  • Can I stop Apple Hot News RSS feeds?

    Hi
Can I unsubscribe from the Apple Hot News RSS feeds? I don't read them and really don't know how I signed up for them in the first place! If someone could tell me how to stop them appearing in my inbox that would be great.
    Many thanks

I am fairly certain you can do this by simply deleting the feed. You can "right click" on the feed and select delete. That should do it.
I also stumbled upon a listing in the Preferences. You go to Rules. (Click the arrows pointing to the right.) and there is a listing for Apple News. I don't know what that is but it looks like it can be deleted if you need to. I hesitate to delete something if I don't know what it does.
BTW - Let me just say I am a new Mac user so don't take what I say as gospel.

  • Stop apple hot news RSS ?

does anyone know how to stop an rss feed from going to mailbox - in particular, apple hot news?

I attempted this method, but I couldn't find "delete feed." By "highlight feed" do you mean the unwanted Apple email msg. or something else?
Click once on the "Apple Hot News" RSS feed name that is listed under your Inbox to highlight the feed name. You may need to click on the disclosure triangle next to "Inbox" to see the feed name inside it.
Then Control-click (or right-click) on "Apple Hot News" and you should see a contextual menu with several options, including "Delete Feed" (selected in the screenshot below) and "Show in Inbox" (circled in red in my screenshot):
You can delete the feed entirely from Mail by clicking the "Delete Feed" option, or you can have the feed not show up in your inbox by unchecking the "Show in Inbox" option in the menu.
You can also get the "Delete Feed" option by clicking once on "Apple Hot News" to highlight it and then clicking on the Mailbox menu in the menubar at the top of the screen:

  • What do Safari, iTunes store, and Apple Hot News RSS have in common?

Answer...these apps can't connect to the internet on my setup, but Firefox & Mail can. Any clues?
I am running an older Airport Extreme, but my internet connection is fine. I suspect there's a network setting somewhere that is blocking these three different apps from connecting.
iTunes - "The network connection was refused"
Safari - "Safari can’t open the page “http://www.google.com/” because it could not connect to the server “www.google.com”.
Apple Hot News RSS in Mail - "can't connect to host"
    Any ideas?

Look to make sure there's no http or https proxy set in your Network Preferences pane.

  • How do I discontinue receiving Apple Hot News - RSS emails?

I am being bombarded with Apple Hot News emails in my mail application that I would rather not receive. Mail has created some kind of RSS folder that they are delivered to.
How do I turn this off?

Select the RSS feed you wish to delete. Then go to the bottom of that column and select Delete Feed from the drop-down menu under the "Gear" symbol.

  • Apple Hot News

The Apple Hot News stories are appearing in my inbox, and it is very anoying.
Is there anyway to keep this from happening?

My guess would be that you have the 'Apple hot news' RSS feed set to "open messages in inbox".
To resolve this, scroll down in Mail's sidebar to your RSS feeds, ctrl+click on the 'Apple Hot News' feed, and uncheck 'Show in inbox'.

  • Can someone tell me why there isn't any RSS Feed for Apple Hot News?

I am not getting any news via RSS for Apple Hot News. Does anyone know why?

So when I use the address book with iCloud, the data is no longer saved locally on my computer as it was with mobile me?
The data lives on the iCloud server. A cached version is kept on your Mac to speed up viewing and to allow you to access the data when offline.
I can't answer exactly why you can't sync Google with the iCloud calendar, even with the cached data, not being a programmer: but I'm afraid you can't.

  • Mail RSS: Apple Hot News RRS does not display html page/images

Hi, everyone who use Lion in my community has Apple Hot News RRS and it is perfectly displayed in Mail RSS feed. as an html letter with pctures and etc.
I get only plain text with "read more" in the end.
I tryed to find the solution in every preference, option or right click - but either I'm too dumb or it is too complicated to be changed?
    Please help.

Something I didn't mention in my original post: when I view the messages in webmail using Safari (the latest), all the content is there; but when the same messages are brought into Mail the content disappears.
Fortunately for me, the issue seems to reside only in content coming from this particular server; other html content comes through just fine. This is why I spent a week in server-side tech support. But because the content is viewable in ALL OTHER mail clients AND webmail, they think it's a problem with Mail.
And yes, I've fiddled with my phplist config.php file, and compared it to other phplist config settings that I use successfully. Besides the things that must change, all other settings are identical.
    Apple tech? Any response?

  • RSS Apple Hot News

Since installing the upgrade of Snow Leopard, the RSS feed for Apple Hot news at the left side of mail keeps showing all the "hot news" from the last few months as well as a few new ones. I delete them all, and they show up again the next day. I've set my mail preferences for RSS feeds to "manually" and "after one day" for checking and removing. Any suggestions for getting this to work correctly?

