I purchased Adobe Acrobat x Pro recently and installed it, I have compatibility issues visio 2013. The adobe pdf converter  plug in stays inactive despite all my efforts to activate it, I need help with this? How can i get the plug in to work with Visio 2013?

Should have purchased XI. According to Compatible web browsers and PDFMaker applications you will need Acrobat 11.0.1 -and- to be running the 32-bit Visio.

  • I can't get my Dynamic PDF Widget to work in Captivate 7

    Hello all,
I've been trying to get my Dynamic PDF to work in my Captivate 7 project. I have created a button on the final slide where I want the user to open the PDF, I have named it correctly to correspond with the Dynamic PDF. I have also updated everything within the editor to appear how I would like it to appear. I have also tried viewing it in various formats such as Published, In a Browser etc. and nothing appears to work for me.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Please make sure that the pdf is also saved in the same published folder .
Also test the behavior in other browsers as well like Chrome and Firefox .
If you still face this issue then try to add the published output in trusted location of Flash.

For MS Visio (any version) only the appropriate version of Acrobat *PRO* provides PDFMaker for Visio.
For Visio 2013 specifically you must have Acrobat XI Pro (updated to at least 11.0.1).

  • Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER

Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER ? Do you loose the files you have saved on you old computer when you get another computer?

I may not be clear on what you are asking here but I'll try an answer anyway since that's the type of guy I am.
If you have PDF files on your old computer, you will need to transfer them to your new computer. You can use a flash drive or CD if needed.
But again, I think I'm not getting what you are really wanting to know. If I'm not, can you give us some more details?

Solution 1: Use a supported installation.
The following are unsupported installations, and the supported solutions:
If you install Acrobat (Professional or Standard) on a 64-bit operating system, then you may
see this error. Please update Acrobat to version 8.1 or later. You can update from within
Acrobat via the help pull-down menu, or download the updater from the following location:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows.
If you install Acrobat to a shared network disk instead of a local hard disk, then the Adobe PDF
printer is not installed. Install Acrobat on a local hard disk.

Solution 2: Ensure that the Print Spooler process is running and set to
    Automatic, and then repair Acrobat.
    1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Administrative Tools and then double-click Services.
    3. Locate the service Print Spooler.
    4. If the Startup Type is not Automatic, then set it to Automatic:
    a. Right-click the Print Spooler.
    b. Choose Properties.
    c. Choose the General tab.
    d. Choose Automatic in the Startup Type menu.
    e. Click OK.
    5. If the Print Spooler service is not running, then start it.
    a. Right-click the Print Spooler line.
    b. Select Start from the menu.
    6. Start Acrobat, and choose Help > Detect And Repair.
Solution 3: Ensure that the Print Spooler process has no additional
    dependencies.
Only the Remote Procedure Call dependency is required for Print Spooler to operate.
Additional Services can attach to the process but will interfere with restarting the service.
If the Print Spooler process has additional dependencies, then please refer to the steps
    below.
To remove all services listed under "This service depends on the following system
    components":
    1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Administrative Tools and then double-click Services.
    3. Right-click Print Spooler and choose Properties.
    4. Click the Dependencies tab.
    5. Record services under "This service depends on the following system components" and click
    OK.
Imporatnt: Remote Procedure Call is a system service and should not be removed.
    6. Temporarily remove associated programs for the listed services.
    7. Contact the service vendor for removal information if removal of associated software does
    not remove the service.
    8. Start Acrobat, and choose Help > Detect And Repair.
To disable all services listed under "The following system components depend on this
    service":
    1. Choose Start > Set

I am having similar problems. After years of successful use, about a year ago, my printer (Epson stylus Photo R300) stopped working. After much investigation, it appears my computer no longer recognizes my printer. I've followed resets, safe boots, uninstalls, reinstalls, etc. This happened so long ago, I don't recall what I was doing when it happened. I'm figuring it happened shortly after a Software Update... So far none of the fixes recommended to me have solved the problem. I've been using Epson customer support, but they've stopped responding. None of their suggestions have seemed to work either.

