I can't get a proper connection to my Epson R1800 printer. I need to be able to choose Paper type and size. It keeps saying that the downloads are fine, but the System Library Extensions   SMC1255TX.kext aren't working?

Dear sweet Apples, that know all the answers...
I can't get a proper connection to my Epson R1800 printer.  I get the basics , but I need to be able to choose paper sizes and paper Types.
It keeps saying that the downloads went fine,  but then it says that the System/Library/Extensions cannot be used because SMC1255TX.kext
isn't working.  My downloads are useless as a result

Did you restart the printer?
