I can't get firefox plugin to work using mac os X 10.6.1

I can't seem to get contribute to load on my firefox toolbar. CS4 with Snow Leapord. Any suggestions?

The script for Ct firefox install tells me: "selected file isn't a valid FF application, try again." I might try using Safari alternatively. Hope you guys find something out soon. thanks

Any way to get a Flash plugin to work in Lion?
Web sites with Flash components are messing up Safari function.

I tried going to the page in Firefox (after having uninstalled and reinstalled Flash), and Firefox Error Console reported (among other warnings):

I have reported this issue to Apple as feedback, and I will be attempting to contact the WA courts site admin on Monday as well. I am enjoying some of the new features of Lion and hopeful this issue can get resolved soon. As systems continue development, it will have to be eventually.
Any additional observations, especially from tech-savvy folks, most welcome.

Can't get jsp:plugin to work with jb5

I am trying to get a Swing applet compiled with JDK 1.3.1 to run on a jsp page using the <jsp:plugin> tag. At this stage it is a ridiculously simple applet (just some JLabels and JTextFields) but I can't get it to work. Here is the jsp code:

When I run it in the jb5 ide nothing shows up at all. OK, I figured the ide doesn't support the plugin, so leaving the ide running (which provides me with a web server) I go into IE (version 5) and enter the url to the page, which is http://localhost:8080/AppletCommunications/GanttApplet.jsp
I get the page, and the gray box saying loading the applet but the plugin console tells me:
load: class nz.astarte.ganttapplet.GanttApplet not found.
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://localhost:8080/AppletCommunications/WEB-INF/classes/nz/astarte/ganttapplet/GanttApplet.class
Why not? Under the directory where the jsp page is located is the directory structure WEB-INF/classes/nz/astarte/ganttapplet and in that directory is a GanttApplet.class file.
I cannot understand why it isn't found. Do applets work with the jb5 ide? Is there something blindingly obvious that I've missed?

I appear to have solved it, but it is not clear to me why.
I created a jar file of the required classes, and placed it in the same directory as the jsp file. My jsp code then looked like:

This works fine. However I would expect to be able to move the jar file to some other directory, so that the jar file and jsp files are separated. I spent hours trying to work out why it wouldn't work when I had the jar
file in WEB-INF/classes (under the jsp file directory) and had codebase="WEB-INF/classes/". In the end I put the jar file into a directory I defined separately called wotnot and defined codebase="wotnot/"
Now it works. However I still think I should be able to have the jar file anywhere, including WEB-INF/classes and would love for someone to tell me why not!

Can't get ApertureToPBase plugin to work

Has anyone gotten the ApertureToPBase plugin to work? When I try to export an image, it just hangs at the login prompt with the 'Logging Into PBase' screen scrolling endlessly (If it's a network issue I would expect it to eventually time-out, but it never does). ApertureToPBase comes with no documentation included with the package or on it's website. Does anyone know what protocol it's using to remotely login and transfer files to PBase? Any help debugging this would be appreciated.

Can't get e-mail to work using wireless router . . .

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to help my sister get her e-mail working. She is running a Macbook with 10.5. She is sharing an Internet connection with a PC, via a wireless router (a D-Link unit). The ethernet goes from the modem to the router, where it is hooked into the PC via cable. Her Macbook is accessing the router wirelessly via Airport.
She can surf the net perfectly fine, however, she has no e-mail functions. When she tries to send or receive e-mails, she gets error messages about ports being unable to send or receive info. If she plugs the ethernet cable directly into her laptop (instead of going wireless), e-mail works perfectly fine.
Any ideas where I can look? I played around for a couple of hours but couldn't come up with anything. I have no experience with networking, however, my hunch is that it's some sort of settings problem with the router that are preventing her e-mail from working in this setup. The bizarre thing is that everything was working fine a few days ago and then the e-mail servers went down with her ISP (neither the PC or Mac could get e-mail). When they came back up, the PC was able to run some self-diagnostic software and resolve it's e-mail issues, but the problems with the Macbook persist.
We could simply just hook everything back up to "hard" wires through a switch, but she really wants the wireless functionality.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the response orangekay. As it turns out, they took back the router that they had bought and they picked up an AirPort Express station and now everything is working perfectly fine again.
Still not sure what the exact problem was but my sister is happy with how things worked out

Can't get firefox sync to work. I keep getting 'Error While Syncing' message

I am on Mac OS X 10.6.4, Snow Leopard on a Mini Mac a year old.
I got a message from X Marks telling me they were shutting down.
As I use my bookmarks every day and have thousands of them all sorted into folders I definitely never want to lose them or lose access to them if my house burns down or my computer is stolen!
I was using Firefox 3.6 and followed X Marks advise and downloaded Firefox Sync...but...won't work....kept giving me the 'Error While Syncing' message after trying to sync for a while. I looked at the blog and tried a few things like resetting password, restarting computer, checking my setting etc., but no deal. So, as the Firefox Sync download page told me that if I was using Firefox 4 beta the feature was built in and I didn't need the download, I then downloaded Firefox 4....which has removed my X Marks option, which was at least viable till after Xmas! and I still have the 'Error While Syncing' message beside the Sync button on my status bar....so now I am completely at a loss. The only thing I can do if I can't fix it up is go back to 3.6 and go on using X Marks while it is still available and pray that you get this sorted out before they dissappear.
I also like to be able to get my updated bookmarks on the other browsers I use, like Chrome and IE, so I would really appreciate it if you would include this cross browser sync capability as soon as you can. I have pledged X Marks that I would even pay for their service to continue as it seems they are so ahead of anyone else in their service and it is a large pain in the you know where that they can't keep going.