  • Adobe PDF Converter port

    Hi
A client Windows 7 64bit computer can't print PDF files using the Adobe PDF Converter that was installed by the Adobe CS3 Design package.
I checked and realized that the printer port "Desktop\*.pdf"  was missing
I followed the recommended procedure to create the required printer port :
    =================
    Manually install the PDF Printer
Click Start >  Control Panel > Devices and Printers
    Select Add a printer
    Select Add a local printer
Check Use an existing port and select Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF) from the drop down.  Click Next
    Click the Have Disk… button
    Click the Browse… button
    Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF
Select AdobePDF.inf from the list, then click the OK button
You will see many Adobe PDF Converters in the list, however count six down from the top and click Next (you may need to try this numerous times to find the correct Converter from the list that works with your version of Windows)
Name your printer, e.g. Adobe PDF
Follow the rest of the prompts and your PDF printer should now be installed correctly
    =================
Unfortunately I get errors when the setup tries to copy the Adobepdf.dll file over to System32
I disabled UAC and tried again but the errors are still present
    any idea ?
    thanks

CS3 is very old. What is that, Acrobat 8? If so, make sure you are at least updated to Acrobat 8.1.0

    Hello Big John
I understand that it is difficult to determine which forum to post in since there are so many. This particular forum (sharing and storage) was created to help those transitioning from Photoshop.com to Adobe Revel. I am moving your post to the correct forum so that it can get proper attention.
I'll put I this posting in theAcrobat community so the experts there can help you.
We also have many other forums relating to other Adobe products

  • Adobe PDF Converter Advanced Options not sticking

I am having trouble getting decent quality pdfs printed from autocad - specifically of materials that are themselves pdf's placed into autocad. The information is typical pdf vectors - I can snap to the linework inside the documents, but when I actually plot them I am getting fuzzy rasters.
I am trying to fiddle with the setting in the plotter properties and nested a few menus in are some settings called Adobe PDF Converter Advanced Options - there I can change DPI, ICM intent and Posctrcipt options...the problem is the settings don't stick. I change something, and then go back in to the menus and they are exactly as I first found them.
there are two problems here - one, printing pdfs of pdfs not producing very good quality, and two, having trouble getting settings to stay set...

I pretty much agree. However, print quality can be a big one. I use 300 dpi and many folks recommend 600 dpi. The 1200 dpi is way beyond what is normally needed. One place where the 1200 is a major problem is in preparation of slides in PDF. If you have line drawing with color lines of 1 pixel, they will be 1200 dpi. Imagine the problems when displaying on a 96 dpi monitor, a factor of more than 12 fewer pixels. A 1 pixel yellow line is almost unreadable because of the way that the line is sampled for display. If 300 dpi is used for print quality, then there is no problem. I found this one out the hard way.
Most of the other settings you would leave alone, or change someplace else.
In your sample DOC file from another post, your A4 came out as letter for me. The paper set in the DOC file is A4. My default in Acrobat is letter. Thus, WORD does NOT override the printer setting. You have to set the paper in the printer separately, similar to putting the proper paper in the printer.
I am still struggling with all the differences you are trying to point out on your other post. There are differences, but I am not totally sure of the reason. You might want to look at a page audit under the PDF optimize to see were teh resources are being used.

  • Adobe PDF converter shows as permanently offline

I have Adobe Acrobat X installed as part of the CS5.5 Design Premium Suite.
Last month, I began having difficulty in printing to the Adobe PDF converter - this had always worked fine before. PDFs stopped appearing and are queued up in the print queue - the printer dialogue is heade "Adobe PDF Converter - Use Printer Offline" and I can see my documents stacked up there. Looking at the dilaogue box I see that "Use Printer offline" is ticked in the "Printer" drop down menu - I have tried un-ticking this but it has no effect- the tick remains resolutely there. I have tried pausing & restarting docs, to no effect.
I can work round this in Word and Excel by using the "Create PDF" tab. But Firefox disabled the Adobe PDF plug in with its latest upgrade (thank you, Mozilla!) and Chrome just produces a print preview, from which I select Adobe PDF converter as my printer. And Visio tells me the PDF printer is not on my system!
Problem is I do all my banking online and used happily to save records of payments & receipts as PDFs, but now I can't.
This is really frustrating and I hope somebody has an answer! (hopefully without losing the queued documents, but I guess that's unlikley)
    System spec
I am running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on a Core2 Quad Q6600 2.40Ghz plus 4GB RAM. I use Office Professional 2010 (although I do ask myself a lot these days why I upgraded)

Try deleting the adobe printer PDF instance, then go to Acrobat and try to fix the installation.
