I can't find the com.apple.itunes.plist

I an having problems with itunes after the latest update. Some of my songs will not play at all and some of them are just partial songs. I am also having problems putting videos that I previously had on my 80g classic i pod, back on my i pod. says my i pod cannot play them. Weird, they were on before and worked fine.
Anyways, to my question: Why don't I have a com.aplle.itunes.plist. I have done a search every way I know how. I have found all my other .plists. But not the i tunes plist.
Any help would be great.
Ryan

Hi,
For the benefit of anyone who may stumble across this idiotic problem, here's the solution, as it worked for me (and don't ask...):
1. Open iTunes' Preferences/Devices.
2. DESELECT the "Look for iPhone and iPod touch Remotes" check-box.
3. Quit iTunes.
4. Relaunch iTunes.
Fit for Ripley's "Believe it or not" column, iTunes now recognized my iPhone, and proceeded synch-ing.
Go figure.
(I did re-select the "Look for iPhone and iPod touch Remotes".)
Cheers, Tristan
(Now if also the OS 3.1-related daily intermittent narcolepsy attacks would vanish...)

  • Deleting the com.apple.iTunes.plist?

    Greetings.
iTunes will not recognize my iPod classic and freezes with My user ID (The iPod does show up in my finder). It does not happen with my wife as user; iPod is visible and connects to iTunes without difficulty.
I have been told to delete the com.apple.iTunes.plist under my user ID, then to restart the iMac. However, the problem remains. I have looked at the tech documents, uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, upgraded to iTunes 10...all without success. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get my user ID on the same page so iTunes will recognize the iPod?
    Thanks.

This is probably too little, too late but there is also an iTunes plist file(s) located at
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iTunes.605A79F2-A0DD-423E-9C65-C9FB9E1F6B CC.plist
N.B. The "605A79F2-A0DD-423E-9C65-C9FB9E1F6BCC" is a UUID so each instance will be different.
Don't know if that will solve the problem but you never know.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I don't seem to have the "com.apple.garageband.plist" file that has been a common solution. Any suggestions?

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I've read through several posts that all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist. Any solutions or suggestions?

    Did you upgrade from SnowLeopard?
I can't get passed the complete installation
What exactly is happening? Is GarageBand trying to download over and over again?
all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist.
The property list stores your preferences, but also the settings from the last run of the application.  If that file is corrupted in some way, you might see third behaviour.
You must have this file, for it will be recreated automatically, if it is missing, or you have a permissions problem with your user library.
Perhaps you did look in he wrong place.
in MacOS 10.7. or later the User Library is hidden. To find the Preferences Files use the Finder's "Go" menu:
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Click onto you Desktop to bring the Finder forward.
In the Finder Menu press "Go" and hold down the "option/alt" key, until your user library appears in the drop-down menu
Select "Library" and in the Finder window that opens navigate to the "Prederences" folder; move com.apple.garageband.plist to the Desktop.
Log off and on again (don't skip that step!). Retry GarageBand and see if it GarageBand is now downloading the missing content properly.
If that does not fix the problem, post back and explain in more detail what the download problem is.
Why did you "repurchase" GarageBand? If you already owned GarageBand '11, it should be unnecessary.

  • I can't find the application in iTunes Store which I bought before

I can't find the application in iTunes Store list which I bough it before. Please help me to get it. Thanks in advance

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here. If you can't find the app in the store then it may have been removed either via the app developer or by Apple - have you not got a copy of it somewhere e.g. on your computer or on a backup ?

  • I have a receipt for a rented movie but can't find the movie in iTunes or on Video app.

I have a receipt for a rented movie but can't find the movie in iTunes or on Video app. Shouldn't it show in my movie file on iTunes or Video app on iPad?

If you rented it on your iPad then it should have downloaded into its Videos app - if it hasn't completed downloading then it might still show in the iTunes app in a Downloads tab in it (Downloads only shows if there are downloads happening), the iTunes app on your iPad is just the store.
If it doesn't show in Videos then does it show via the iPad's spotlight search screen : pull down the centre of the homescreen (not from the very top of the screen, that will open Notification Centre) ?
If you rented it on your computer's iTunes then you will have to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and use its Movies tab to move it over to the iPad - rentals are a one-time only download, so won't show on your iPad for redownloading.
If you can't find it on the device/computer that you rented it on then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Windows 7 is not officially supported by National Instruments as it hasn't even been released. That means you won't get any official support from NI on this.
That said, does your computer actually recognize a serial port? Do you have an actual serial port, or do you have some sort of virtual COM port, or are you using some sort of adapter, such as a USB to serial port box? If it's any of the latter, the most likely reason is a driver issue which needs to be written to be compatible with Windows 7.

