I can't get FLASH to Instal on my MAC  OSX 10.8.5  Beyand Frustrating!

I have tried several times over the past 36 months to get the updates version of FLASH to install on my MAC.  It just won't do it.  I have gone to the Adobe Trouble shooting guide and followed all the steps.  Please help.  I am beyond frustrated!!!!!

I did all that stuff that is referenced in Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac?
I have no idea what a "Log File" is.....so  I would have an easier flying to the Moon than figure that out.
What occurs is this:
1) I download the Adobe Flash Player Installer
2) I start the Install
3) I ALWAYS get the same message at roughly 82% Install:  "Error: General Installation Error".
This is the same thing that happens over and over.  I have done everything that is referenced in the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac post.
On another note, I have ALWAYS been able to ib=nstall FLASH on every update up until about 6 months ago.  I know my original Post said "the past 36 months", but I meant to say the past 6 months.
Thanks,
Sam
It is the same failure every time.
Thanks,
Sam

  • How Can I Get Flash Player To Work In Mac OS 10.5.8?

I've got Flash Player v10.3.183.7 installed on my Mac running OS 10.5.8.  Using any browser, when I go to a page where Flash Player is required I get a notice telling me that I need to install FP or upgrade to a newer version.
Where do I go from here?

Do you know if your Mac is Intel or PowerPC based?  If it's a PowerPC cpu, please see this post:
What version of Flash Player should I use with my Power PC based Mac?
If it's Intel based, right click on Safari in your Applications folder and select "Get Info".  In the dialog that appears, do you see "Open using Rosetta" checked?  If so, uncheck it and try again.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • How can I get Flash to install please?

Hi, trying to install FP 11.7.700.169 on Imac OSX 10.6.8 with Safari 5.1.9.  Have tried on numerous occasions over days. Downloads fine, click on icon, installs, says installed successfully.  When I go to site requiring it, prompts me to install latest version.  On adobe site, no FP shown on my computer.  No error messages.  Have closed browser, switched off firewall, used Adobe Uninstall to ....... uninstall.  Got rid of files as advised elswhere related to preivous versions of FP.  Have spent ages trying to sort this out...  If somebody can help,  I can stop tearing my hair out and eating too many sweets! Hope this has given enough info.

Is there anything in here that helps: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-mac.html

  • Tried to install Mavericks but installation froze.  I tried to go back and click on install button but nothing happens. How can I get Mavericks to install?  I have OSX 10.7.5 currently.

    How can

Check the App Store Purchases tab to see what shows there - it may be paused.
So how do I get another copy of the installer as the install button for mavericks doesn't do anything when I click it?
    Download the installer again.
You can try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account and see if the installer will run there.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

I found this link on someone else's post about this same issue
    https://mega.co.nz/#!tlghxQoZ!I0VV1Th9pgiFMQagfG7LbHLvT8xT5uyKo8CrPAX5f9U
Several people said that it worked for them but the last is in 2013 so I'm not sure if its older Mac OS systems
I can down load and install fine but when I go to open it I get this error message
ERROR! cannot write to Info.plist, there are permission problems, or you are on a read-only volume.
This cannot run from within a read-only dmg file.
But when I go to "get info" the program says i have "read and write" permission?
I'm lost and new to Mac, can someone help me please?

The Cisco VPN client is notoriously lousy. Use the built-in Cisco client if at all possible.

  • How can I get Flash Player and install it?

    I29/Aug/2010 17:37
    TO: Adobe Forum
I am running Windows XP Home, and using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 as my browser.
When I go to download and install the latest version of Flash Player, the ONLY option I get is to quit. In other words, I cannot download and install Flash Player. This even occurs at Adobe's own website.
How can I get Flash Player and install it?
    Thank you in advance.
    Sincerely,
    Barry Karas

First, you can manually download the installer here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Second. On both my Mac (OS 10.6.4) and My PC (Vista Home Premium) I have had nothing but trouble with Firefox 3.6.8 and Flash player, Flash apps and Flash sites that require access to web cam or microphone or both.
The last time Flash Player worked well with Firefox was 3.6.4, but I uninstalled 3.6.8 and went all the way back to 3.0 on both systems.
Just a heads up. If you download the manual installer, and it still doesn't work, it ISN'T the Flash Player. It's Firefox. IE, Opera and Safari all work with it.
Go to oldversion.com and get an older build of Firefox, uninstall 3.6.8, install the older one, go to Tools, and Options and turn off automatic checking for updates, so it doesn't try to take you back the the 3.6.8 "busted @$$ joint" that doesn't work worth poo.
Maybe when they release 3.7, Firefox will have their act together with Adobe and Flash Player.