Perfect description. I am having exactly the same problem, and so is the rest of the world I guess. Very annoying when you delete items you don't need, only to have months-worth of them return and get mixed in with the ones you wanted to keep. Apple is usually very good with support documents, but they just created the most useless document in their history today, regarding this problem. The name of the document is "Mac OS X v10.6: Cannot delete some RSS feeds in Mail" (Article TS3033). Here is the entire text of the article:
Symptoms: Some RSS feeds you delete in Mail may re-appear later.
Resolution: If this occurs, delete the feed again.
That is literally the entire document. I sure hope Apple does not consider that a solution to the problem. This problem never occurred until Snow Leopard. I will add my complaint to the Apple Feedback site.

  • Can I get Apple to block a brand new iPhone 5S?

I sold a brand new phone (still in its original box, unopened) on eBay only to find out the persons account was hacked. I have reported it to the police here in England, UK. Thing is I dont want the scammer to be able to use this phone and I want it blocked. Only issue is the phone was never taken out of its box and registered to any network here in England.
How can I get Apple to block the IMEI of the phone? I thought with IOS 7, Apple brought in new technology that allows it to track where each of their units are. Surely they can deactivate it.

Sorry, Apple can't help you, & Activation Lock only kicks in AFTER the phone is first activated, not before.
Sorry, but it appears the scammer got away free & clear, unless you can get a carrier to Blacklist the phone. Although that's doubful.

  • RSS Apple Hot News Mail

How Do I Unsubscribe From RSS Apple Hot News Mail? I Never See an Unsubscribe Link Anywhere?
If I Were To Unsubscribe to RSS Apple Hot News Mail? How Do I Put it Back or Re-Subscribe? Please Explain
    Thanks From Byron

It might be in there if you subscribed in both mail and using the browser. That information above was for the browser. That is what I thought you had meant when you used the term, Bookmark.
If you also have this in Mail, highlight the specific feed, then click on the gear-wheel icon at the bottom of that panel. That will bring up a menu and one of the items is Delete Feed.

  • Blue page , Apple Hot News OCtober 16 2009, then it hangs .

Ok now I have no idea what is going on here. My nephew got on my computer today through firefox to do some homework ( he is like 10 years old) assigned by school . HE is a trouble maker and so have that in mind. He was told not to touch anything and just do his homework through the web page he was on and the firefox. I walk away for less than 5 minutes and when I come back, I see that the computer is rebooting . It actually runs from a secondary disk on 10.5.8 and 10.3.9 on primary internal disk. It was booting on the primary ( 10.3.9) , so I asked the kid what happened and he said that it hung and that he pressed the restart button. I thereafter rebooted which did bring the computer up on the external drive which is running on 10.5.8. The problem is a few minutes into the boot, after the computer comes up, somehow it runs something by itself that clears the desktop and replaces it with a blue screen with clouds, and then Apple logo , together with something like Apple Hot News, October 16, 2009 displays, and then page goes blank with a faint column of words displaying about 1/3 way frem the left side. Next is the computer either just hangs ( dies) on that page or it acts as though its going to sleep with screen going off and unresponsive thereafter. It takes pressing the restart button to shut down the computer and depressing it again to restart the computer.
I am not really sure if the kid has done something that has started this but it is happening again and again. I have used the MAC OS disk and ran dissk utility , repair comes out clean and repair permission gives a bunch of messages which I previously have noted that are problems with 10.5.8
I have tried to run activity monitor and console in hope of finding something but I am not knowledgeable enough to do so. Console has barfed over 4000 messages in the past two hours and the mail seems to be the process that is using most cpu , other than that I guess I am just sitting and waiting for it to happen again so maybe I see something. I am actually afraid of walking away even for a minutes as it seems that its like waiting for me to walk away so that it crashes
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update: Using Remote Install I was able to remotely boot my mac from another laptop's CDROM drive and run Disk Utility from the installer which again passed with out errors like the fsck command.  I also repaired disk permissions.  Upon reboot to the internal SSD, I am again getting the same blue screen.
So, since I can boot remotely and my disk seems to check out ok I am guessing now that there is something wrong with my OS, some kind of corruption has occurred, but that is just a guess.  It is possible I guess for there still to be an actual hard drive or hard ware failure of some kind.
    Any help is still appreciated.

  • Apple Hot News -- BEGONE!

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, my Apple Mail inbox is stuffed with dozens of old Apple Hot News messages, dating back two months. I select all, delete, erase deleted items, then shut down ... And, at reboot, THEY ARE ALL RIGHT BACK. I don't want to mark as Junk, as I enjoy these ... WHEN THEY COME IN. I just don't want them all to reappear every time I reboot. Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm also having this problem - it is so annoying!!! I deleted them yesterday, and they are back!!
I've just logged into my mail, and I have rss feeds from Apple Hot News dating back to 20 July 2009 (Mac OS X Tip: Keep applications in the Dock); then there is a huge gap, and they start again on 19 August 2009 (New Extra-large Hardcover Photo Book Available with iPhoto 8.1)
I too like these updates, and for Apple's sake, they get me spending some more money!!
Please apple, sort this out, if it is a Snow Leopard problem. Incidentally, I think this may have started before I upgraded to SL on Saturday 29th August.
I'll knock off the "show in inbox' for a while to see if it corrects itself.
