I can't get into iTunes

I'm getting an error message that a file is missing.  It suggests that I reinstall the program.  If I download iTunes and re-install it, will all of my current songs and downloads still be there?

Yes, but you should backup your library anyway.

  • I can't get into iTunes Store at all, iTunes no longer sends me new music Tuesday updates. What's up with all that?

I can't get into iTunes music store at all. It's just a blank page that says the music store may be busy, check my internet connection. Also I no longer receive information from iTunes on new releases Tuesdays. It's like they're mad and don't want to talk to me anymore.
Hey iTunes what's up with that? Do you want me to buy music from you or not?

I'm having the same problem. I've tried resetting my firewall, checking my anti-virus software program-blocks, uninstalled and reinstalled the program, and nothing works. Does anyone know what's going on?

    Hey Gingernut03,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities! So it sounds like the same type of thing is happening to both iTunes and iCloud. Check out the following iTunes article and see if that resolves the issue with both services:

  • TS3212 Runtime error! What do I do? Can't get into itunes now.

Runtime error! can't get into itunes now. What do i do?

Is that the bonjour.msi that can't be found?
If so, download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time?

  • I have just got new ipad3 , iTunes has stopped working on my pc so I used my friends pc to set up the iPad . Problem is that when I go into iTunes ,my friends apple ID is the default  ID and I can't get into iTunes with my own ID? How can I change default

How to change apple ID on newly set up iPad ? Used my friends pc as iTunes had stopped working on mine and now his apple ID is showing  as the default ID for iTunes and I can't get into my iTunes account ?? iCloud is fine , just iTunes that I can't seem to change defiant user id.

Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap his ID and sign out. Sign in with your ID. If you are in iOS 6 it is Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID.

  • I can't get into iTunes or apps on my iPad or iPhone. It never excepts my password and tells me to reset my password. Well I have changed my password about 15 times and still I have trouble entering iTunes or apps.

I am having problems getting into iTunes and Apps. The message says for security you must request a new password. I have changed my password so many times I have given up on iTunes and Apps

    Don't fight it
Walk it into the nearest Apple Store and ask for help there....it's their job

  • I was doing the update for itunes and now I can't get into iTunes, the box that comes up says iTunes was not installed properly and I should re install it.  I have thousands of songs on iTunes, will I lose all?

Whatis going on with iTunes. I can't get back on after doing an udate. It says the update failed, but I can't get back in to try again.

Go into Programs and Features and uninstall:
    iTunes
    Apple Application Support
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple Software Update
Reboot. Download a fresh copy of iTunes. Right click on the exe file and select Run as Administrator.
I did this and it reinstalled as if nothing happened. All of my songs, podcasts and playlists were still there.

  • Still can't get into iTunes store!!!

I have been trying to get into the iTunes store for about 3 weeks...I keep getting the message that says "store is temporarly unavailable"....what's going on with this and how can I fix it?

I recently upgraded to v10.1, and kept getting "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (306). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later." whenever I tried to access the iTunes Store. Safari also wouldn't load.
I even contacted customer support, and they were pretty useless.
After scouring around trying anything to fix the problem, I found a solution that worked!!!
The 306 error is related to issues with your proxy connections. A number of different things may potentially be causing the troubles, but a good place to start with your troubleshooting is adjusting your proxy connection settings in your Internet Options control panel.
    (1) In your Start menu, select Control Panel.
    (2) Open the Internet Options control panel. (If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista you may need to select Classic View on the left before you can see Internet Options. If you are using WIndows 7 you may need to change "View by" to either Large icons or Small icons before you can see Internet Options.)
    (3) Click the Connections tab.
    (4) Click the LAN Settings button.
    (5) Uncheck "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN". (If that option is already unchecked, try checking and then unchecking it.)
    (6) Click OK to exit the LAN Settings dialog.
    (7) Click OK to exit the Internet Options control panel.
    (8) Restart the PC and try connecting to the Store again.
    Hope this helps!

  • My imac is 10.5.8 how can I update software, because I can't get into itunes anymore

    I am running 10.5.8
I am now booted out of iTunes because I need the latest iTunes version, but when i try to downlaod that, I am told my software version will not support my itunes version. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. How can I move up from 10.5.8?

Start by checking if you cn run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.

I've been ignoring this for 6 months and now need some new music.  I just can't get past the error code.

    Close your iTunes,

    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.

  • Can't Get Into Itunes Store

I keep getting this error message when I go into the Itunes store to check my connectivity and my connection is fine (obviously I'm on the internet)..
When I run the diagnostics its saying "secure link to itunes store failed..."
I have tried EVERYTHING that support has said to do with flushing the system, uninstalling & reinstalling Itunes.
Someone please help me!! I need to get music...

That is usually caused by Norton, McAfee, or other security software not allowing the iTunes connection.
    Here are Norton directions
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/0/7fb6e478e2a1abf78825708b00558625? OpenDocument&seg=hm&lg=en&ct=us
Depending on the version of Norton, even if Norton says iTunes is allowed, you have to take iTunes out of the Norton list and add it back in.

  • How many cd's can you get into iTunes?

I've been a Mac/iTunes user for a few years now. I still think its the best software of its kind out there and with the recent purchase of an external drive for backups I've decided to dump my entire cd collection on my Mac.
My question is whats the largest a library can get before there are performance issues if any? I'm looking at about 1000 or so cd's and wondered if there are any limitations to the library I'm not aware of.

There are no hard limitations. The more CDs you have, the slower iTunes will respond, but I've seen people report several thousand CDs while still having iTunes be usable, so 1000 should be OK.

  • I wanted to update 6 apps. but iTunes asked for the password of my old Apple ID. Now, I can't get into iTunes., I wanted to update 6 apps. but iTunes asked for the password of my old Apple ID. Now, I can't get into iTunes.

When I opened my App Store today, I found 6 apps needing update.  I clicked “Update All” and there popped “Sign in to iTunes Store” and asked me to enter the Apple ID password for <my account>.  I entered my password for the Apple ID but it said “Your Apple ID or password is incorrect.” Since I entered incorrect passwords many times, I had to reset my password two times already.  I want to update the apps on my phone. But, I can’t , and this is tiring, exhausting, and frustrating.  My questions: (1) Why is iTunes asking for a password for an old account  when I changed that already? (2) What to do now - Do I sign out of iTunes, delete the account and create a new one?
    <E-mails Edited by Host>

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses from your post (it's not a good idea to post personal info on any public forum).
Is the old account a completely different iTunes account, or is it just a previous primary email address on the same account ? If it's a different account then all content that you download from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, so only that old account will be able to download updates to its apps.
If it's the same account, just a previous primary email address, then what id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your phone ? You could try tapping on that and log out of it and then log back in with the updated version and see what id then shows for updates.