Hi, all.
I have done a fresh install of Arch, but am still using my previous /home partition.
I've installed mozplugger, Flash and Firefox, but the Flash plugin doesn't function.
Can anyone tell me how I can get around this?

I do not have any value in $MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH. Manually exporting from an xterm, and spawing firefox from the same xterm makes firefox realise I have plugins.
1) I have logged in/out, and rebooted multiple times after firefox's installation, and after flash installation
2) I do have, and am using bash(even to startx), /etc/profile _is_ being called. However /etc/profile does not have a $MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH variable set in it anywhere.
Is firefox package supposed to edit the /etc/profile to add this variable? Obviously setting the variable here is the solution, just curious now as to why it was a problem to begin with.

Can't get flash plugin to work

I am running IE 6 and it has been working fine until just a
few days ago. Then I noticed I was unable to access webpages that
have flash video on the homepage (i.e. myspace) The page would quit
loading when it was trying to load the flash video.
I went to adobe's website and downloaded the flash player 9,
and then went to the page and it loaded fine with flash video and
everything. I thought the problem was fixed, however next time I
started my computer and tried to load the page the same thing
happened. It would not load the flash video and the page would
freeze up.
Again I re-downloaded the flash 9 from adobe's website and
again it worked. I tested it out out and as long as I have a
browser window open (IE 6) the flash plugin works fine and I can
access all the pages. But when I close the browser and re-start it,
the pages do not load and my flash plugin is gone.
Is this a problem with setting on IE 6? or do I have a virus?
My virus scanner says I have none.
Can somebody please help me??

How can I get Firefox to let me use Internet Explorer. I have to use it to register some software and Firefox is blocking it and all of Microsoft.

We recently had to reinstall windows xp pro on our computer. We then reinstalled Mozilla.
I have to reinstall all of my software such as my Microsoft Office, but our computer will only go through Internet Explorer to activate it. However, Firefox will not allow access to any Microsoft site. Firefox says that the Microsoft sites do not provide identity information and therefore will not allow them.
I am a professional writer. I need my Microsoft Office to work and it cannot work unless I can activate it.

Just open IE, Firefox doesn't block it from working. You can even have both browsers open at the same time, if you want to.

Can I get Firefox 3.6.16 for Mac? Where can I find the download?

My son recently started school through the K12 website. WE could not authenticate user. Tech support said that in order for K12 features to work properly on Firefox I need to be running 3.6.16 (I currently have 3.6.20) and I can only find the 3.6.16 download for a PC (.exe) Is there a version available for Mac and where do I find it?

Can't get external speakers to work using headphone jack on MacBook Pro

I have a male-male connector that I use for my iPod to radio or multimedia player to play on external speakers. When I plug it into my MacBook Pro, sound goes dead on the MacBook Pro, no sound comes out of the external speakers, and the preferences on the MacBok Pro say "Headphone : Headphone port" and volume is at full, and mute is off. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need a repair? I unplug the cable and sound comes back.

No such problem, eww. The speakers were plugged in and working. I shut off the speakers, but did not unplug them, and when I turned them back on, there was no sound. I tried my headphones, and there was no sound from them, either. The headphone port was dead. I restarted, with no change.
I was getting ready to do an SMC reset and read the preliminary steps. The last one before resetting the SMC was to shut down the MacBook Pro. That brought the port back to life. When I restarted, I had my external speakers back.
Go figure.
I have not upgraded to Lion because I have PowerPC apps that I want and/or need, so this was not a Lion-related bug. I am certainly glad the port isn't dead. I was not looking forward to having to send in my MacBook Pro for repair.

How Can I Get Flash Player To Work In Mac OS 10.5.8?

I've got Flash Player v10.3.183.7 installed on my Mac running OS 10.5.8. Using any browser, when I go to a page where Flash Player is required I get a notice telling me that I need to install FP or upgrade to a newer version.
Where do I go from here?

Do you know if your Mac is Intel or PowerPC based? If it's a PowerPC cpu, please see this post:

If it's Intel based, right click on Safari in your Applications folder and select "Get Info". In the dialog that appears, do you see "Open using Rosetta" checked? If so, uncheck it and try again.

I have tried changing the volume both by using the volume buttons on the side and through settings. I have updated all the apps. Closed and reopened a million times hoping it was just a one time deal but I have had continuous problems since the update on my ipad.
I love the update on my iphone but for some reason the ipad did not adjust well. I really would like to get it fixed because I love my ipad but there is no use when the apps an volume do not work.
