I can't get get an Ethernet connection on my Macbook Air.

When I try to add a connection in the Network utility the only interface choices are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth DUN, VPN, PPPoE and 6 to 4.

Update. Had my Apple Genius Bar appointment this evening and lo! the Mac immediately joined their wifi hotspot and apparently my iPhone hotspot. They were great and did an overall diagnostic, which was fine; and dealt with some stray connection files.
All good. However, got home and still getting the 'wifi network can't be joined' message - though I can access via usb to iPhone. So confused, why does it work in the Apple store, but then not at home (or apparently not any other hotspot - is it a permission/trusted source thing). I'm sure there is a really simple reason for this - is my home hexed?
If there is anyone out there who can shed some light, please, please do

The file that I'm have issues with in itunes is the file called iTunes Libary.itl.
So just to get itunes to open I had to delete that file and then sync all of my music back into itunesday, is there anyway so I do not have to keep doing that?

I have several websites that I need to use for my new job that have not been tested for Mac. I don't want to have to buy a PC laptop, so I was wondering if there is a tried and true way to get windows Internet explorer on my MacBook air.

Or install Parallels 7 and then you can run IE just like any other app from within OS X itself. That costs around $50 plus the Windows license though.
Personally I have created an IE9 RDP (remote) App on my terminal server at work and just run that. Looks like it is running on my Mac natively.

My Personal Hotspot is not coming on, and I can't get it to connect to my MacBook or iPad. Do I need to reset my account in each?

I cannot get my Verizon Personal Hotspot on my iPhone 4 to connect via wireless. I can do so by plugging it into my laptop, but it won't transmit to my iPad (or my laptop w/out the USB connection). When I checked my "Network" settings on my MacBook, it had an old number from a Verizon JetPack. How can I get my phone number as my contact (I also need a new password, which I assume has to come from Verizon, since there's no place in the Network settings to create a new one). Thanks.

- Basically because it seems like there are no internal speakers when I search in 'sounds'. Anyone, please?

Sounds like either the internal speaker volume is muted or the micro switch inside the headphone jack is stuck and the computer thinks something is still plugged in.
1. Check the sound preferences and see if you can select and/or unmute the internal speakers?
2. If not, try plugging in gently jiggling and then unplugging the headphones to see if you can unstick the micro switch?
3. If not, contact your local AASP and make a service appointment.

How can I get rid of 'Vidx' adverts on MacBook Air?

Vidx has been everywhere in literally any page whenever I use safari. They popped out annoying ads and direct me to their own webpage when I clicked some other safe links. My internet has been slowed down because of Vidx. I couldn't find any solutions. Does anyone have the same problem? Does anyone have any solutions that helps? Many thanks! 

You installed the "VidX" trojan, perhaps under a different name. To remove it, first open the Applications folder by selecting
Go ▹ Applications
from the Finder menu bar, or by pressing the key combination shift-command-A. Look for an item named "VidX," "MacVx," or similar. If present, drag it to the Trash and empty.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension you don't know you need. If in doubt, remove all of them. You may well have more than one that's adware or spyware.

Can't add Epson xp-200 series printer to Macbook Air

Hi all,
hoping someone can help me with this before I throw either the macbook or the printer out the window in frustration!
I recently purchased a new Epson XP-200 series printer and try as I might I cannot get it to connect to my Macbook Air either via wi-fi or USB. I have used both the CD that came with the printer and downloaded the software online. Currently when I have the USB connected the computer recognises that the printer is there but when I try to add the printer it attempts to update the software, then tells me that it cannot as the software is not currently available on the server. I cannot get past this step as the computer won't let me add the printer without updating the software and Apple then tells me it doesn't have the software available despite their website telling me it is and also despite me downloading it from the web.
Can someone please help me get past this issue!
The reason that I bought a new printer was that my previous HP WIFI printer one day just stopped working, or should i say disconnected form the computer and i couldn't reconnect it, I assumed it was the printer, but given that I can still copy on it I'm now thinking it was a computer issue, or one of the OS upgrades to be more precise that caused the issue!

In what context do you see "the software upgrade"?
Is it trying to update firmware on your Epson printer?
Is it trying to update some software on your Mac? That would be highly unlikely since the download link I sent you has the latest software.
To update firmware on your Epson, get the Epson iPrint app for your iPad from the iOS App Store. (By the way, does your iPad connect to the Epson using AIrPrint? Assuming it does ...)
Run Epson iPrint. Click the printer. Then click "Advanced Settings". Then do a firmware update from there.
