You can't install any application which requires iOS 4.3 or newer on a first or second generation iPod touch. If you still have a copy of that application compatible with iOS 3.1.3 or 4.2.1, import it into the iTunes library and sync it.

What software version do you have on the ipod?

I have the original ipod touch and I can't get any apps on it because I think it is to old. Is there anything I can do to upgrade so that I can get apps without having to buy a new ipod!

On the iPhone, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>, and make sure that under Automatic Downloads you have the items you would want to automatically download checked.

My kids have given me a second hand ipad 1st gen MC497B/A ipad 3G 64GB- GBR and I cannot get ANY apps even free ones as says I must have V6 Surely this device is not so old I can't get any apps Plea tell a novice what to do as no free Apple support!

The iPad 1 can be updated to iOS 5.1.1. You can see what level you are running in Settings > General > About > Version.
If you are not at iOS 5.1.1 and if you are have iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

If you are on level 5 but not at 5.1.1 you can update to 5.1.1 using Settings > General > Software Update.
There are still many Apps which will run on iOS 5. Also, some developers have older levels still available for the iPad 1.

Can't get developmental App to deploy to my iPhone (0xE800003A variation)

I believe I have followed Apple's guidelines to T but I still can not get my app to deploy to my developmental iPhone. It seems to copy all the files over but then fails at the last second with the dreaded "Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application" Error.
After the failure the Organizer console logger display's this:

Which seems to indicate that there is a problem with entitlements.plist. Well, I don't even have this file so I don't know what that is about. I thought this was only required for ad hoc distribution (which i think is different from just development distribution which is what I did).

Make sure you have the latest SDK and your phone is updated at this point.
Get the latest Portal Guidelines (new version just a week or two ago)
If it downloaded a version of your app to your phone delete it from the phone.
Check the Keys section of Keychain. Is your development certificate there? Can you expand it it out?
Does the name you put in BOTH places in xcode match (while in debug settings)? (project and target settings) iPhone Developer: My Name
No need for entitlement for regular development.
Is your provision set in both places while you have it set to a debug build?
Is organizer checked for this?
What does organizer say while downloading?
Did you set a Unique bundle ID in info.plist? com.mycompany.myapp
If none of that works you may have to delete your provisions and certificates and start again.
Do a restart of your whole system just to make sure if you reinstall any new certificates.
Restart xcode if you add a provision.
Do a full clean before building.

Can't get "VCAST Apps" to load ANYTHING

I just activated my LG Revolution two days ago, and when I try to open "VCast Apps," I can't get it to load ANYTHING. It just keeps loading, but nothing happens. Is there a solution? Can I uninstall VCast Apps, and then reinstall?

It's definitely frustrating to not be able to access applications on your new phone.
Do you happen to get any type of error message when you try to load V Cast Apps?
Are you having problems loading any other applications on your Revolution?
Please follow the steps below
1. Press MENU> SETTINGS> APPLICATIONS> PLACE A CHECK BY UNKNOWN SOURCES.
2. Open browser and enter following address. http://mobile.vzw.com/VCASTApps3 It is case sensitive.
3 .Download the application and if asks to replace the application, then do so.
Once you go thru the set up it should start working again.

I've spent SEVERAL HOURS on this problem already. Ugh.
Two things that would be extremely helpful for me:
Does anyone know the actual FILENAME that contains the "button templates" or "loadable button styles" that would make these appear in Encore? Perhaps they did install somewhere on my computer, but I just haven't found them yet. If I knew the name of a file (or files) I could do a search and determine if I already have what I need. If there's a file for each button style and thus 50 different filenames, can you give me one or two and then perhaps the FOLDER name I could search on?
Can someone tell me how to load an image into a post so I can show you what I'm seeing (or not seeing?) A picture's worth a thousand words. Right now, when I click on the "camera" icon above where I'm writing this post, I get a grey box that says "Insert Images" but there are no links, nothing to click on or anything. Simply a red x up in the right hand upper corner. I'd embed a picture of that in this post, but I don't know how to embed the picture that shows my difficulty in embeding a picture. :-)

I'm just going to repeat the relevant sections from my previous post with the screenshots this time:
Below you'll see a snip of how my current folder structure appears. It's identical to yours, except there are no button files in the General Folder. Since you were kind enough to include a file name, I did a search on that specific one and it's nowhere to be found on my hard drive. Hmmm....
I've seen others remark on how... "challenging".... Adobe's instructions can be sometime. I'll admit to having the same feeling when I was trying to download and install all the content files and the 7-zip stuff. Is the answer somehow that I screwed up that? Note the 7-zip folder right above the Adobe folder. Here's a screen shot of that expanded folder contents:
Does that look like you think it should? Have I not installed or extracted something correctly?
Finally, the only other thing I can think of to give you as much info as you might need is to include a screenshot of where the "Functional Content" stuff got saved. Adobe's instructions about this (if I recall correctly) were that it did NOT have to be installed anywhere specific, but you then had to go into Encore (& Premiere) and through preferences point to this stuff, which I believe I did. But I don't see any button type files in these anyway.
Other thoughts or advice?

Can't get any apps for my new iPad?!?

Got an iPad yesterday. Promptly went to the itunes store and bought a bunch of apps that I wanted. Today, when I try to buy more apps (or books or music) I get "Your Credit Card was declined". I called the card company and they said they had not declined any charges.
I changed to a different credit card. Same message.
Finally, I changed to PayPal, but still the same message. It seems like I'm dead in the water in terms of getting any more apps, songs, or books--even the free ones.
Any advice?

When I try to get an app it says "Please read and accept the new Terms and Conditions" ... After I click ok nothing happens -no Terms and Conditions show up anywhere . So- how am I supose to accept them if I can't even see them?!...I havnt tried connecting my phone to my laptop yet , maybe I'll try that ?! Thanks

Try accepting them in iTunes on your computer. Just go to Store>View My Account, enter your password and it will probably prompt you to read and accept the changes there.

Can't get any music to load on my nano

Could someone pleeeeeease help me out here - I'm going NUTS!!!
I am trying to put music on my ipod nano using itunes, it is music that I uploaded from CD's or that was already on my computer and is now stored in my itunes library.
I have checked the "manually manage songs & playlists" under preferences and so when I try and drag down my library to my ipod, it tells me that I don't have enough room on my ipod, even though there's only 1.15 GB in my library and my nano should hold 2 GB, then it says it will copy as many as possible, but it still no songs appear on my ipod.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the software, but no luck. still can't get a single song on my ipod. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

One or more of the following occurs:
iPod does not show up in iTunes or as disk in Windows Explorer
iPod does not show up as disk in Windows Explorer (even though disk mode is enabled on the iPod)
iTunes and Windows Explorer report the wrong amount of available space on iPod
No songs appear on the iPod after an apparently successful update from iTunes
Music copied to mapped network drive instead of iPod
