should I bring it to the Applecare? But the problem is related to Boomcamp, so will they assist this issue for me? Is it means I lost all of the files in the Windows Partition?

This random issue of shutting down isn't isolated to Boot Camp. It's a hardware issue that needs to be addressed with AppleCare. So yes you should take it to them. It's possible that the drive losing power multiple times may have affected the drive and messed up your partition information.
I'd try booting with the OS X install disc 1 in the drive and holding down C. Once it's loaded, chose the drop down menu Utilities > Disk Utility and run the option to "repair disk". See if that helps any.

Sessionstore.bak is missing, but in its place is sessioncheckpoint.json, but i still have sessionstore.js and .old. How to I restore old tabs? On top of this, I lose tabs randomly from the end of one session to the start of the next with normal closing of firefox. Why is this? Thanks for any help you can spare!

The current Firefox release no longer user the sessionstore.bak file, but uses backup in the sessionstore-backups folder.
You can still make backup copies of the sessionstore.js file and restore this file in the main profile folder or copy a backup from the sessionstore-backups folder to sessionstore.js to use this session.

Transf fr explorer & can't find my e.mails,icons,favorites etc

my hp quit working, internet explorer too faulty, mother board faulty, Best Buy cancelled explorer and Geek Squad inst. Firefox and now I can't find any of my icons, shortcuts, e.mail, contacts, email addresses, I am lost with this Firefox, and I don't want windows mail. I want Yahoo mail, I guess. This hp laptop had factory faults, so hp says, but they never repaired it, have made 27 trips to Best Buy traveling 60 km ea. trip. Hp kept this laptop for 15 days and said it had factory faults, but never fixed it. Sound never worked, start up button doesn't work. As of July 13/11 Best Buy writes on work sheet "known motherboard problem" I am 76 and need my e.mails to keep in touch with family, charities, world news and educ. research etc. I liked internet explorer but Best Buy said it was too corrupted and gave me Firefox, and I find it complicated. If Geek Squad wanted to inst Firefox, why didn't they transfer all my files etc. so that when I opened Firefox, it was all there. I'm disappointed.

Do I understand well that you want to use the Terminal cause you have problem with updating MS Office ?
MS Office for Mac install Internet Plugins (SharePointBrowserPlugin.plugin SharePointWebKitPlugin.webplugin).
MS Office Outlook for Mac uses also the Safari WebKit to render HTML, that mean that you have to close Safari (and/ or any other browser) during the installation and / or before update Office for Mac to prevent problems.
The best way is to fasten the MAU (Microsoft Auto Update) - icon permanent on the Dock.

If it is you can get back on the Dock by dragging it there from the Applications folder again.

If you bought a notebook with Windows 8, there are no product key stickers anymore.
The key is now digitally encoded in the BIOS.

I don't have a notebook that came with windows 8, so I don't know if you can see it in the BIOS or not but that would the place to look.

Do your have Restrictions turned on? Settings>General.
If that's not it, scroll to the left until you get to the search page. enter "App Store", does this find the app? If so, then the icon is lost on some later page or is in some folder.

If you don't see the "shadow man" icon, right click the toolbar and select customize.. drag the icon up to the bar.

Can't find a LE 8 Icon folder in either Application Support/Logic

I can't find a Logic Express icon folder in either HD/Application Support/Logic or User/Application Support/Logic but I have the icons available in LE 8. I just want to drag some LE 7 icons into LE 8 from my clone I took before upgrading. A Spotlight search shows no folder with them anywhere. I have no HD or Users/Application Support/Logic/Images folder at all.

As you instructed, I went into Logic Express 7 & 8 package contents to get the LE 7 icons and see what was going on in LE 8. LE 8 has two icon folders, one called "Icons" with the default-accessible 149 icons numbering from 1 to 324 or 325 (with a lot of numbers missing), and another folder called "Legacy Icons" that have numbers which fit in between the icon numbers already being used in the Icon folder. This Legacy Icon folder has all or most of the missing icons I'm looking for from LE 7 but do not show up in LE 8 (unless it is imported on a track in a LE 7 file that used it). To use those Legacy Icons in LE 8, my guess is that I can move any of them I want into the Icons folder within the LE 8's package contents rather than set up a user icon folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Images as you suggested and stated in the manual. I guess that user Icon folder could be used for other custom icons above number 325.
It'd be nice if this information was in the manual. I'm going move one now and see what happens.

Had to uninstall iWork trial since I bought the pages app and it wouldn't let me print or save. Now the app store says I have pages installed but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it. I'm not very computer savvy and am getting frustrated!

Ooops, guess I didn't need to post everything in the title - sorry! I bought the pages app - but couldn't save or print so with some online searching found that I had to uninstall the iWork trial which had expired. I did that - but now I can't figure out how to re-install the pages app!! The app store says it's installed, but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it. I'm not very computer savvy - and am a first time Mac user and am getting extremely frustrated! I e-mailed some help center and they can't seem to help me either. I would appreciate any help/advice that can fix my problem - thanks in advance!!

OK Apple has stuffed up the demo version upgrade process so the first thing you need to do is get rid of the demo.
That includes getting rid of the files in the system.
The instructions how to do that are here:
Note That where you see / that is the sequence of folders, each nested inside each other.
User/Library/Preferences the com.apple.iwork.Keynote.plist
Means the User (you, the little home icon, whatever you are called on your computer) then the Library folder inside that and then the Preferences folder inside that.
Lion initially hides the System folders from you so you have to go to the Finder > Menu > hold down the option key and click on GO > Library to see it.

Trouble with viewing font on spine of Photo book. I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the book itself when printed.

I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the photo book itself. When I preview the book it appears on the dustcover and the book, but not when I'm back in the creation or editing windows. I've printed 4 books in a series and two spines are one font size, and two others are a different font size. One of the books has a shortened title on the book spine.

The text on the spine will be the same text that is in the Title text box on the title page. You can change the font and style of that text just like you change any text in Aperture. Aperture will size and center the spine text for you
If you want the content or the font and style of the text to be different from your Title box text then you have to trick the program a bit. Put the text that you want in the spine into the Title text box and then move that box to a place on the page where it will not be visible when printed ( Y coordinate -1.0 inches for example). Don't move it too far away or it will be hard to get back to in order to make an edit. Then make a new text box on the title page and put the text you want on the cover in that. (Or make a book without text on the cover , but with text on the spine).
You are 100% correct in that you can not preview this unless you preview the printed book