  • I have 74k  photo's in my iPhoto trash and crashes when emptying. I have tried deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist but still won't empty.

Hi! I have 74k photo's in my iPhoto trash and it crashes when trying to empty. Clearly it's too much for the system to handle so after researching I downloaded 'Trashit!' which didn't help even if I selected one photo and dragged it to the trashit icon, not a single photo will delete from the iPhoto trash.
I've tried creating a new album but the photo's won't drag. I have tried deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist and done several timely rebuilds but I still can't find a way to empty the trash.  I hope there's something really simple I'm missing here, any help appreciated

iiPhoto is known to lock up if you try to delete a large number of photos at a time. Here are a couple of ways to get out of the predicament you're in:
1 -  go into iPhoto's General preference pane and uncheck the Show item counts checkbox:
and then try emptying the iPhoto Trash bin again. It's iffy however.
2 - If that fails and you don't use the Rating stars you can do the following: select all of the photos in the trash and Control-click to bringup the contextual menu.  There will be the 5 stars for the ratings.  Select either 5 or 1 to apply that rating to the photos.
Next create a smart album with the criteria:
selecting the number of start you applied to those in the Trash bin.
Move the photos from the Trash bin to the Library and the Smart Album will immediately be populated with those photos.
You can now select about 100 photos or so at a time and use the Command+Option+Delete key combination to move them back to the Trash bin and empty it.  Repeat with groups of about 100 or so photos till they are all deleted. Then delete the Trash bin in the Dock to completely remove them from your hard drive.

  • ITunes generates "com.apple.iTunes.plist"  file after each start up

On one of our Mac's after each startup of iTunes a file is generated in /Users/Name/Library/Preferences
    File names are like:
    com.apple.iTunes.plist.Z2buKbR
    com.apple.iTunes.plist.lx6pQwr
    com.apple.iTunes.plist.0YWqm3c
    File size is zero (0)
How can I stop iTunes 10.1.2 doing this as the files seem to have no function ?
    thx

    Hi,
as the files seem to have no function ?
Those files are there for a reason. They contain all your iTunes preferences. Do not delete them. Open iTunes then from the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferneces.
If you are trying to free up disk space, there's a better way to do that.

I have downloaded 2 rented movies. I can find then in my downloads but can not find then in iTunes. I read the others that have had the same problem an I can't find the rented in iTunes

    Hey rangermikegsm,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’re concerned because you don’t see your rentals in iTunes, but they appear to have downloaded. Take a look at the article below and check the Rentals tab in iTunes on your MacBook.
About renting movies from the iTunes Store - Apple Support
    Find movies you rented previously
Find your movie on the device you used to rent it.
On a Mac or PC: Go to the Rentals tab in the Movies section of the iTunes Library.
On an iOS device: Go to the Rental tab of the Videos app.
Using Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation): Look in the top shelf of the main menu.
    Ciao,

  • What Do I Put On the com.apple.Boot.Plist to Make Snow Boot to the Apple Hardware Test By Default?

Hi. My main OS is 10.7.2 Lion but I had installed Snow 10.6.8 into a USB external drive. I will use Snow for apps that run well in it and for the Apple Hardware Test which is was my main reason why I installed Snow. Whenever I boot to this iMac's Snow DVD installers (disc 1 or disc 2) or to the one installed on the external USB drive and press D before the gray screen and 'ding', it doesn't want to go to the Apple Hardware Test. I want ot use AHT because I have no budget for similar apps like TechTool Pro.
Why is pressing the D not working by the way?
Is there a way to edit the Snow's com.apple.boot.plist to always boot to Apple Hardware Test (AHT)? What should I write in it. I'll be using Smultron to edit the plist instead of Terminal.
    Thank you in advance.
    Gbu.

Put the AHT disc into the machine, restart, holding down the D key. AFAIK, you can't do the way you're envisioning.

  • I can not find the podcast on itunes?

We resibmitted this same aproved podcast to upload an image over a week ago but still no response, any way to follow up?
This is our link but can't find it on iTunes. Has
it been removed if so why is this link still available?
    feed://blog.cherrybombkillerperfume.com/podcasts-only/rss2.aspx

If your podcast has been submitted and approved you don't need to submit it again when you make a change, you just reupload the feed - that's all you need to do.
However your image URL is not valid because it has a space in it: spaces are not allowed in a URL and you need to remove them or replace them with a hyphen or underscore.
Your media file also has spaces in the filename, but here the feed has correctly substituted the code %20 for each space so it works: however you should stop putting spaces in your filenames, it's asking for trouble.
Other than the image URL the feed is OK. I can't find it by searching on the title - you say it was approved: you should have received an email giving you the URL of the Store page: do you have this and does it produce any result? Are you sure it has actually been approved? - this can take several weeks and I see your first episode is dated only a week ago.