  • Help, I can not get Flash Plyer to install.

I have been working on this for 7 hours and can not get Flash Player to work.
I have IE 9.0.8112.16421, Windows Vista, Disabled McAfee Virus and Firewall and run as administrator.
Uninstalled Flash Player ( it did show up on my installed programs but when I checked with Adobe FP checker it did not show as installed.) I keep getting a notice that says I need to install the latest Flash Player.  Tried to update IE to IE 9.0 enhanced but I get the notice to install FP.
I Shut down and reboot with all programs closed everywhere including tool bar.
Started FP installer from desktop as administrator and went through Download manager and then install FP 10. I get message that says the installation is complete.  I Quit and reboot.  But  FP is not working.
Checked internet tools -- security on Medium and internet on Medium.
Is there a problem with Flash Player 10 and IE 9.0?
    Can anyone help?

That doesn't make sense; if you have saved the installer to your desktop, then then the DLM does not come into play.
    A few questions:
what is your Windows version, and is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
what files do you have in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash (32-bit) or C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash (64-bit)?
on IE, Tools, Add-ons, do you have Shockwave Flash Object, and is it enabled?
can you see the Flash animation (rotating red 'F') at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ ?

  • I have installed Smile Box and can't get it to install, I am running a Mac Powerbook G4 10.5.8 1.33 GHz help?

I am running a Mac Powerbook G4 OSX 10.5.8 1.33 GHz  and can't get Smiebox to install, it downloads the program just fine but will not let me install it, can someone tell me why?

    Hi SusieQ,
Seems they have no idea what they're doing over there, to wit...
    Mac Snow Leopard and above*
In general, we recommend a multi-core processor and at least 2 GB RAM.
Connection to the Internet is required; Smilebox is optimized for a high-speed broadband connection, and that faster connection will give you the best performance.
Smilebox uses your Internet browser and Flash11 (or higher) to run. We automatically detect whether Flash is installed and will help you install the free download if need be. You will also need javascript enabled. Your internet browser and any security software (firewall, antivirus) you have on your computer may need to be configured to "allow" Smilebox internet access. Please refer our article on - I have security software (firewall or anti-virus software) that I suspect is blocking Smilebox.  What can I do to fix that?
If your computer shipped with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 you can install run Smilebox; we do require that Windows XP computers have Service Pack 3 installed.
To run Smilebox on your Mac, your Macintosh should have an Intel or Power PC processor on a G5 or higher (if your Mac was made in the past 3 years, it should meet this requirement), 2GB or more RAM.
*Smilebox will not run on earlier versions of the Mac OS X including Leopard (10.5).
Snow Leopard is 10.6.x, no G3/G4/G5 PPC Mac can run 10.6 or above.
So this line is wrong, or two other lines about Snow Leopard are wrong....
To run Smilebox on your Mac, your Macintosh should have an Intel or Power PC processor on a G5 or higher

  • How can I update Flash WITHOUT installing Chrome?

How can I update Flash WITHOUT installing Chrome?  I keep getting update messages.  I go throught the download and install process but there is no option to un-check installing Chrome.  I don't want Chrome. I'm not asking for Chrome.  I just want to update Flash.

There are a few threads around here with this same issue, and as far as I know Adobe has not addressed it adequately.  Many of us, when we are prompted with an update for Flash, are not given the option to opt out of installing google toolbar and google chrome.
Adobe is playing cute, pretending to be surprised at such reports.  They always demand screenshots of it, and then ignore them when the screenshots are posted. Then demand screenshots in the next thread with the same issue, feigning surprise that such an isue could occur. Sometimes they insist it isnt happening or it is somehow user error (as if it is user error to simply allow the update from their app to install after getting the update message from their app!  )
The problem , in my case, was that the update goes to a URL that autoselects chrome and toolbar.  I found if I manually edited the URL, that it would not automatically install chrome and toolbar.
Basically the URL has to be manually edited , so take out the " &a=Google_Toolbar_7.4&a=Google_Chrome_22.0_IE_Browser " at the end AND the "&dualoffer=true&chromedefault=true" bit in the middle.  Then it will give you the opt-out. Then do make sure to uncheck the box, obviously    And it is obvious that the users are not doing this on purpose, this is built into Adobe's updater, somewhere.   I went into a little more detail in   http://forums.adobe.com/message/5274050
